After I leave the tower, I immediately begin to make my way towards the battlefield with the corrupted creatures. Only to get a couple System Notifications the moment I step inside of the Dimensional Grid.

A Grand Council Meeting of all the Dimensional Blocks has been called and shall commence in ten days’ time.

All Dimensional Leaders will be summoned along with their advisors to participate.

Furthermore, all Dimensional Champions may participate should they wish to.

A Grand Council Meeting made up of every Dimensional Block? Sounds vaguely interesting.

Not that it actually matters, considering the next notification.

The Grand Council Meeting of all the Dimensional Blocks will now commence. Every Dimensional Leader will be directly teleported into the Grand Council Chamber in ten seconds along with all of the representatives they select to join them. Additionally, Dimensional Champions may opt to join the council meeting as well should they wish.

The first subject of the meeting is set in stone as the corrupted threat.

The second subject is to be determined by the Dimensional Leaders.

The third subject is to be determined by the Dimensional Leaders.

System benefits will be granted to all Dimensional Blocks that opt into joining the assault against the corruption.

System demerits will be pushed onto all Dimensional Blocks that opt out of joining the assault against the corruption.

And the next.

The Grand Council Meeting of all the Dimensional Blocks has now completed. Should Dimensional Leaders wish to stay and discuss matters longer, they have up to twenty-four hours to do so.

To leave the chamber, simply select the icon in the corner of your vision.

Meaning this meeting is already over. I’m just getting delayed messages now that I’m back in the System’s full range.

Well then.

I go ahead and dismiss the notifications before continuing my trip towards the edge of the Dimensional Grid. Where the corrupted creatures are gathered.

Then I officially begin wiping out the corrupted creatures by the millions the moment I arrive. Instantly refilling my energy pool before I do so through the Quantum Realm.

It’s too bad I can’t just do that in the trials. Considering I’m literally fighting against Quantum Beings who can do the exact same in those very trials. So the trials don’t even really let us draw energy from the Quantum Realm in our fights.

Although, it might be for the best. Since the battle would likely never end if we both had a near unlimited supply of energy to fight with.

Anyway, I continue to hunt the corrupted creatures under the stunned gazes of the people at the edges of the Dimensional Grid. Of which number quite a few.

Probably because of that whole Dimensional Grid Grand Council Meeting thing including discussions about fighting the corruption.

I ignore them all though and continue deeper into the corrupted universe. But even as I clear out these corrupted, the Quantum Cleaner never arrives to do his job. Showing the first major difference between now and before the Universe’s Will was destroyed.

Hmm. That could be a problem.

Will the corruption just return if it’s not cleansed?

I’m not sure.

I haven’t ever seen corruption just return before. From what I can tell, it’s just that the corrupted areas are contagious and spread corruption to the things they touch. Or try to, at least.

Since I’m completely immune to corruption, that doesn’t affect me.

If I had to guess, the uncleansed corrupted areas are only a problem for anything that enters the area and gets corrupted from it. So it won’t actually spawn any new corrupted without anything entering the area and becoming corrupted.

Still. It could be a problem if the Quantum Cleaner never does his job.

“He does it,” Zal suddenly says, surprising me. “He just only goes out to clean once a day, and that’s after he’s finished a game.”

Oh. That kind of sounds like what he’d do.

Well, at least he’s doing his job.

What about the other Quantum Beings? Are they still doing their jobs?

“Most of them are doing their jobs to a much smaller degree with a couple exceptions,” Zal answers. “But the Quantum Balancer has abandoned his job entirely.”

Hmm. That’s not surprising.

The part about the Quantum Balancer, that is.

“He seems to be up to something, so the Quantum Enforcer has been looking into his current actions,” Zal continues, sparking my curiosity a little. But only a little.

I continue hunting the corrupted for a while before finally leveling up once after an entire day of hunting nonstop. And even after that, I just continue hunting for days on end.

Until something happens that finally changes that.

A System Message appears in my vision with a quest on it.

A Quantum Being has officially crossed the line and a quest is now being sent out to handle it.

Will you slay the Quantum Balancer, who is currently controlling billions of creatures to assault the Quantum Enforcer?

Should you accept the quest, a reward out of the following shall be granted based on your degree of success:

Death of the Quantum Balancer: 1 Universal Skill Tier Advancement Token

Halting of the Quantum Balancer’s plans and crippling injury to the Quantum Balancer: 1 Mid Skill Tier Advancement Token

Halting of the Quantum Balancer’s plans: 1 Lower Skill tier Advancement Token

Skill Tier Advancement Tokens may be used to increase the Tier of a skill by one entire Tier. However, they are limited based on which Tier the skill is currently in.

Universal Tokens may be used on any skill up to Tier 5.

Mid Tokens may be used on any skill up to Tier 4.

Lower Tokens may be used on any skill up to Tier 3.

Well those look like some very nice rewards. And since I just cleared the Quantum Balancer’s trial, there’s no reason to reject this quest.

So, without any hesitation, I accept the quest.

Beginning my first real job as the Quantum Reaper.
