This battle turns out to be significantly easier by an enormous margin than the battle I struggled to win in the trial. And that makes things so much nicer.
Now I only take probably one fifth of all attacks sent my way by the Quantum Balancer. With half of his attacks being absorbed by me and turned into my own energy.
It makes what was once a nearly impossible fight that I only won after ten tries into a relatively simple and easy battle.
Which, I guess, is the entire purpose of the trials in the first place.
To prepare me to deal with the Quantum Beings if they become problems.
It’s too bad that the only trials I’ve completed thus far are the ones for the easier Quantum Beings to defeat. Since I’ve cleared the trials for the Quantum Archon, Quantum Scribe, Quantum Balancer, Quantum Cleaner, and Quantum Architect.
What’s worse is that most of those aren’t likely to ever be problems needing dealing with.
The Quantum Archon and Scribe are attached to their work to the point of never leaving their little pocket dimensions. And the Quantum Architect is Zal.
And, while the Quantum Cleaner could theoretically become a problem due to his rather scummy personality, the likelihood of that isn’t very high. Simply because he would be more interested in gaming all day long than causing problems.
At most I might have to go find him and kick him out of his little pocket dimension to do his job.
Even that hasn’t been an issue since he is still doing his job once in a while. Just not regularly.
So the Quantum Balancer is the only Quantum Being that is likely to cause problems – seeing as he is causing problems – that I’ve already cleared the trial for.
And I only just cleared his trial not too long ago.
If he had tried his plan sooner, before I finished his trial, then that could’ve been a problem.
Then again, there aren’t actually that many problematic Quantum Beings. Just three that might actually go around attacking people and ditching their jobs entirely at worst. Or just doing their jobs in their own ways that aren’t what they’re supposed to be doing.
And those are the Quantum Balancer, Quantum Enforcer, and Quantum Vanguard.
Only one of whom I’ve actually cleared the trial for.
The Quantum Builder and Quantum Creator are both generally pacifists, and the Quantum Ruler is currently crippled and can’t do anything. Although technically he’s not doing his job either, but that’s because he can’t.
His not doing his job is actually the reason I’m stuck dealing with these Quantum Beings.
Because his job is to manage the Quantum Beings, keep them in line, and punish them. While also managing the Universe’s Will’s interactions with everything. Which isn’t possible either since the Universe’s Will doesn’t exist anymore.
I should probably do the trials of the stronger potential problem Quantum Beings next. Just in case.
Starting with the Quantum Vanguard, then the Quantum Enforcer. And I can leave the Quantum Ruler for the very end of the list. Since I can’t ever imagine him being a problem in his crippled state.
Not to mention that he might be the most difficult to fight on account of being the strongest.
Anyway, I continue draining the energy out of the controlled people. Although I don’t pay much attention to the controlled monsters, since I don’t care if those die or not.
He’s also not blowing the monsters up.
The Quantum Balancer seems to freak out a little as he begins hopping from one body to another. But I don’t even bother with him right now. I just focus on freeing the mortals, each of whom flee immediately upon being released.
Which makes me wonder if they’re conscious and aware of what they’re doing while being controlled.
I know my father wasn’t, but he wasn’t forcibly set free like these people. So it could be different for them.
On another note, while I’m draining the energy from all of the mortal users around the Block, the Quantum Enforcer focuses on chasing after the Quantum Balancer. Creating a bit of a cat and mouse game that is rather amusing to watch.
It’s honestly hilarious to think about. How arrogant the Quantum Balancer looked before I arrived compared to how he looks right now. With him fleeing all over the place in a panic.
Yet, still with an arrogant expression on his face.
Just how big an ego does this guy have to believe he can still get out of this…?
Of course, I saw his massive ego at work when I was facing his older version in the trial. But still. It seems to have grown a lot in the years between the time the trial was set at and his current version.
Time gradually begins to pass as I fly through the billions of users, draining away enormous amounts of energy. Far more energy than I’ve used at any single point in time in my entire life.
And something kind of bothers me about this battle.
Specifically the point that I seem to have been delegated to energy recovery, freeing the users from the Quantum Balancer’s control instead of actually fighting. But, at the same time, I’m building up so much energy that I should be able to fight against the Quantum Balancer on even grounds after I finish doing this.
After all, even if I’m immune to most of his energy, he still has several dozen times more energy than I have.
Of course, I can balance it out a bit with the energy from the Quantum Realm, but even that energy has its limits. Especially when we both draw on it.
None of this should really matter much, though, considering that it’s a two-on-one battle.
I let out a yawn as I continue absorbing energy during the Balancer and Enforcer’s little game of chase.
Regardless of how it goes, this battle is going to take a while.
