Alexia

My first attempt to fight the Quantum Enforcer ends before I can even attack him. Reminding me of something I’ve seen before in the last parts of the trial along with what Zal told me. That the Quantum Enforcer’s biggest attack is his first attack.

His Quantum Execution.

The very attack that got him the second name of Quantum Judge in the first place. Since he judges people and then executes them.

As for why his name isn’t the Quantum Executioner instead of the Quantum Judge? Probably because of that judging aspect. Since he doesn’t kill every target.

The moment the third part of the trial starts, I feel time and space warping around me before my head gets cut off, giving me a view of my own body as it falls.

I blink in shock before finding myself back in the first part of the trial already. Feeling both shocked and more than a little irritated at the result. And at the completely wasted attempt at the trial.

Now I only have nine more attempts, and I barely got anything from the first attempt…

I grit my teeth at that thought before proceeding to go through the first two parts of the trial again. But this time, when the third part of the trial arrives, I immediately teleport away from where I appear. Quickly dodging the sword blade that chops straight through where my neck was.

This battle would be difficult if not impossible if I didn’t have Quantum Displacement at Ascendant Tier…

And this is the strongest individual attack I’ve taken from a Quantum Being before as well. Or the strongest attack I’ve taken from anything at all.

It was an instant kill attack. The only instant kill attack I’ve ever taken.

Which is kind of obvious in hindsight. Seeing as I’d be dead if I had taken an instant kill attack before. Outside of a trial, that is.

The Quantum Enforcer in the trial looks shocked upon seeing me completely dodge his execution strike. Meanwhile the energy in his sword begins to dissipate.

A special energy that is actually slightly different from his original variant quantum energy.

No, actually, it’s more like it’s an incredible condensed version of his regular variant energy. An energy so condensed that it’s taking on new traits.

I wonder just how this works? And why couldn’t I notice this energy when it wasn’t targeting me?

During the previous parts of the trial, and in the battles outside of the trial I’ve seen him fighting in, I’ve never seen that condensed energy. I only saw him doing the execution strike on his opponents without that energy.

Is it maybe only visible to the opponent he’s targeting with the attack?

It’s hard to say for sure.

I begin to throw bolts of quantum lightning at him while occasionally teleporting away from his attacks. Managing to go without taking even a single scratch of damage for over an entire ten minutes.

Only for him to suddenly begin to glow brightly and vanish for an instant.

Then I find my head once again rolling. Or just plain falling, since I’m high in the air.

And moments later, I appear back in the first trial again.

Damnit. So he can use it more than once.

A few questions come to mind about this little power of his though. The first being about why the Quantum Balancer was able to deal with this without a single slipup.

Is it because of his age making him more careful about it? Or because he knew about it beforehand?

Actually, it is probably a bit of both. The Quantum Balancer is far older than me and has known the Quantum Enforcer for a long time. So it would honestly be more surprising if he didn’t already know about this power of his.

The next question is if there’s a better sign of when he’ll start doing it than that brief glow. Because that glow isn’t very much of a warning for me. Especially since it only lasted for less than a second. Less than half a second, in fact.

I replay what happened in my mind over and over again while also focusing on what the Quantum Enforcer is doing in the first and second part of the trial again. But no matter how hard I try to remember, or how much I focus on the Quantum Enforcer’s attacks and energy, I can’t figure out any other signs.

The only sign that I can find is the brief glow less than half a second before he disappears.

That said, I do notice that he seems to use the execution attack once every about ten or so minutes per target. And the cooldown on that power is specific to each individual it is used on. So he can repeatedly use it on multiple targets back to back with no cooldown. It’s only when he uses it multiple times on a single target that it has a cooldown.

Also, the attack seems to use up a lot of energy. He just replaces that energy with energy from the Quantum Realm instantly.

Almost like it’s an automatic process.

So the biggest difference between the Quantum Enforcer and the previous Quantum Beings I’ve fought is that the Quantum Enforcer seems to be the type to have weak regular attacks and then those sudden incredibly powerful execution attacks.

He’s more like an assassin type than a frontline fighter.

This should make things both easier and harder at the same time. Easier because I’m fine so long as I don’t get hit by those periodic attacks. And harder because I’m dead instantly if I get hit by one of those periodic attacks.

I purse my lips at that thought before watching the rest of the first two parts of this trial. All the way until the final part of the trial begins again and I immediately teleport away from my initial location. Leaving the Quantum Enforcer swinging and missing again. Using up that energy once more.

Time to see how this run plays out.
