I can’t help but let out a yawn as I sit in the middle of a council meeting, listening to the other people on the Planetary Council go on about their strategy for winning this upcoming Planetary Official System Event. With their plan utilizing me, yes, but not as the main force of the plan.
The exact Planetary Official System Event we’re participating in this time is a sort of capture the flag type of event. And the plan this time is to have me act as the protector of the flag. Where I don’t leave the flag and just stay at it as a guard.
So, unlike the last Planetary Official System Event I participated in where I pretty much swept the whole thing, the other people from our planet are taking point this time around.
Which means I don’t exactly have much to do. Especially considering how weak the enemy team is going to be.
The others continue making their little plans as I sit around wondering how long this meeting is going to take.
On the bright side, I manage to pass some of the time by making a new skill with my Chaos skill. And this skill actually isn’t complete garbage like the majority of the skills I make through this.
In fact, it’s so useful to me that it shocks me into sitting up straight. Catching the eye of my advisors and allies in the process. Until they realize I’m not paying attention to what the other people in the meeting are saying and they refocus on the meeting.
{Enchanted Twin Effect – Increases the effect of skills used simultaneously with another skill. This effect stacks the more skills are being used at once. The skill can be stacked up to thirty-one times at any single moment. The effect lasts for 0.1 seconds after the skills are no longer used simultaneously.}
Holy shit…
I can’t help but grin at the sight of the skill.
It’s a shame there’s a limit to how many stacks it can have at once, but at least the limit isn’t all that low. Although it bothers me seeing how completely random the stack limit is.
Why thirty-one? It just kinda feels wrong.
Why not an even number? Or thirty? Or thirty-five?
And that last one absolutely isn’t because I want more stacks.
I wonder if the exact type of skill I’m using matters for the effect to take place?
With that thought in mind, I continue ignoring the meeting as I activate several completely non-combat skills. Like cleaning skills and skills that make my hair sparkle for whatever reason.
Just to see if the effect applies to them, and how.
And the effect does, in fact, apply to them. Increasing the effect of each skill in use by a decent but not large amount.
Or, rather, it’s not large until I get around seven or so stacks set up. Then it’s a very large increase.
At an estimate, it looks like each stack increases the effect of the skills including the last stack. So the first stack increases the effect of the two skills. Then the second stack increases the effect of the three skills including the previous effect from the first stack.
So it’s exponential in a way. Increasing more and more with each stack.
To the point that seven stacks seems to increase it by around twenty-five percent ish. Then fourteen stacks increases it by about fifty-five percent. Twenty-one stacks increases the effects of the skills by around a hundred percent. And all thirty-one stacks increase the skills’ effect by around two hundred percent.
Overall, it’s an enormous increase that perfectly fits my fighting style.
It also affects skills that aren’t just combat skills.
I finally got a good skill from this thing…
It feels nice that all of the energy I have wasted on this skill wasn’t a complete waste after all. Since I have more garbage skills from this than I can count at this point.
My thoughts come to a halt when the meeting changes subjects from the upcoming Planetary Official System Event to an upcoming potential war with several other planets. Which reminds me of some rules regarding wars Successors have.
Wars between two or more planets generally are conducted in a couple different ways. Through Official System Events, and through actual warfare with people from the planets going to the other planets to attack. With the way they do that being Domains.
But that’s not all as there are special rules for Successors dwelling on the warring planets.
Successors are allowed to participate in the Official System Events of the war, but they are only allowed to fight in the direct warfare if they or their territory are attacked by the other planet or planets. Pretty much bringing them into the war directly.
Of course, there are plenty of planets that manipulate things so that the Successor joins the war by guiding the enemies to attack the Successor or the Successor’s territory.
And there is also an exception. Specifically that Successors who are also the Planetary Leader of the planet can ignore the previous special rule and participate in the war as they please.
Honestly, I don’t really care about this potential upcoming war. At all.
It doesn’t really affect me unless they attack my territory, or if they attack Blake’s territory.
If they attack one of us, even if they don’t attack me, I will figure out a way to join the war to deal with them for attacking Blake. But if they don’t bother either of us, then I don’t really care.
I participate in the Planetary Official System Events for the rewards they give me, for the Skill Trees, and because it is useful to get benefits and position on the planet.
Not because I actually care about the planet. At least beyond the people in my own territory.
I at least feel a little responsible for the people in my own territory. Then again, if they attack my territory and thereby the people under me, I already planned on joining the war in that situation just for attacking my territory in the first place.
So that doesn’t change much.
The people in the meeting continue discussing the matters of the potential war for a while. With it sounding like they’re pretty sure this war is going to break out at this rate.
There are a total of seven different planets that seem to have their sights set on Val. And all no doubt for the same reason.
One of the rewards a planet can take after winning a war is to assimilate the planet they defeat. Both the actual mass of the planet and the users on the planet. They all join with the winning planet.
So planets often declare war on other planets with Successors in the hopes of pulling those Successors into their own planet to have fight alongside them in Planetary Official System Events. Thereby bringing their planet benefits in the process.
It’s kind of messed up. How Successors often end up treated as a sort of commodity or strategic resource by planets when it comes to interplanetary relations.
At the same time, though, it doesn’t really matter much at the end of the day. And Chaos would probably flip if they ever went overboard.
Anyway, the meeting continues for a while before it finally ends with them deciding to combine their forces to deal with the likely enemies declaring war on us. With the Black Enforcer taking the lead on it since he is both a Successor and the Planetary Leader for Val.
I frown at the thought of the man who I’ve practically disowned as my father at this point. Then I shake my head and find myself back in my Spire.
It doesn’t take long before I’m teleported again though. Since the meeting was just a few hours before the next Planetary Official System Event.
I yawn again as I think about how boring this is going to be.
Maybe I can spend this event training my mana manipulation skills…
