Alexia

The battle continues for entire weeks as the two of us attack each other over and over again. With both of us avoiding attacks as much as possible while trying to sneak in attacks of our own. And over the course of this time, I end up burning through half of my remaining instances of Energy Regeneration, and an entire third of the soul in my Cloak of Souls.

But the battle finally starts to reach its climax as the Quantum Enforcer begins to run out of energy entirely. Enough that he completely stops using his execution strikes, making the battle progress a lot easier from here on.

I can’t help but let out a sigh of relief after noticing this.

Because I was worried the battle would keep going, and I genuinely don’t have the mental stamina to continue this stressful battle. I’ve already slipped up twice so far and lost one of my hands and a couple toes.

And for some reason, they won’t recover. Even with my soul trying to heal them.

The minor cuts I’ve been getting lately in the battle won’t heal either. Almost like his temporal effect blocking is also affecting regular healing and regeneration now.

If the executions kept going, I’m not sure how long I would last.

Now that the executions are over, I let up a little bit on dodging and defending, and begin focusing more on dealing damage. And bit by bit, I manage to whittle down the Quantum Enforcer. Even finally cutting off one of his hands, with him not restoring it immediately. Likely implying that he’s out of energy.

I feel my hope soaring with every additional attack I get off on the Quantum Enforcer, who still has an indifferent expression on his face throughout all of this. All the way until I manage to slice off an entire left with my scythe.

But right as I’m feeling relief that this battle is nearly over, with there being so many wounds on the Quantum Enforcer that he looks like he’s about to keel over at any moment, the Quantum Enforcer suddenly vanishes. Making my eyes widen in shock. And before I can teleport away, I feel a massive amount of pain blossom from my lower torso. Meanwhile all feeling beneath that point vanishes.

I blink in shock as I see the half-dead Quantum Enforcer reappearing in front of me again with his sword raised and his eyes flaring with quantum light. With the numbness of my lower half bringing my gaze down to find my entire body from my waist down completely no longer connected to my body, instead falling down through the sky to the ground.

The pain flares even worse than before, but that doesn’t stop me from looking up again to find the Quantum Enforcer’s blade dropping down towards my head.

And the moment it’s about to reach me, I teleport behind the Quantum Enforcer and swing my scythe with the last of the strength in my body to strike at the exhausted-looking Quantum Enforcer.

I watch almost as if in slow motion as my scythe moves straight towards the Quantum Enforcer’s neck. All while the Quantum Enforcer slowly turns his head to see, finally showing shock on his face in the process. Breaking out of that damned indifference that hasn’t moved since the start of the battle.

Then the scythe passes through several weak barriers he tries to create over his neck before slicing through his neck.

And cutting off his head.

I almost let out a sigh of relief, only to freeze stiff when I realize I still can’t heal or reverse the damage to my body. Which either means that the effect blocking me will last for a time even after the Quantum Enforcer’s death, or…

Thanks to my gaze still remaining locked on the Quantum Enforcer’s body, I see it exactly when the corpse disappears. Allowing me to teleport myself away less than a second before the Quantum Enforcer somehow sweeps his sword in an attempt to cut off my head even without a head of his own.

Which is utterly ridiculous.

I don’t hesitate to use Quantum Collapse on the Quantum Enforcer’s body. Making his body break apart into fragments of reality before vanishing.

Leaving me alone in the trial realm for a few seconds before I’m teleported to the mausoleum with a System Notification in my vision.

For passing the sixth of the tests, your core will expand. Furthermore, you have gained Quantum Resistance to the quantum energy of the Quantum Enforcer. With every test passed after this point, your core will continue to grow stronger, and you will learn how to fight with each of the Quantum Beings.

For your role must be the strongest. You must be the reaper of all. And yet, the savior of all as well.

I immediately feel the effects on my body vanishing upon arriving at the mausoleum, so I begin healing my body.

Unfortunately, it’s been too long since I got the wounds to reverse time on them. But I can still heal them with soul.

I take my time reading the System Message that appears in my vision for the new activation of my True Form after clearing this trial. Simply because I need to wait for my wounds to heal before I can leave the trial tower and join the fight against the Quantum Enforcer.

After all, I can’t go straight to fighting the present Quantum Enforcer while my body is cut in half and I’m missing a hand. Even if I’ve gained resistance to his energy now.

The pain from my wounds continues to fill every inch of my body as I heal myself, but it is at least gradually fading the more the wounds heal. Although it’s more like I’m regenerating rather than healing. Since I’m regrowing my body from the waist down.

I let out a shaky sigh at that thought before focusing solely on reading the notification while healing to take my mind off the pain.
