Now then. The next important matter on my list.

And it’s a very important one.

I’ve already checked the Victory Point Shop, along with my Assault monsters that are still going around attacking users and other System Cities, but I haven’t checked the Event Point Shop yet. So I don’t waste any time in opening it as I walk towards the entrance of my City Hall. And I quickly narrow the list of things to buy to the things I can afford right now.

It is slightly irritating that almost all of the things I can buy have a minimum price of ten thousand Event Points. But that’s fine, since I have enough to buy at least one thing.

Right now is a good time to upgrade my System City a bit. I have plenty of War Points, after all. A nice surplus of them from hunting monsters in those dungeons.

I pause for a moment before opening the System Buildings Shop to see what buildings I already have unlocked, along with what the exact details are for the things I can unlock in the Event Point Shop.

System Buildings Shop

War Points: 178,859

Advanced City Walls – 30,000 War Points – Upgrades the Basic City Walls into Advanced City Walls. This increases the size of the walls by two dozen feet in height and one dozen feet in width, increases the number of monsters that can be turned away from the walls from groups below ten to groups below thirty, and increases the damage reduction for all users within the City Hall’s citizen registry to 15%. | Buy – LOCKED

Level 2 Void Breach – 50,000 War Points – Upgrades the Level 1 Void Breach to Level 2. This increases the number of non-native voidlings that may pass through the Void Breach from one thousand to three thousand, and it increases the size of the System City reaching into the void from one thousand feet to three thousand feet. | Buy

Medium Labyrinth Colosseum – 10,000 War Points – Upgrades the Labyrinth Colosseum to a Medium Labyrinth Colosseum. This increases the size of the colosseum and its seating capacity to 5000 seats. | Buy

Medium System City Hall – 10,000 War Points – Upgrades the System City Hall to a Medium System City Hall. This increases the size of the building and increases the number of receptionist desks capable of registering users into the City Hall’s citizen registry from one to two. | Buy

Basic Underground Farm– 25,000 War Points – The Basic Underground Farm is a highly fertile patch of farmland placed underground beneath the System City. Users may also be hired to plant seeds and harvest the crops grown on the farmland. | Buy – LOCKED

Basic City Gate – 10,000 War Points – The Basic City Gate allows the City Lord to place restrictions on physical entry into the System City. Once the Gate is established, all entry into the System City not via the System Portal will be blocked unless it is through the Gate, or the one attempting entry is at war with the System City. City Lords may also create City Identification to grant non-residents entry and restrict all those who do not have this identification, or are not City Residents registered within the City Hall. | Buy – LOCKED

Alright. There are quite a few things on that list, and they all cost a good number of War Points too.

Unfortunately, I do not have any experience building a city. Which makes sense, considering I was just a college student before all of this.

And, since Rex is busy, I only have one person I can get good advise from about System Cities.

◊ Aidan ◊ - [Do you have any advice on which System Buildings I should unlock or upgrade first?]

So I go ahead and send Seraphyne a message.

While I wait for her response, I go ahead and move to the Basic City Wall. Which is still incredibly small and won’t block anything from entering.

Honestly, the first thing I might want to buy is the upgraded wall just for that reason alone. Since it’ll expand the wall quite a bit. Enough to turn it into an actual defensive wall instead of just some border.

My thoughts pause when I get a message back from the empress.

◊ Seraphyne ◊ - [How many War and Event Points do you have?]

I go ahead and tell her since there’s no reason not to. Plus she probably needs to know to decide on what I should buy.

◊ Aidan ◊ - [I have 12,730 Event Points and 178,859 War Points.]

She takes a few moments to reply with an answer as I look out at the trees around the city.

◊ Seraphyne ◊ - [The most important things for you to get at this time are the Advanced City Walls and the Basic City Gate. These two will significantly increase the defensive prowess and security of your System City by restricting entry of potential criminals and enemies while also increasing the power of those registered within your System City. The Medium System City Hall is also a beneficial purchase to make the process of registering new residents smoother. I would suggest unlocking the Advanced City Walls, then purchasing both the Advanced City Walls and the Medium System City Hall. Once you have enough Event Points again, you should unlock the Basic City Gate and purchase that as well.]

Hmm, that’s not far off what I was initially wanting to do. Albeit with more reasoning behind it.

She sends another message after the first.

◊ Seraphyne ◊ - [The beginning of the Initialization always has two important factors that are considered the most necessary for every System City starting out. Defense and security, and food. However, voidlings do not eat food from the regular universe outside of meat from those they hunt. Therefore, a farm is not useful for your city, and those non-voidlings who may take residence in your city can simply purchase those foods from other System Cities through the Kiosk. Therefore, the protection of your System City is the most important factor for you right now.]

◊ Aidan ◊ - [What about the Void Breach and the Alchemist and Blacksmith Shops?]

Seraphyne answers right away.

◊ Seraphyne ◊ - [The Void Breach may be upgraded at any time, and voidlings aren’t prone to using blacksmith creations. They use their own natural weapons and defenses. The Alchemist Shop could be useful for the future, but it is not useful right now when you are initially starting out. Any potions you may need will be available in your Auction House from other users, or through the System Kiosk.]

Alright then. That pretty much settles my plan for the immediate future.

◊ Aidan ◊ - [Thank you for your assistance.]

I immediately move to make the purchases.

Let’s see what Advanced System Walls look like.

Gilded Goblin

I really enjoy that the other UNIQUES are all pretty friendly and personable towards each other. It is also really nice to see they aren't randomly "threatened" by the existence of the MC, and are actually interested in his growth being smooth and strong. It's really funny that neither Aidan nor Sera have put together that she's basically his mom now. Like she is acting very much like a momma bear, guiding him and ready to kill ANYTHING she needs to. The time someone points that out is gonna be hilarious. My money's on World Tree, she seems most likely to recognize the situation.

Black Rose

What was the free dungeon monster he got

Black Rose

Shouldn't he buy a second dungeon as well so that he can get more points

WolfWrites

He can't. Not until his Assault is over. All of the monsters of his Assault need to die before he can send another.

Caudyr

Well, to be fair, he's not only a Unique that's on par with them in terms of potential (due to the original Crowne)...but he also represents an actual possibility of THEM having kin in the future as well...so there's absolutely no way they're going to be unfriendly towards him. Especially when he's actually proving exactly why the Void Crowne is so feared in the multiverse at this very moment. It's definitely nice to see them not at odds with him, though...since that DOES tend to happen in a lot of stories. I'm looking forward to him meeting them all, tbh.

Caudyr

Do the 'spawned' or 'turned' Blighted count among this? Or just the original monsters that he threw at them, i.e. the undead, golems and Broodmother herself?

Gilded Goblin

Yeah, "unrequited beef" is so weirdly common that this is just very refreshing. Other stories almost always have at least one punk at the top of everything that has an unreasonable issue with someone who genuinely poses no risk to them until they start acting on their imagined grudge. I do think it'd be fun if folks like God or Demon occasionally spare a planet of theirs to spar with him, give him a decent challenge so he doesn't grow stagnant from just stomping his enemies. A sort of "friendly pressure" to help him out.
