Aidan

The moment I confirm the purchase, the walls of my System City begin to tremble. Meanwhile everyone who was on the walls are teleported off of them.

Then I sit back and watch as the walls suddenly begin to grow. To the point that they reach a size several times their previous size both vertically and horizontally. Turning them into legitimate walls instead of just some mark on the border.

Until now, the walls were so small that someone could literally reach the top of the walls with their hands while standing on the ground. And they could just pull themselves up onto the walls and jump down to the other side.

So, as walls, they were rather useless. With the exception of when Ali used them in conjunction with her moat.

In that situation, the walls acted as walls. Simply because she dropped the ground next to the walls.

But now? Now my walls are genuine walls. Ones nearly ten meters tall and four or five meters wide.

I walk around the inside of the city to inspect the walls, then I move up onto the walls through the stairs located inside of the walls themselves and inspect it from the top.

Overall, this is a significant improvement from before.

A smile spreads across my face at that thought. Then I climb down the walls and head over to the City Hall. At which point I go ahead and have the people inside leave before spending War Points to upgrade it as well.

This upgrade, while not as grand as the other one in scale, still looks pretty cool to see as the building begins to grow in size. But the majority of the growth is horizontal growth, so it doesn’t look like any new floors were added.

Which is fine.

Once the City Hall finishes expanding, I go inside to find that there are now two receptionist desks instead of one.

I look around the hall for a little bit to see if I can spot any other differences, but all I can find are the general increases in size. Nothing more than that.

So I go outside and let the voidlings return to their positions. On top of that, I assign another voidling to the other receptionist desk. Letting them continue their work registering new residents.

Then I move to the wall on the city while I wait to see if any new dungeons will open up. And one actually does rather quickly.

I immediately jump off the wall before walking over to the new dungeon with numerous voidlings jumping down and following me. All of which are the ones I created personally.

And, after briefly glancing at the name of the user who sent the dungeon, I enter it with my voidling forces. All while going ahead and opening my list of monsters that I can send.

Since I remember the System Achievement mentioning that I unlocked a new elite monster.

Regular Monsters Menu

War Points: 138,909

Elite Void Golem – 250 War Points – A rare golem monster. Void golems are golems made of void mana with a void core. Their only weaknesses are having the mana in them drained or having their cores destroyed.

Elite Arachnid Guard – 250 War Points – A rare guard amongst the arachnids. Arachnids are a solitary hunter species that is known to be extremely territorial and live in nests of thousands of their kind underneath their queen. However, despite their numbers, the arachnids rarely ever hunt together. They’re known to hunt on their own and bring their prey back to their nest. And the arachnid guards are the ones tasked with guarding the inner layers of their nest.

Weak Mimic – 100 War Points – An uncommon miscellaneous monster. Weak mimics are monsters disguised as loot boxes meant to trick users into trying to open them for loot, only for the mimics to gobble up the users instead.

Zombie Soldier – 25 War Points – A common undead monster. Zombie soldiers are the sturdiest of the most common undead, but they deal less damage than the skeletons and ghosts.

Gray Wolf – 25 War Points – A common beast monster. Gray wolves have strong jaws that they can latch onto a user with and tear them to shreds.

Fishman Spearman – 25 War Points – A common humanoid monster. A fishman spearman is a monster with very little intelligence, but a strong combat ability when in the water. They are armed with a single spear.

Acid Slime – 25 War Points – A common slime monster. An acid slime is a slime made of acid. A large blob of acid with a thin membrane on the outside that can shoot out deadly acid at its targets. However, as with most slimes, the acid slime is incredibly fragile.

Arachnid guards? Isn’t an arachnid a spider?

So now I have insect monsters and spider monsters?

That’s a pretty fitting addition.

Anyway, I continue through the dungeon – which is in the form of a large volcanic region with a volcano at the center – before letting my voidlings wipe out the monsters and boss of the dungeon. Then I head back to the city, only to be interrupted by a System Message.

◊ Your selection of Legendary System Buildings to choose from has been compiled. Please make your selection. ◊

I blink at the message before remembering the thing in the Achievement about unlocking a Legendary System Building.

Nice!

Let’s see what the options are.

◊◊◊◊◊

Choose from one of the following:

Tree of Life – Increases the natural healing speed of all allies within the city by 25%. Additionally, the City Lord may use the Tree of Life once every month to fully heal one individual to perfect health, including injuries, illnesses, curses, and diseases.

Bank of War – Allows users to place their War Points within the Bank. Once they do, interest begins to grow on the War Points placed inside at a rate of 2% interest every month. Additionally, 0.02% of that interest is given to the City Lord as taxes for the use of the building.

Labyrinth Fortress – Your city’s interior automatically changes during warfare to form military style streets while all enemies grow increasingly lost within them. Making it harder to find the System City’s City Hall.

Oh, wow. These definitely deserve the title of Legendary System Buildings.

As for which one I should go with?

I once again as Seraphyne for advice about that. Since I don’t know much about Legendary buildings.

For all I know, some of them might be easier to get than others.

And, as if confirming that my decision to ask her was correct, Seraphyne answers that two of the three Legendary System Buildings I can choose from are easier to unlock than the other one. With both of them being available for purchase in the Event Point Shop.

Meanwhile the Bank of War is not available for purchase in the Event Point Shop.

My grin grows at that, and her following words that the Bank of War is a very profitable and rare building. And that I should select it.

Just the fact that it’s rare and difficult to unlock outside of chances like this is enough for me to choose it.

So I do. Only to try to open my System Buildings Menu to build it and find that it costs a hundred thousand War Points to build.

Hmm. Well then.

I technically have enough War Points to build it right now, but I’m better off spending these War Points on more Assaults.

Looks like I’ll be building this later. When I have a lot more War Points to spend at once.

The priority right now is getting a lot of Victory and Event Points. Especially when the event is currently ongoing.

I can build this building anytime, after all. But these Event Points are only available during this first Multiversal War.

With that in mind, I close out of the System Buildings Menu and begin to look for more dungeons to fight in. All while occasionally glancing at my current Assault while wondering how long it’ll take for the other world’s users to finish off all of the monsters in it.

Because, at the rate they’re going, they might take a while.

Gilded Goblin

Honestly, once you clear double the cost, you should get that Bank. Then invest half the points you have. The simple accrual of passive points is massive even this early, it's a fire-and-forget sort of deal. Occasionally add a few thousand extra points, but keep them there purely for emergency situations. Given his strength, he can likely leave it for years and get millions from it.

SmokeJam

While I understand caution and with a mentor that close at hand it is quite easy, but I would like to see him use his brain a little bit outside of combat xD well, actually, than Bank should've been a no-brainer, in combination with the Auction House he has such a tremendous passive income, War Points become a nonfactor for bottlenecks. Putting it on the back burner is even more baffling... did he simply forget that he has multiple hundred thousand voidlings in his city and he gets 0.02% interest tax from every single one that uses it? He would make those 100k back with the first monthly payout.

Caudyr

It sounds like his Broodmother might be too strong and is likely to actually stilt his event points because it's going to survive for too long. =\ I want to see him rack up more points! Lots more points! XD Though I do suspect that what's happening right now is likely going to end up getting him a lot of event points in and of itself. We'll see, though~

Black Rose

I mean the longer it survives presumably the more points it's getting

Sean C Jackson

Yeah, plus with the population of Voidlings using his city's labyrinth War Points are cheap.

Sean C Jackson

He just wants to wait until after the first MW is over since war points are being spent and not earned right now.

Avidregent

I once again as Seraphyne for advice about that Ask*
