Aria

I absolutely love this new recliner. It’s just incredibly good.

The thing has massage features, heating, cooling, senses what I want just from my thoughts, and has numerous other features like holographic screens that appear around me with but a thought. Screens showing different things like the internet or apps or even broadcasted screens from my other devices like my terminal.

A recliner that has practically everything. It’s no wonder War recommended it.

I hum in satisfaction as I sit on the recliner in the middle of quite a few explosions just feeling the massage it’s giving me. One that is very nice.

Technically, my body doesn’t develop fatigue. Just like I don’t have any soreness or natural pains that regular people have just from living. But that doesn’t mean a massage doesn’t feel nice.

The effects don’t actually last after the massage, but it feels really nice while being massaged.

The explosions continue as the two Horsemen tear what is left of this poor galaxy to shreds. Which isn’t actually all that much.

They’ve already done quite a number on the galaxy as it is.

I don’t think there’s even a single in-tact planet anymore…

This galaxy has already been marked as a no-go-zone for anyone in the universe. Because it’s too dangerous. What with all the debris and blackholes and radiation filling it.

Not to mention the damage to reality itself from War’s blade, and the pestilence filling every inch of it from Pestilence.

Some of the neighboring galaxies are struggling too simply because of the plagues, diseases, and poisons leaking out of this galaxy into theirs.

Anyway, any of the attacks that reach me pass straight through my recliner and into me. But I’ve already grown used to both Pestilence and War’s attacks at this point. So I practically instantly regenerate from them.

Of course, if I were to actually fight them, their physical strength alone would be enough to launch me out of the galaxy. But that’s solved by a device attached to the recliner that keeps me in place.

Plus they’re not actually attacking me, so I’m not taking any physical hits.

Just strays.

I hum to myself as music plays in the little bubble around me. One meant to keep sound inside instead of letting the void of space devour it.

Although I’m not quite sure if this can really be called space anymore. Not with everything these two have done to the galaxy.

Out of curiosity, I look at the news from the Eternal Dynasty. Only to find it currently covering the battle. And, more specifically, me.

I blink at the sight of me sitting on a recliner on the screen before turning around to look in the direction of the camera. But the actual camera is so far away that I can’t see it. Even with my level thousand eyesight.

Just how strong is that camera…?

Then again, the cameraman would probably be dead if they were in the galaxy itself, so they must be outside of the galaxy. Or using a drone of some sort.

“Oh, it would appear the Horseman of Death has noticed the camera!” the news person on the screen says, bringing my gaze back to the screen again. “How would you feel about doing a short interview with us, Princess Aria? Wave at the camera if you agree!”

I blink at that in mild confusion before eventually shrugging. Then I turn and wave at the camera.

“Wonderful! Let us get this interview underway after a brief setup period!” the news person continues, his voice sounding more than a little excited about this. “So let’s pause for a commercial break here! Talk to ya all later!!”

A commercial begins to play before I get a call on my terminal. One from Little Blue for some reason.

And since I don’t have to worry about paperwork anymore, I go ahead and answer it right away.

Hooray for no paperwork!

“I will be connecting you to the studio now,” Little Blue says immediately after the call connects. “Wait a second.”

Ah. I was wondering how they were going to do this interview when they don’t exactly have any mics that can reach this far.

Or, at least, not clearly. I think I did hear myself humming before they saw I was watching. It’s just that my humming wasn’t very clear, and I doubt it’ll be able to pick up exact words.

“Alright,” I answer with a nod while focusing on the book I was reading before checking out the news broadcast. And, after several seconds of explosions pass, I hear a click.

Then the news person’s voice comes over, asking, “Hello? Are we connected?”

“Yep,” I answer without looking at my terminal.

“Great!” he exclaims. “Do you want to prepare answers for the interview, or would you rather just go in without preparing questions and answers?”

I wave my hand before reaching to grab a glass that automatically fills with wine thanks to another convenient function of this recliner. One that allows a spatial storage within the chair that can be filled with liquids to automatically refill glasses placed in the cup holder.

An incredibly wonderful function, if anyone were to ask me.

“Ask whatever,” I eventually answer after noticing the news person was waiting for a verbal answer. Possibly not seeing me wave.

“Great!” the news person whose name I still don’t know exclaims. “We’ll go live in two minutes. Is that fine with you?”

I open my mouth to answer, only for a wave of really loud explosions to cover what I say. So I repeat it, stating, “Yep. Go ahead.”

Then I take another large sip of my wine.

The two minutes pass rather quickly before I see the commercial ending and the news guy appearing again next to a screen showing me. And he doesn’t waste any time as he says, “Let us welcome our guest, the Horseman of Death, Aria Crimson!”

I just nod at the camera while sipping more wine.

The news guy doesn’t faulter at my lack of response and immediately moves to ask, “So, Princess Aria. Should I call you that? Or do you want to go by a different title?”

“Just call me Aria,” I answer while turning my gaze away from the screen and back onto the fight happening in front of me.

“Then Aria, who do you think will win this battle?” he asks, his very first question being a rather unexpected one.

Still. It’s not a very difficult question.

War is known as the strongest being in the universe for a reason, after all. And Pestilence was already injured and missing his companion before the battle even began.

“War,” I answer, still without taking my gaze from their battle.

“That seems to be the common consensus from most sources that I’ve seen,” the news guy says in response. “War has a significant advantage over Pestilence in this conflict-”

The man begins to go on about analyzing the battle, which I kind of half ignore while watching said battle. Mostly because I’m not all that interested in the specific mechanics. Plus I came to answer questions on a whim. Not get a lesson in combat.

After his first question, he asks me a different question with a very bizarre change of subject.

“What’s your favorite color, Aria?” he asks, starting with a rather unusual question. “A lot of your fans want to know.”

Fans?

Right. I forgot I had those.

Come to think of it, aren’t those singing videos I did before reaching trillions of views at this point? Or was it quadrillions?

I’m not sure.

All I know is that I’m getting very rich from them.

“Red or black,” I answer honestly. Not that it was very hard to tell.

“Ah, it looks like the winner has been decided!” the news person says, confusing me for a moment before he adds, “It’s been a long time running, but the bet is finally over! Those who chose red or black have come out on top!”

Wait, why are people betting over what my favorite color is?

After that, he asks one bizarre personal yet not important question after another.

What my favorite season is.

If I’ve ever been in a romantic relationship.

What my favorite style of clothing is.

And even what side of the bed I sleep on.

Eventually I learn that he’s literally taking these questions from the gallery posts for the broadcast itself. Where a notice was put up to post questions they want to see the Horseman of Death answer.

I blankly stare at the very much scheming news person before something comes to mind and I mutter, “Ah…”

“Yes, Aria? Is there something you want to ask?” the news person hurriedly asks, seeming more than a little excited about the prospect.

I glance at the call on my terminal as I ask, “What was your name again?”

Silence fills the area. Except for the explosions.

“U-um, it’s Raize Yara,” he answers, sounding like the wind was taken out of his metaphorical sails.

Ah, there we go.

I never actually bothered to ask, and I didn’t know anything about this news station before randomly opening it.

Oops.

Well, now things are awkward.

For him, at least.

I just return to watching the battle while sipping wine.

He can recover whenever he wants. I’ll just keep watching the local entertainment- err, duel.
