Alexia

After his corruption, the Corrupted One begins to spread corruption across the universe at a far faster pace than before. Meanwhile the Quantum Ruler spends ages chasing after him alongside the Quantum Vanguard. Leaving the universe to fall into chaos for some time.

Eventually that chaos settles, though, after the Ruler calms down and goes back to performing his old duties alongside the Vanguard. Once again managing the other Quantum Beings, with the Vanguard getting more serious about hunting down and clearing out as much corruption as he possibly can.

And not long after that, I find myself teleported away again. This time directly to some sort of glitchy throne room.

I narrow my eyes at the sight of the Quantum Ruler sitting on the throne at the end of the throne room. But, despite preparing myself for a major battle, nothing happens.

He just stares at and angle upwards with a blank, almost broken look on his face.

Wait, is this not the past version of him…?

My answer comes in the form of a System Notification.

To clear the final trial of the Trial Tower, your goal is simple.

Wake the Quantum Ruler from his stupor.

By any means possible.

The Quantum Ruler must regain his sanity and mind.

Lest the universe fall to corruption.

I frown at the notification before closing my eyes and sensing my surroundings. Only to realize I’m genuinely not inside of the trial tower right now. Instead, I’m in the Quantum Realm outside of the trial tower.

Although the exact location feels cut off from most other places.

There’s no one else around besides the two of us. And for once, I genuinely feel like there might not actually be any battle this time.

It feels a little awkward now that it’s come to this… I was so worried all of this time about how difficult it would be to face the Quantum Ruler compared to the other Quantum Beings, all of whom were practically half clones of him. And yet, now I’m not even going to be fighting him.

I just have to snap him out of his broken mind and back to normal.

Of course, that’s not exactly easy to do either, but it’s probably easier than fighting him would be right now.

Then again, if it’s this broken version, fighting him would actually be very easy. I doubt he would even defend himself in this state.

Still. That’s beside the point.

I begin to walk closer to the Quantum Ruler, only to briefly notice traces of energy left by other Quantum Beings. One of which is the Quantum Vanguard, who seems to have been here very recently.

On top of that, I also sense numerous gazes locked onto this one location. All of whom are from Quantum Beings.

Almost like they’re all watching to see what happens.

None of them interfere, though. They just watch in silence.

So I decide to ignore their gazes as I move up towards the Quantum Ruler. Only stopping when I arrive just half a meter in front of him.

Despite my proximity, the Quantum Ruler doesn’t move. His expression doesn’t change and he doesn’t react in any way.

He just continues to stare blankly ahead like a broken doll.

It’s honestly a little depressing to see. Especially when I think about how he is the strongest being in the universe. Except maybe the Corrupted One.

Hmm. Now the question is how I’m supposed to snap him out of this.

I purse my lips and cross my arms for a few seconds in thought before going ahead and trying the first thing that comes to mind when snapping someone out of a stupor.

Violence.

I punch him in the face. But the only thing that happens is his head moving slightly backwards and nothing more.

Right. This is the actual Quantum Ruler. Not a clone from the past, when he was weaker.

Meaning he’s a lot stronger than me right now.

Plus I don’t have any resistance or immunity to his energy, not that it matters much when I’m not fighting him.

I guess violence isn’t a very good answer.

Silence fills the throne room as I stare at him for a few more seconds.

Another try doesn’t hurt.

And this is absolutely not because of all those times he tried making me call him Grandpa or Grandfather.

I pull out my scythe before slashing at his shoulder. Only for my scythe to barely pierce even half an inch into his body. Then it’s forced back out and his body heals instantly.

Damn, this guy is tough…

So much for my totally not revenge.

I try a few other attacks, but none of them work either. Even when I use energy.

The Quantum Ruler is just too powerful for someone at my level.

I have to wonder just how much longer he’s been alive than the other Quantum Beings? Also, the fact that he has the powers of every one of the other nine Quantum Beings in him, seeing as he’s their origin, makes him significantly stronger on its own.

And yet, he’s still in this state.

It really does go to show that power isn’t always absolute.

I squat down in front of him, sitting on my heels with my face resting against the palm of my hand, and my elbow on my knee in thought. Just staring at him while half leaning on the scythe in my other hand and wondering just how to snap this guy out of it.

Because if I don’t manage to do that, it looks like I’ll be here forever.

After a few seconds, I climb to my feet again while dismissing my scythe. Then I begin poking the Quantum Ruler’s face and saying, “Could you please wake up so that I can go? I would appreciate it.”

That doesn’t work.

Of course it doesn’t.

I let out a sigh at that before grabbing the Quantum Ruler’s eyelid and opening it wide to see if that’ll do anything. Then, when that fails, I grab his arm and pull him off the throne. Just tossing him on the ground while sitting on his throne in his place.

If I’m gonna be stuck here lost in thought, I should be the one getting the seat.

He can just sit on the floor.

Now then.

How to snap him out of this…
