Alexia

After that completely pointless argument, the Quantum Ruler moves onto important matters.

“The wounds the Corrupted One received during his attack on the Universe’s Will’s Core will take years to heal,” the Ruler states while crossing his arms. “During this time, he is no doubt hiding away outside of the boundaries of the universe.”

“Can’t we just find a rift and leave the universe to find him and attack him while he’s weak?” I ask with a frown.

The Ruler shakes his head, “That’s not possible. The corruption outside of the universe has grown so thick that not even I can safely step outside. The best we can do is begin clearing it out while destroying the corruption inside of the universe.”

Upon hearing his words, everyone here turns to look at the Quantum Cleaner. Who, in turn, points at himself before scowling.. No doubt because he just realized his game time is going to be drastically reduced with this job.

He’s the only one aside from the Ruler who can clean and restore the corruption, though. So there’s no other choice.

“And me?” I ask with a slight tilt of my head.

The Quantum Beings look at me again as the Ruler answers, “I would like you to focus on destroying the corruption already within the universe, while the Vanguard will destroy the corruption trying to enter the universe. Keeping it from spreading further. We will progress further with a plan once you have grown enough in power to handle it. Assuming you agree to aid us in saving this universe.”

I can’t help but grimace a little at that. Because I know I’m still weak compared to their current states.

From my calculations, I’ll have to hit at least level five thousand to be as strong as these Quantum Beings are now.

The only reason I was able to defeat both the Quantum Balancer and Enforcer is my immunity to and devouring of their energies. If I didn’t have those, they would’ve crushed me with ease.

Our battles were still relatively even, with me just having a bit of an advantage. And this was with me having a resistance to most of their energy while also passively devouring a lot of it as well to increase my own energy.

The problem is that I won’t be passively devouring the corrupted energy from the Corrupted One. I might be immune to his corruption, but that’s not all the Corrupted One can use.

Which I didn’t know until now.

“He… can use my own energy?” I mutter with a frown, feeling mildly shocked.

I’d be more shocked if I didn’t already figure out that he was the previous quantum Reaper. But I’m still shocked. Since I just kind of assumed he was fully corrupted and could only use corrupted energy.

“He can still use his own former energy,” the Ruler confirms again. “He’s different from the rest of the corrupted. His mind is in the process of being fully devoured by the corruption following his body, but since the corruption affecting him came directly from the source of the corruption, it’s transformed him into a source as well.”

Well that’s not good.

If he can use my own energy against me, I don’t have a resistance against that. I’m fully immune to his corruption, and I have some resistance towards special quantum energies I haven’t completed trials for just from my basic quantum energy resistance, but I can’t devour my own energy.

I grit my teeth as I look down in thought.

Wait, why am I not resistant to my own energy?

I can’t help but frown at that thought. Then I raise my head as I ask, “Is there any way to develop a resistance to my own energy?”

“Yes,” the Ruler answers immediately. “The way the trials worked was granting you the recorded powers possessed by the previous Quantum Reaper whenever you met the qualifications for them. But since the previous Quantum Reaper never had a reason to, he never created nor was given a resistance to his own energy.”

Right. There was only one Quantum Reaper back then, so there wasn’t a reason to.

“I will personally train you in your energy manipulation, so make sure you practice while you’re leveling up,” he continues. “Our goal is to have you capable of manipulating the energy in your body to grant you immunity to your own energy, and to raise at least three more of your skills to Ascendant Tier by the time the Corrupted One reemerges.”

That’s a lot for a single goal.

Still. Just imagining what will happen if the Corrupted One recovers and is left unchecked. Even with the other Quantum Beings here.

It certainly doesn’t help that I killed one of the combat Quantum Beings. Although I at least made up for that by bringing back the Ruler.

I glance at the skills I currently have equipped as I briefly consider which ones to focus on bringing to Ascendant Tier.

Universal Judgment is a must to reach Ascendant Tier. Since it’s a major skill from another Quantum Being. Not to mention that it’s a combat skill.

As for Universal Balance? That one is a passive skill, and passive skills are harder to level up.

I should be able to level up a lot of my passive skills simultaneously, though. Just from going around slaughtering corrupted creatures by the millions.

The more targets for them to passively affect, the more they’ll level up.

Observation Effect Absorption should be a major skill to level up as well. Simply because of how powerful its singular blows can end up being. Not to mention Quantum Reversal, since I don’t think the Corrupted One should be able to halt my time reversal healing.

I take a deep breath while pausing my thoughts for a moment, then I focus on the Ruler as I reach out my hand and declare, “I look forward to working with you, Quantum Ruler.”

Except your piranhas.

He smiles and grabs my hand in return, stating, “You as well, Quantum Reaper.”
