The Corrupted One just stares at me after I arrive. He doesn’t move to attack. He doesn’t do anything else. Just stares.

And it’s kind of creepy.

Or at least, I think he’s staring. It’s a little hard to tell when he doesn’t have eyes.

The symbol on his face is pointed directly at me, though, so I think he’s staring.

Or it’s staring?

The System called the Corrupted One and it. And his body is clearly not human at all anymore. It doesn’t even look like either gender with nothing at all down below, and even just a flat surface all over its torso.

No signs of a gender at all anymore.

And the Corrupted One’s actions don’t look like something an intelligent creature would be doing. More like an animal when it tilts its head like that.

Was the Ruler’s brother completely erased in the Corrupted One’s mind with that injury?

It’s entirely possible. And the feeling I get from my senses tells me that this Corrupted One is just a large mass of corruption. Not an actual creature.

In that case, it looks like there’s really no saving the Quantum Ruler’s brother anymore.

I stare back at the Corrupted One while trying to finish up my immunity as quickly as possible. And, at the same time, I send out quantum energy to begin erasing numerous corrupted creatures trying to enter the universe.

The other Quantum Beings here are helping keep a lot of these corrupted creatures in check, but there are still a lot that are getting past them as well. Even the Quantum Ruler is struggling to keep up with all of them. So much so that he can’t go to the Corrupted One to either fight or talk.

I’m not sure which he will try doing. Or would try doing, if he could.

What’s more proving that the Corrupted One likely got rid of the former Quantum Reaper’s mind is that it doesn’t even spare the Ruler a glance. Despite how many times the Ruler has been looking his way while trying to push past the corrupted creatures blocking him from the Corrupted One.

Then something strange happens while I’m putting the finishing touches on my immunity.

The Corrupted One suddenly begins to move forward in my direction at a speed so fast I can barely keep up with it through my eyes. Only for the symbol on its face to suddenly glitch before the Corrupted One halts as if frozen in place for a moment.

Is that… normal?

Whatever it is, the Corrupted One continues moving towards me a few seconds later. Just to glitch again and freeze up.

And this process repeats itself numerous times as I finish up my immunity at last.

At this point, I don’t think this is normal. Even for the Corrupted One.

Is the former Quantum Reaper really still in there?

Either way, I let out a breath of relief the moment I finish building my immunity. Then I focus on the Corrupted One and all of the corrupted energy inside of it.

And the moment I do, I feel an instinctive fear towards this creature. Because it has hundreds if not thousands of times as much energy as I have.

Holy fucking shit…

The majority of the corrupted energy is centered inside of a single core located in the Corrupted One’s torso. But the rest of the energy leaks out to form its body, clearly showing that the body is nothing but energy.

Yeah, this is not a Quantum Being anymore.

I also highly doubt I’ll be able to kill such a creature on my own. Even after all of my training.

Honestly, I get the feeling that I’d be dead with just a single punch if this was before I completed my core. It’s just that powerful.

In that case…

I turn my attention to the massive swarms of corrupted creatures that are being barely held back by the other Quantum Beings. At which point I finally try out one of the latest skills to bring to Ascendant Tier. One whose effect I haven’t actually tested yet, but I have some hope for.

My passive skill, Potential Harvest, has gained an active effect ever since reaching Tier 5. And now that active effect should be a lot stronger after reaching Ascendant Tier.

If I want any chance at killing the Corrupted One, I’m going to need the help of these Quantum Beings. I am not strong enough to fight it on my own.

As for the reason these Quantum Beings are all being tied up?

It’s time to see if my skill can handle that.

Without hesitation, I activate the active skill of Potential Harvest. And the moment I do, I feel an extreme amount of energy being ripped out of trillions of corrupted creatures all around us. Killing all of the corrupted creatures except for the Corruptor level ones and dragging all of their energy into me.

I can’t help but suck in a breath from pain at the sheer amount of energy being pumped into me. But that’s not all as the corruption in the energy has to be purified to normal energy while in my body, which causes extreme pain in the process.

But at the end of the day, it works. The corrupted creatures who were drained begin to glitch apart before vanishing. Leaving the Quantum Beings staring in shock at me and the now-largely-empty area around us.

This Ascendant Tier skill lets me drain the energy of as many targets around me as I want so long as the targets are sufficiently weaker than me. Although it doesn’t work on actually powerful foes. It even converts corrupted energy into regular energy so that I’m not affected by it.

I’d say it’s pretty useful in this situation.

A grin spreads across my face as I look at the Corrupted One who is staring at me without any sign of being surprised.

Now to turn around this numbers game.
