For those of you who are reading this on a website that is not Patreon, please stop. You're reading a pirated version. Instead, if you would be so kind, please click on the table of contents link below and go to my Patreon instead. Or even read it off of Royal Road, which is free.
Oh btw, for those of you who haven't seen, I did actually go back and edit a couple chapters to include more mentions and scenes of Luna. Specifically during Astrid's wedding.
Just in case you were curious about her whereabouts before this final battle.

Alexia
I grit my teeth at the faint exhaustion I feel filling me before pushing myself to move in the direction of the Corrupted One. Because I can tell it’s still alive, even if it looks incredibly weakened from that attack.
Its core is currently fluctuating, and its total energy reserves were cut down to just a couple percentage points left.
That much is clear as I get closer. But the question is just how weak has it become.
Can it still fight back?
And my answer comes shockingly fast as the Corrupted One suddenly raises its head, with the symbol on its face flashing so brightly I have to squint. Then the thing moves like a blur, appearing in front of me and creating numerous swords to slash right at me.
I barely manage to teleport backwards in time, but it doesn’t matter.
Because the Corrupted One in front of me vanishes like an afterimage, and I feel a strange sensation coming from behind me.
When I look down and then turn my head around to look at the Corrupted One I see behind me, I find what appears to be a single powerful looking sword sticking straight through my back and out my chest. But when the sword vanishes, no wound appears.
I blink in surprise for a moment, only to spin around and slice my scythe straight through the Corrupted One. Erasing a decent chunk of his remaining energy in the process.
My skill.
It activated and saved me.
I smile as the skill’s description appears in my vision.
{Quantum Superimposition: Attacks against the user have a small chance of attacking a different, nonexistent version of the user from another parallel space. Thereby dealing no damage to the user.}
Now that’s good luck.
I manage to deal one more strike to the Corrupted One before it reforms that same powerful-looking sword from before. One that looks much stronger than its previous swords.
Except that this time the sword begins to glitch.
Once. Then twice.
Then it transforms into a very familiar form to me.
A scythe.
My eyes narrow before I try to strike at the Corrupted One again while he’s distracted with his weapon. But that doesn’t work as the Corrupted One swings its own scythe to meet mine, making a powerful shockwave rush out from between us as I’m sent flying by his more powerful strike.
I try to teleport away, only to find some sort of temporary lockdown appearing out of nowhere. The lockdown is a space-time lockdown blocking teleportation. And even though it is highly resisted by me, it still lasts for a fraction of a second.
Which is more than enough for the Corrupted One to reach me at its speed.
My life up until now rapidly flashes before my eyes one scene after another as the skill Temporal Perception activates. But thanks to the lockdown, all it does is let me witness what will be my death happening in slow motion.
I feel… regret.
Regret about how I’ve lived until now, constantly fighting without spending much time with my family even after finding them.
Regret about not being able to spend much time with my niece and nephew, or with Luna, while I was training.
And regret about not being able to save everyone myself.
Still. I think I probably weakened the Corrupted One enough by now for the others to finish it off after me.
Hopefully.
Right as I’m mentally readying myself for it, I feel a pull on the one connection I have left with the outside universe. Then a very familiar bat appears coming from a portal that appears right on my chest. That bat then rushes straight at the Corrupted One while slamming her body into him as his scythe is still raised and is about to be lowered. Using her much smaller size to go beneath the blade.
I watch in awe as time begins to speed up, and the Corrupted One is sent flying by Luna.
“Holy shit…” I mutter before Luna turns into her humanoid form, harumphs once with her arms crossed, then turns around and rushes to hug me.
“I’m so glad you’re okay…” she murmurs into my chest, making me smile.
I place my hand on her head by instinct as she hugs me, but even as I do that, I can’t help but almost laugh at the absurdity of this situation.
Luna, who I’ve always left behind in order to protect her, came to save me at the last moment.
It’s only now that I’m genuinely remembering this, but Luna was technically a reward from the System meant to help me fight. I’ve just grown too used to thinking of her as a daughter that I needed to protect.
Not as a partner who can fight alongside me.
I eventually chuckle before turning serious again as Luna and I separate to face the Corrupted One, who is currently rushing back towards us. Then Luna suddenly hands me a jewel for some reason.
“This is something all of the Quantum Uncles and Grandpas made,” Luna says, confusing me for a brief moment at the term ‘Quantum Uncles and Grandpas’. But only a moment.
What I sense in the jewel is far more important than that question.
The jewel is filled with an immense amount of energy. No doubt the energy that all of the Quantum Beings currently have left in their tanks that wasn’t able to be used. Not to mention the energy they regained from the System’s little donation fund that, also, didn’t get to be used. Besides healing them, of course.
It even has most of Luna’s energy in it.
I can’t help but grin as I feel all of the energy crammed inside of this jewel.
It’s exactly the energy that I need to finish this battle once and for all.
Luna floats backwards to give me space as I begin to slowly float forward towards the approaching Corrupted One. Then I resummon my scythe that was lost when I was sent flying before crushing the jewel in my hand and feeling all of the energy being drawn into me.
I push all of that energy directly into my scythe as the Corrupted One itself stops for a moment and begins to push the rest of its own energy into its scythe as well.
“Let’s end this,” I coldly declare, my voice echoing to fill the corrupt wasteland around us.
