The void demi-god becomes far easier to deal with once it is marked by Eternal Snow. Simply because it is easier to keep track of, and slower on top of that.
As for the actual damage dealt by Eternal Snow and Gaze of Destruction?
The two skills are meant more for miscellaneous types of damage. Not direct burst damage.
Eternal Snow can become more burst damage since it affects all of the ice mana I use, but the specific effects of Eternal Snow is still a devouring type. One that affects the target slower than regular attacks.
Gaze of Destruction is just a passive, though, so I can’t deal a lot of damage immediately with it. Not to a monster at this level.
Still. The thing is still weaker than facing thousands of void monsters all at once. Thanks to that I gradually whittle it down until it’s finally almost dead.
Then the thing lets out a piercing screech that actually halts my thinking entirely for a few seconds. Only for blazing pain to replace it when my consciousness returns.
I look down to find half of my torso completely eviscerated. With the void demi-god right in front of me with some of its limbs and claws located where my eviscerated torso should be.
A moment passes before a powerful burst of Eternal Snow rushes out of both me and Leo. One that completely freezes the already-wounded void demi-god into a solid block of ice.
I then watch as the block of ice gradually shrinks thanks to the Eternal Snow devouring its body. All the way until the void demi-god is finally dead, and I get a few messages from the System including the mission details repeated.

You have slain one of the five Void Demi-Gods! Claim your reward if you want to survive the Void God’s Wrath!
Complete Objective 1 to conquer the Unique Domain.
Objective 1: Kill the Void God
Objective 2: Seal all twenty-five Void Rifts
Objective 3: Survive
Objective 4: Slay the five Void Demi-Gods
{You have slain a being while Assimilate is active. You have now unlocked the Skill Tree: Void Demi-God}
{You have unlocked a new Skill Tree, therefore the root skill of the Skill Tree, Void Constitution, is now unlocked for your usage.}
I grit my teeth as I feel both the pain from my eviscerated torso, along with what feels like a mutation. But I don’t see any obvious mutations despite the pain in the rest of my body, so I don’t stop it for now.
Instead I look at the description of my new skill to see.
{Void Constitution – Passively makes the user blend in with the void around them. When inside of the void, the user will be difficult to see, attack, or affect in any way by non-void creatures. The void becomes the user’s natural habitat.}
Huh.
It looks useful, but not right now. Considering that I am fighting nothing but void creatures here. So it won’t likely affect any of them at all.
I let out a sigh at the current uselessness of this skill. Even if it’ll be good later after I get out.
Well, whatever. At least it shouldn’t turn me into some abomination.
Putting that aside, I let numerous healing and other recovery skills do their thing. Gradually restoring my body to perfect condition again.
It’s a good thing I’ve been making sure to use as little energy as possible to conserve it…
The pain eventually goes away after my body is fully restored. With my armor and clothes restoring themselves at the same time.
I stretch a little for a moment before looking at the Skill Tree given to me by the void demi-god. At which point I find a few relatively interesting skills branching from the root. Not to mention some skills I don’t want to ever touch since they are obviously mutation skills.
The first skill of interest to me is one that increases my resistance to any and all void related attacks other than True Damage attacks. Which should help against the Void God, even if it’s useless against the Void God’s black fog.
Fortunately, I have two defenses against the black fog through Chaotic Source and Steadfast Heart. So the black fog, while still a problem, isn’t an emergency.
What is the bigger threat to me from the Void God is its regular attacks. Since I know just how powerful the skills of a Unique Being are from my own Unique Skills.
I’m sure the Void God must have numerous regular, non-True Damage mental attacks as well. And this skill should help protect me from those.
Other than that skill, there’s also a skill that lets me launch my own mental attacks. Which should be useful, albeit not as useful after I take the Skill Tree from the Unique Monster.
Lastly, there’s a skill that lets me make a mind barrier to protect myself from mental attacks. But, again, it doesn’t protect against True Damage. Only regular mental attacks.
That’s still useful, though. So I go ahead and unlock all three skills.
I have a good amount of Skill Points built up from hunting in this Unique Domain, after all.
After doing that, I look around in search of the reward the System Message mentioned before finding a large pitch black crystal in the shape of a rhombus not far from me. Right where the void demi-god died.
Fragment of the Void God’s Core
Description: One fifth of the Void God’s Core. Once gathered together, the Void God’s fog will treat the holder as the Void God itself and not harm them lest directly ordered to by the Void God.
Affects: Grants the holder the aura of the Void God once merged with the other four fragments.
My eyes narrow at the crystal’s description. Because it is very unexpected.
The words in the System Message come to mind again.
Surviving the Void God’s Wrath…
This core, when restored, will make the Void God’s fog ignore me unless directed to attack by the Void God personally. Which probably means there will be some sort of attack that’ll flood the area with fog not directly under the Void God’s control.
Kind of like the fog released from the totems.
In fact, it’s even possible that the Void God might be able to make it so that the fog released by the totems could hurt me too. Maybe.
Unique Monsters in Unique Domains are always possible to clear if someone goes in from the start and does everything they need to do. So the Unique Domain wouldn’t trick me about the totems. That much I’m certain of from all my research into Unique Domains and what Chaos has told me.
But that doesn’t mean there aren’t hidden threats.
Like the gunpowder in the King of Destruction’s Unique Domain back then. That was extremely dangerous for me.
I purse my lips in thought for a moment before shaking my head. Then I grab the fragment and put it away while leaving the rift and letting it seal behind me.
A faint grimace spreads across my face at the thought of having to go to another one of these rifts. Not to mention having to deal with another void demi-god like the one that just eviscerated me.
I may be used to and good at ignoring pain, but that doesn’t mean I like it and want to feel it.
It’s still unpleasant.
And mental attacks are far worse.
I let out a sigh before beginning to make my way over towards the next void rift. Letting my energy recover some along the way.
At least I should be able to take a break when I arrive.
I need to recover energy to make sure nothing can kill me.
It’s absolutely not just that I don’t want to go in and am procrastinating.
Absolutely not.
