The discussions continue for the entire duration of the two hour period, with the orcs going down to speak with some other City Lords, and the zelbar staying off on their own. Just sending representatives to go speak with the other zelbar down on lower platforms while the Zelbar Queen stays in her own booth. No doubt too arrogant and proud to step down herself, or to speak with any non-zelbar species.
Of course, the orcs aren’t much better as they only speak with some of the more arrogant species. And they rarely ever end up with positive results.
The species that do the most negotiating seems to be humans, voidlings – since Rex and some of the other voidlings with me went down to speak with other City Lords – and the elves.
As for the dwarves? They don’t do much at all. They kind of just stick to their own in their booths.
I guess that’s a craftsman mentality?
Anyway, the two hour window eventually draws to an end, leaving a new wave of System Messages appearing before me.
◊ A vote will now be held to determine the World Leader of the Gaia Cluster. ◊
◊ In order for a World Leader to be selected, a single user must receive 75% of the votes. Should a World Leader not be selected during a World Council, the vote will be repeated during the next World Council exactly one month later. ◊
◊ Please make your votes within ten seconds. ◊
Another message appears after that with a little text box letting you speak someone’s name into it to vote. So I immediately just state my own name just to make absolutely certain no zelbar or orc gets voted. Which shouldn’t actually be possible, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
A countdown starts with a message repeatedly changing from ten all the way to zero before another wave of messages appears.
◊ The results of the vote have been calculated. ◊
◊ The following users are the top three users amongst the selected City Lords. ◊
◊ 1. Aidan Vale – 24% ◊
◊ 2. Vex'thara – 18% ◊
◊ 3. Zryss the Fangsplitter – 16% ◊
◊ No user has been selected as the World Leader during this election. A second election will be held after the Battle Royale in two weeks. Please prepare your champions if you are selecting a representatives. Otherwise, please prepare to compete in the Battle Royale for the position of Champion. ◊
My eyes narrow slightly at the results.
No one has anywhere near the votes needed to be selected right now, but that doesn’t change the fact that it is a lot closer than I was expecting. And I’m sure it’s less optimistic considering the sheer number of votes I myself have compared to the others. Which makes my lead look less impressive.
At the same time, it is understandable that no one else is in the top three. The voidlings, zelbar, and orcs are the three most united species on the planet by far.
The humans are split up between numerous groups, even if Akira is at the head of the biggest faction. The dwarves are craftsmen who might not even know who the most influential dwarven City Lord is. The elves are also more secluded, just like the dwarves, albeit not to the same degree and for a different reason.
And the wraths barely even have settlements of their own. They’re more mercenary type.
Lastly, the lizardkin work in tribes, and the ratkin are more prone to stealing the shirts off of their own kings than anything else.
Meanwhile the voidlings and zelbar follow a strict hierarchy, and the orcs are just plain terrified of their king.
It would be more shocking if a different species got in the top three.
Things should change over the next two weeks, though. Specifically as the different System Cities speak amongst themselves and get a better understanding of everyone’s situation.
My contemplating comes to an end when more System Messages appear in my vision.
◊ To celebrate the very first World Council meeting, the cluster of Gaia is hereby granted a single World Trait. This World Trait will be chosen through a vote by all members on the World Council out of the following three randomly selected World Traits. ◊
◊ The selection will take place in one hour, and this World Trait will apply to the cluster of Gaia as a direct law. ◊
◊ 1. Global Assault Expansion – All users of the cluster and planet known as Gaia may send one additional concurrent Assault. ◊
◊ 2. Global Walls Upgrade – All current and future System Cities of the cluster and planet known as Gaia start out with walls one level advanced past their current walls’ design. Therefore advancing all Basic City Walls into Advanced City Walls and so on. ◊
◊ 3. Global Boss Unlock – All users of the cluster and planet known as Gaia naturally unlock one boss monster species at random that they may send to enemy worlds in their Assaults. ◊
And here it is. The first World Trait.
Seraphyne told me they existed, but she couldn’t say much more about them due to System restrictions. So I’m not surprised to see them.
What I am surprised about is how useful they seem.
All three traits are useful for the planet as a whole. Although only the first two are useful to me.
I don’t actually need the third option, since I already have a stronger boss than what I can assume this World Trait would unlock for me.
Of course, theoretically, it would still be very beneficial to the planet as a whole. Simply because it would mean everyone on the planet can send official boss monsters with their Assaults. But also probably not as beneficial as that sounds, since nowhere near everyone would be able to afford the War Point cost for that.
After all, a boss costs twenty-five thousand War Points to send.
Which is quite expensive for the average user.
In terms of the global benefit, the first and second options would probably be better. Since the first option will increase the number of Assaults every user on the planet can send at any given time by one. Significantly increasing the number of dungeons on the enemy planet, along with the number of Victory and Event Points earned by the users on Gaia.
And the second option will increase the safety of the users on Gaia by upgrading the walls of every single System City on Gaia from those basic little crappy walls someone could just jump over at Bronze Tier to actual Advanced City Walls. Not to mention giving me a nice jump from Advanced City Walls to whatever was after that in the upgrade tree.
I purse my lips for a second before giving Rex, who is standing next to me again alongside the other voidlings who came with me, a sign for one or two. Signaling that I am fine with either one or two being chosen.
Then I just rest my cheek against my fist while leaning my elbow on the throne as the other groups all begin discussing amongst each other.
And, as usual, the discussions start with the orcs as the Orc King opens with a suggestion. But unlike usual, I actually don’t disagree with his suggestion this time.
Not entirely, at least.
Since he suggests we go with option one.
After him, the Zelbar Queen suggests option two.
Honestly, these suggestions don’t surprise me in the least. Since they both probably already have boss monsters unlocked by now through some means, considering their ranking, and the orcs tend to be more aggressive in attacking others while the zelbar are more aggressive in defending their territory. So it makes sense the orcs would want the additional Assault slot, and the zelbar would want the upgraded walls.
Either way, I’m happy. Which means I can stay out of this argument.
Soon more parties begin to join in the discussion, finally growing some spine. Enough to argue with the zelbar and orcs, at least.
Specifically human parties at that.
But very few groups vote for option three. Probably because of the same reason I ruled it out.
Bosses are too expensive for most people to send. It would be a waste to take that option.
It might be different in the future, but this is the present. Not the future.
Anyway, I sit back and watch the arguments ensue. And they all surprisingly leave me out of it.
Even Rex doesn’t say much since they’re mostly arguing about the two options I signaled to him.
All the way until the end of the voting period arrives.
Let’s see what they ended up choosing.
