Furtruna’s World Council Chamber
A dead silence fills the chamber as the different City Lords of Furtruna focus on the few City Lords on the top central platform. All of whom are the users at the peak of their Cluster Leaderboards.
“Does everyone agree?” Leonhart Fallo the Eighth declares with a frown, following which all of the City Lords and other high ranking high level users present all nod their heads in agreement. “Then we will postpone the selection of World Leader until the Battle Royale so as to focus on the impending threat known as the Void Crowne.”
“Is it confirmed? That the Void Crowne’s latest Assaults are following the same pattern as the mineshaft Assault we faced?” Rhetfel Igni asks with a scowl.
“Yes,” McKayne Ivy, leader of the strongest city of elves, answers while holding a teacup. “We have more severe problems to worry about. The elven general of Rilan has told me about some of the skills a Void Crowne can obtain, and if the Void Crowne begins infusing those skills into his monsters, we will be in trouble.”
“And what if he obtained a Unique Skill from one of his Unique Loot Boxes?” Rhetfel asks, turning his scowl towards the elf.
McKayne narrows her eyes for a moment before taking a sip of tea and answering, “Then we must prepare to lose a lot of cities.”
Her words send a chill down the spines of all those listening.
No one says anything for several seconds. And even after the silence is broken, the users merely begin talking amongst themselves in their separate booths.
Eventually Leonhart breaks the stalemate as he says, “We need to gather a team of users and have every user on the team purchase the perk to send ourselves through the Assaults.”
His words crush the pride of the various City Lords, but no one argues with them despite that. Because they all know full well at this point that they won’t be able to handle a constant surge of Assaults from the Void Crowne.
They can handle them every now and then, but if the Void Crowne begins infusing his skills into his monsters, there will be too many casualties. And that isn’t even considering how the Assaults may end up too far from one of them for them to reach it in time, and some may not be reported and will eventually break after not being found.
“I propose a law requiring all users to report the location of the Void Crowne’s Assaults the moment they find them,” Leonhart adds after some thought while activating a function that seals off their level of the chamber, blocking the rest of the City Lords and users from hearing them.
“And how do you suppose we enforce that?” McKayne asks with a single raised brow before sipping her tea. “The planet is far too large, and there is no efficient method to enforce it.”
“Too many have seen the rewards given by the Void Crowne’s dungeons,” Rhetfel says with a shake of his own head. “The most we can do is threaten the users to report it.”
Leohart grits his teeth at their words. Especially since he already knew everything they’re saying.
He also knows full well that there is no verifiable way to prove if a user or System City had already discovered the dungeon before it breaks and becomes obvious to the other System Cities around it.
This is becoming too difficult to manage.
Normally he wouldn’t care about the other species getting wiped out by the Void Crowne’s Assaults. But their war is placing them all on the same team. He doesn’t have a choice in the matter but to care at least a little bit about their world as a whole.
“We need to do something about it,” Leonhart says. “He may only be a single user in the war, but he is still a major threat if left unchecked.”
The others on the top floor of the World Council Chamber share a look before Rain Fall of the nymphs declares, “Then let us discuss.”
Immediately after that, the various top City Lords of Furtruna begin to plan out how to deal with the Void Crowne. All while the rest of the City Lords and users in the chamber begin to speak amongst themselves, building ties and making their own agreements.
Disregarding the original purpose of this time given by the System in the process.
