I reach the next void rift, enter it, clear out monsters, and move onto the next void rift. Over and over again. All the way until I find and defeat the next void demi-god. Then I repeat the process through the next void rifts, with each void demi-god seemingly being in every fifth rift without fail.
Regardless of the pain, I continue to push myself. All while keeping myself motivated through watching the regular updates on the System Forums about the war.
Because the war is progressing. And not in a good direction.
Over the course of the past several days, the forces of Val have lost a good third of their number. Meanwhile the other planets have only lost a quarter each at most.
On top of that, some of them are starting to seriously gang up on Val after realizing that Val is still quite powerful even without me.
It does have several Successors, after all. Unlike some of the other planets in the war who only have ‘fake Successors’. Ones chosen by the Primordial of Sin for no other reason than to pick a fight with Val.
That’s one bright side about the Primordials who have a lot of Successors. Those Successors tend to be weaker since the Primordials’ bottom line of how talented a user must be to be chosen is a lot lower. Hence how they chose a lot more as Successors in the first place.
Unlike the Primordials who only have a few total Successors and are extremely picky about them. Choosing only the best of the best.
And speaking of Successors, I saw quite a few posts on the System Forums about another Successor being dragged into a Unique Domain recently. That being a Successor of Void, and one of the Royal Guards of the Hive Queen. A very powerful and influential S Class Successor.
He was dragged into a Class S Unique Domain.
A Chaos element Unique Domain at that.
All across the System Forums, numerous people are all speculating about if it was Chaos’ doing or not. But there isn’t any actual proof on the matter, and it’s not like they could really punish him even if it was his doing.
Which I’m pretty sure is his doing.
It just sounds like something Chaos would do. Getting revenge by doing the exact same thing to Nyx as she did to me.
As for why people know Nyx did it to me, but they aren’t certain about whether or not Chaos did it to the Successor of Void? That would be because Chaos made a huge fuss when I was dragged into this Unique Domain. Yet, Nyx hasn’t said a single word about her own Successor being dragged into the chaos affinity Unique Domain.
Probably because she is known to be rather indifferent and difficult to get a grasp on. Even towards her own Successors, she’s never shown any real care. Unlike the other Primordials who all care about their Successors in one way or another.
Although Erebos’ ‘care’ is more of a ‘thinking of them as tools’ sort of care rather than caring about them directly. Which is messed up in its own way.
That aside, I wouldn’t be surprised if the other Primordials start making laws to ban this whole act of guiding Unique Domains to form on top of people thanks to this. It would be weirder if they don’t, considering how many times this has happened now.
I’m more curious as to how they’re even doing this. Since, with the exception of Chaos, Primordials can’t make their own monsters, much less Unique Monsters and Unique Domains. So I have to wonder how they’re guiding these Unique Domains to appear in specific locations.
Is there some sort of item or object that appears before a Unique Domain forms? Something they’re moving to another location to control where it appears?
Or what?
Chaos is different, though, since he can probably just make his own Unique Monster and Unique Domain. He is of the chaos affinity, after all. Not to mention that he’s a Unique Monster himself.
I purse my lips at that thought before shaking my head and finally climbing to my feet from my place sitting on a floating throne made of ice. Then I enter the last void rift that I’ve been procrastinating entering for a little while now as I recover my energy.
And, as usual, I feel quite a bit of pain throughout the process of clearing the rift of monsters and eventually defeating the void demi-god in it. Following which an item appears in the void demi-god’s place, and a wave of System Messages appear.

You have slain the last of the five Void Demi-Gods! Claim your reward if you want to survive the Void God’s Wrath!
Complete Objective 1 to conquer the Unique Domain.
Objective 1: Kill the Void God
Objective 2: Seal all twenty-five Void Rifts
Objective 3: Survive
Objective 4: Slay the five Void Demi-Gods
{You have slain a being while Assimilate is active. You have now unlocked the Skill Tree: Void Demi-God}
{You have unlocked a new Skill Tree, therefore the root skill of the Skill Tree, Void Constitution, is now unlocked for your usage.}
I fall backwards after the stupid thing is finally dead, just letting my body float in the void as I pant in exhaustion. Not from actual physical exertion, but from the mental exhaustion caused by all of that mind-splitting pain.
What’s worse is that I know it’s not going to get better. Not when I go to fight the Void God.
Just because I have resistances and immunities to its True Damage mental attacks doesn’t mean I will have any against its regular mental attacks.
Which means I’m going to be experiencing far worse pain against the Void God than here.
A small part of me actually wants to cry just at the thought of it despite how ironic that feeling is. Considering how much I’ve grown used to pain over my time in the System. To the point that I can ignore most pain by now.
Mental attacks suck…
I continue just floating in silence for a little bit before finally moving towards the core fragment. And the moment I touch the thing, the rest of the core fragments all rush out at the same time and merge with it. Forming a single solid core of black void energy.
The core is leaking out small amounts of the black fog, but after I touch the core, the fog doesn’t affect me at all. Meanwhile a description for the item appears above it.
Void God’s Core
Description: The core of the Unique Monster known as the Void God. Once a user is bound to the core, the Void God’s fog will treat them as the Void God itself and not harm them lest directly ordered to by the Void God.
Affects: Grants the user the aura of the Void God, making ambient, uncontrolled fog ignore the user.
Good. Now I don’t have to worry about any of the black fog that isn’t directly being controlled by the Void God. Which should help me out a lot.
I try to put the core into a storage ring, only to find that it won’t work. So I put it into my pocket instead.
Fortunately, the core isn’t very big, making it fit rather easily in the pocket.
I step out of the rift as it seals itself behind me, following which two things happen one after the other.
First, the mission message appears again marking the objective for sealing all of the rifts complete. Then I hear a loud noise that I recognize as the Void God’s screech echo all across the void.
I guess it sensed either that all of the void rifts were sealed, or that I have its core.
Either way, it doesn’t look like it is happy about it.
I close my eyes and take a moment to calm myself. Mentally preparing to face the pain that will be coming soon.
Finally, when I open my eyes again, I see the faintest hints of black fog beginning to approach from the distance.
It’s almost here.
Time to end this Unique Domain and help save Blake.
And Val while I’m at it.
