I don’t really care much at the end of the day which out of options one or two is chosen, but if I had to choose one, I lean more towards option two. Simply because it will give my City Walls a nice and free boost to the next level of walls. I even made sure to confirm it with Seraphyne during the discussion of everyone else here that this World Trait will, in fact, upgrade every City Wall that is ever built once. Including City Walls that were already upgraded before this World Trait was put into effect.
So my City Walls will be upgraded from Advanced City Walls to… whatever is after advanced. All free of charge and without me even having to unlock the ability to build them.
Unlike the additional Assault slot which I can just purchase directly, option two gives me two things immediately. The automatic unlock of the next walls, along with the automatic purchase of said walls’ construction. All for free.
This World Trait does benefit users who have already upgraded their walls more than others, but it is still a major benefit to all of the planet. Since it will make every System City start with actual walls that can serve as walls.
◊ A vote will now be held to determine the first World Trait of the Gaia Cluster. ◊
◊ Please make your votes within ten seconds. ◊
I don’t hesitate when the vote arrives and immediately put all of my votes towards option two. And when the ten seconds come to an end, the result appears before everyone here.
◊ The results of the vote have been calculated. ◊
◊ The following users are the results voted upon by the gathered users and City Lords. ◊
◊ 1. Global Assault Expansion – 42% ◊
◊ 2. Global Walls Upgrade – 45% ◊
◊ 3. Global Boss Unlock – 13% ◊
◊ The World Trait chosen by the World Council of the Gaia Cluster has been decided! ◊
◊ The Gaia Cluster has gained the Global Walls Upgrade World Trait! All City Walls will now be upgraded by one level to the next form of City Walls, and all System Cities built in the future will start with Advanced City Walls instead of Basic City Walls! ◊
I can’t help but raise a brow at this result. Simply because it’s a little close.
Actually, it’s very close. To the point that my votes alone may have actually tipped the scales.
Maybe.
Not sure. I really don’t want to bother doing the exact math of how many votes are in this place, considering how many users here have more than one vote.
Then again, I don’t think I can do that math anyway. What with me not knowing just how many System Cities everyone here has.
No one looks particularly displeased with this result. Probably because most of the people here didn’t really care much which result between numbers one and two were chosen.
At most, the orcs and zelbar show some irritated looks towards the people on the lower platforms. Which I’m guessing is because of the number of votes for the third option.
It’s probably higher than they were expecting.
I don’t think it matters much, but these two are tyrants who love having control over everything. So they probably aren’t very happy with it.
There’s no real way to control everyone on a planet the size of this one, no matter how hard they try. The Gaia Planet, also known as the Gaia Cluster, is a planet formed from every single inhabited planet within the Gaia Cluster merging into one planet with all of their populations included. Excluding those who died during the Tutorial or were purged by the System for not reaching Bronze Tier.
Even with all of those deaths, there must still be hundreds of billions of people on this planet.
Although the number is probably dropping rapidly, considering the Assaults.
The only reason the users on the other side of the planet even know about the ones on the upper platforms is likely due to the World Chat and the Leaderboards. Not to mention the Kiosk.
I glance at the Orc King and the Zelbar Queen, who are currently glaring at the lower levels.
These two will only expand at faster speeds once more connections begin spreading across the planet. Since a lot of the orcs and zelbar probably don’t know how strong they are and are currently reluctant to join under them.
Not to mention that the orcs the Orc King used to lead were all terrified into submission, yet the new orcs from other planets have no idea who the Orc King is and won’t have that same fear of him.
There is a bright side to this, though. That being that they’ll have to focus a lot on inter-species conflicts until all of that is settled, so they won’t have the time to spare on other species during this period.
And I doubt the voidlings will ever be defeated in terms of numbers.
My thoughts come to a pause when another wave of System Messages appear before me.
◊ Gaia is currently at war with Furtruna. This war will last until one side has earned a certain number of Victory Points. The exact number of Victory Points necessary will be kept private by the System, however, a blue progress bar will be shown on the top of the Multiversal War Menu indicating how close your Cluster is to victory. Additionally, a red progress bar will be shown indicating how close your Cluster is to defeat. ◊
◊ Certain actions will grant additional Victory Points including but not limited to: Slaying Leaderboard Rankers of the opposing Planet whether personally or through your monsters, Destroying System Cities of the opposing Planet whether personally or through your monsters, Slaying the Champion of the opposing Planet chosen through their Battle Royale, Slaying the World Leader of the opposing Planet chosen through their World Council. ◊
◊ Once one side has completely filled their progress bar and obtained the required Victory Points necessary to win, the Multiversal War will be concluded, and the losing side will be declared a Vassal Planet belonging to the winning planet. ◊
◊ Once a planet is declared a Vassal Planet, a tenth of all War Points and Event Points earned by the planet will be distributed to all users of the planet they are a vassal of, known as their Lord Planet. Additionally, the Vassal Planet will follow the Lord Planet into every Multiversal War they enter, and all Victory Points earned by the Vassal Planet will count towards their Lord Planet’s score. Finally, one third of all Victory Points earned by users of the Vassal Planet will be distributed directly to the users of the Lord Planet for them to spend as they please. ◊
◊ Users of a Vassal Planet are forbidden from purposefully harming a user of their Lord Planet unless it is in self-defense. Breaking this law will result in the instant transfer of all the Vassal Planet user’s property to the user they harmed from the Lord Planet, and the System will judge directly whether or not the user of the Lord Planet was taking advantage of the System in any way to harm the Vassal Planet user. ◊
◊ Once a Vassal Planet has earned a certain number of Victory Points, they may purchase their freedom from the Lord Planet. The exact number of Victory Points necessary will be kept private, and a progress bar will always be shown at the top of all Vassal Planet users’ visions at all times. ◊
I don’t show any surprise at this, and neither do a lot of the City Lords here. No doubt for the same reason as me. Since I was already told ahead of time by Seraphyne what exactly happens to Vassal Planets upon losing.
It’s not pretty, but at most, it’s just them working for someone else and fighting for them. Almost like they’re repaying a debt they earned by losing the war without ever knowing if they’ll finish repaying it.
◊ This World Council has now come to a close. ◊
◊ All City Lords and users participating in the World Council may discuss and make connections amongst yourselves for six hours before you are forcibly sent back to Gaia. All City Lords and users who wish to leave early may do so via a temporary menu in the corner of your vision. ◊
◊ The Leaderboards will grant rewards at the end of this next week, and the Battle Royale will begin in two weeks. Please prepare in the meantime. ◊
Now it’s time for the official discussions part of the World Council that Seraphyne mentioned. Which will no doubt lead to a lot more zelbar and orcs joining forces with the Orc King and Zelbar Queen.
I let out a sigh at that thought before turning my attention to my sister.
Well, now is as good a time as any to show our connection to protect my family.
