NathanYear 2853 | Month 6 | Day 22

The ship continues on its way across the river for nearly a day before it arrives at a grand city with an enormous Magic Tower at its center.

This particular Magic Tower is the main Magic Tower of the Melcians continent, ruled over by the Mage of Storms, Drake Veldrebore. A Class S wind affinity magician who is specialized in lightning and is known for being able to summon enormous storms that can ravage an entire continent.

Of course, if that were all, then it wouldn’t be all that shocking for a lightning specialized Class S magician to do.

What is unusual about his spells is that he managed to discover a way to make his spells self-sufficient. Meaning that they fuel themselves through the ambient electrical charge in the air and the static charge in everything around it.

This would normally only work a little bit, but since the spell can be cast over enormous distances, all of the thunderclouds and high wind areas in that range are turned into sources of mana for him to fuel his spells. And, while he still won’t be able to make a spell cover an entire continent in thunderstorms support itself for very long, he can easily make a smaller thunderstorm over just a nation last for a long time.

After all, the area that the spell drains mana from doesn’t have to be the same area that the thunderstorm covers.

It’s also thanks to his frequent experiments that the Melcians continent is rather prone to having a lot of thunderstorms. Both because he is often making them to practice his spells and improve them, and because of the aftermath of his frequent spell changing the environment.

He is a Class S magician, with his mana capacity practically bordering pseudo Class SS magician level, so his spells have already damaged reality a little bit. Not enough to be dangerous, and they likely won’t ever cause enough damage to be dangerous since reality is still repairing itself at the same time, but it’s still enough to change the environment.

So nine days out of ten, the continent is covered in thunderstorms.

Like right now.

I narrow my eyes slightly at the sound of thunder crashing as we dock at a port.

What’s most interesting about this thunderstorm is that the lightning never strikes the ground in the city. Despite there being tall buildings around. It always strikes the ground outside of the city.

It also never strikes the water.

The lightning is clearly being guided by someone or something. All to make sure no damage is done to the people or infrastructure of the city itself.

I try to imagine what my Eternal Continent would look like if one of my elements ended up changing the very reality of the terrain. But it doesn’t really look very pretty.

If my fire mana were to affect the Eternal Continents, then the place would be a hot hellscape that no one would ever want to live in. And if the death mana affected it, then the entirety of the Eternal Continents would be just like the Kingdom of the Fallen. Filled with miasma and undead.

So not safe.

As for space mana? I could see it possibly just being filled with random portals leading to random locations. Which could be fun, but would also probably be rather dangerous.

Time mana would be a disaster, though. It would turn the Eternal Continents into a second coming of Chrono Island.

A place where time is frozen.

Although, I guess it could also speed up time. It probably depends on how reality is affected.

Regardless, this is a lesson for me not to experiment too much with wide-scale spells in my own territory. If I need to experiment with spells like this, I should go to the ocean and test them there. Or even in mana infested lands where reality is already badly damaged.

As for testing my spells against other magicians in combat? The only place I can think of for that, outside of this tournament, are the Grand Magician Games.

Despite being virtual, the virtual reality still reflects reality almost perfectly if not perfectly. So I can gradually raise my ranking amongst Class S magicians while experimenting.

Anyway, the people on the ship make preparations to enter the city, meanwhile I just yawn with my arms resting on the railing. Since I already have everything packed and ready.

Which is a very convenient aspect of being a space affinity magician.

I don’t need storage devices anymore. I just made a spatial pocket with a spell that can store anything I have in it. And unlike the storage devices that just close off a section of a mana plane for storage, mine makes its own space in the void. A space no one else can find.

Space mana makes things so very convenient.

It’s not even just storage, but travel as well. Since I can teleport with it.

Honestly, space mana is a lot more useful than my fire and death mana.

My thoughts come to a halt when I hear loud thunder echoing in the sky, making me look up to find a man slowly descending with lightning cracking all around him. And, while I’ve never met this man personally before, it’s pretty obvious who he is.

The man has long golden blue hair, with eyes sparkling with golden blue electricity. He is wearing a long and flowy robe, and has a naginata draped across his back that looks almost like a spear but with a very long blade at the end. Kind of like if someone had a long spear but stuck a sword on the end instead of a poky spear point. It’s also radiating electricity to the point that I think it would probably kill a regular person, or maybe even a magician, just from touching it.

He is Drake Veldrebore, the Class S, almost pseudo Class SS, wind magician of the Melcians.
