Ashley

Without any hesitation, I begin placing the totems and running for my life. Or flying for my life, technically.

I also make sure to leave lots of my blood behind as I fly while placing said totems. Making sure that the blood is in the path I take and doesn’t stray far.

After all, it likely won’t do much, but it should still help a bit. The blood will mutate the Void God upon contact, even if it’s only a tiny bit considering that the Void God is over a hundred meters long.

Unfortunately, the Void God is approaching faster than I’m fleeing. And soon enough, the thing reaches a distance close enough to begin attacking my mind.

…

{You have used up one charge of Chaotic Source! The True Damage has now been redirected! 20/30 charges remaining.}

{You have used up one charge of Chaotic Source! The True Damage has now been redirected! 19/30 charges remaining.}

On top of the True Damage that is redirected, I feel pain practically trying to split my skull open from regular mental attacks sent my way by the Void God. And this is with all of my resistances towards mental damage that I’ve built up from the monsters in this Unique Domain.

After a brief hesitation, I use a combination of skills I haven’t used before.

First I use Ashen Blizzard to spread ash all across the void around me, then I use Ashen Dispersal to turn my entire body into ash before reforming again hundreds of meters away. At which point I place another totem.

Doing this also brings me far enough away from the Void God to get out of its attack range. Giving me relief from its mental attacks.

The relief doesn’t last long before the Void God begins rushing forward at a much faster speed, surprising me in the process. But I just use another skill to directly teleport several dozen meters away. Then I use another skill to teleport again. And another after that.

I have plenty of teleportation type skills at this point, and using different skills like this lets me avoid the cooldowns entirely.

Thanks to that, I manage to get out of the Void God’s range for a bit again. I also set up another totem.

Then this process repeats itself over and over again as I flee while setting up the totems. Gradually expanding the range that the totem’s fog covers.

Eventually the Void God enters the range of the fog as well, making it get hit by its own True Damage.

The Void God surprisingly doesn’t move to get out of the range of the totems. In fact, it continues moving in the totems towards me as if it’s on a hunt and can’t distinguish danger.

Is it because the totems are made from its own power?

I narrow my eyes at that thought.

It could also be because the black fog has spread so far at this point that it’s covering almost everything in sight. I’m just not as affected by it thanks to the core making me immune to the ambient black fog.

And most of this black fog is ambient and not directly being controlled by the Void God.

As for my blood? I ran out of that a while ago, and while I do manage to injure my own wings to leak some blood. Enough that I automatically regenerate it just as quickly as I get injured. It isn’t actually doing much to the Void God.

The thing is already a mental attack focused monster, so its body doesn’t matter much. And the thing’s body is too large, so even the patches of mutated flesh on it aren’t affecting it much if at all.

It might build up over time to become effective, though. So there’s no reason not to continue doing it.

Unfortunately, the skills I have to protect and recover my body, like Amorphous Body, which makes it so that my body won’t be in danger no matter what organs are damaged so long as fifty percent of my body is fine, are useless against this boss. Simply because it hasn’t used even a single physical attack thus far.

Every single attack the Void God has used so far has been a mental attack.

Although that might be partially because I’ve been keeping as much distance between us as possible while I set up the totems. Which has worked splendidly so far.

Until I manage to set up the thirteenth totem, at which point everything changes.

The Void God suddenly lets out a screech that makes my head hurt so much that I black out for a single instant. And in that instant, the Void God begins to control its black fog directly instead of ambiently. So when I regain consciousness again, I feel the black fog pushing on me and trying to crush me.

I grit my teeth at the discomfort from it, but the mental attacks don’t seem to be working right now. Either that or the mental attacks of this distantly controlled black fog isn’t strong enough to breach my True Damage mental resistance skill.

What it can do, however, is deal direct True Damage to me. Physical True Damage.

Which is obvious from how the Chaotic Source messages speed up significantly.

{You have used up one charge of Chaotic Source! The True Damage has now been redirected! 29/30 charges remaining.}

{You have used up one charge of Chaotic Source! The True Damage has now been redirected! 28/30 charges remaining.}

{You have used up one charge of Chaotic Source! The True Damage has now been redirected! 27/30 charges remaining.}

…

{You have used up one charge of Chaotic Source! The True Damage has now been redirected! 20/30 charges remaining.}

{You have used up one charge of Chaotic Source! The True Damage has now been redirected! 19/30 charges remaining.}

Without hesitation, I coat my body with Eternal Snow while making a layer of ice. And this manages to protect me from the new effects of the black fog as I continue setting up the totems.

All while the Void God slowly gets damaged by its own black fog from said totems.

This can’t continue.

If I have to keep using Eternal Snow to protect myself from the black fog’s physical attacks, I won’t be able to conserve my energy and mana enough to defeat this Unique Monster. And if I can’t do that, then I will die.

I look through all of my Skill Trees in the hopes of finding a skill that can save me in this situation without halting in my traveling skills, continuing my path to setting up all of the totems. But it isn’t until the eighteenth totem that I manage to find a potential solution.

The problem is that I am already reaching below two fifths of my total energy and mana.

I grit my teeth while rereading the skill’s description before rushing to finish setting up the remaining totems as fast as possible.

If this works, I might be able to give myself time to recover.

But if it doesn’t work…

The Void God clearly doesn’t care about my dilemma as it continues trying to crush me with its black fog while chasing after me through the territory of the totems.

I feel more and more panicked the more time passes. Both due to the constant drain on my energy from the True Damage, and because of the fact that the totem’s damage against the Void God doesn’t seem to be affecting its movements much despite clearly doing damage.

Still. I manage to continue pushing through while stretching my energy out until I finally finish setting up all of the totems. At which point the twenty-five totems shine brightly once. Then twice.

Then black fog bursts out of the totems, expanding the density of the black fog in their range by a factor of two.

I don’t hesitate at all, using almost the last of my current energy to activate three skills.

Chrono Lock.

Eternal Snow.

And Skill Combination.

Please work…
