Interestingly enough, I quickly learn that there are several more things that can be done at the Bank of War than what was listed on its description. Because, apparently, the Bank of War is an actual organization across the multiverse. Not just some building created by the System.
Which also leaves me coming to understand that there are several buildings purchasable by the System that are user run and created. The receptionist even explained to me that some users can create and designate their own System Building to be spread across the multiverse if they get a specific Unique Loot Box reward or win in certain Events. That user will then receive a portion of all the War Points spent across the multiverse to purchase the building by City Lords.
That said, every single building that is created by a user must qualify as a Legendary Building, and they are not available for unlocking in the Event Point Shop or the Victory Point Shop.
The other two Legendary Buildings I had the option of selecting were also made by users. In fact, most Legendary Buildings are.
The Tree of Life was actually made by the Unique Lifeform Yggdrasil. One of the Rulers. And the Labyrinth Fortress was made by the Dwarven King of the nation known as the Underground, which is ruled by dwarves.
In fact, most of the people leading nations across the first few galaxies of the multiverse have their own Legendary Buildings.
These users can also directly sell the unlocking privileges of their Legendary Building to people for Victory Points. Making for another way for City Lords to unlock them.
Anyway, the features these buildings list on the description are all the things that the System provides regarding the building. Not the organization behind the building.
The Bank of War, for example, offers things like loans and investments and even stocks that are handled by the organization itself. Unlike the simple depositing your War Points and getting interest that the System provides.
None of the features they offer are interesting to me right now, so I just deposit one hundred thousand War Points into the bank before leaving. Letting the various voidlings and even other species living in my city enter after me.
Not that there are a lot of other species compared to the voidlings.
After checking out the Bank of War, I head over to the colosseum. Just to check out the exact changes to it. But all I find is pretty much what I expected. Its size increased to accommodate more users at once, and that’s pretty much all.
The bleachers of the colosseum are rather empty, considering that no one has any reason to go into them when events aren’t ongoing. And there haven’t been any events since the System arrived.
I look around the city for a little bit longer before heading to the Labyrinth to continue my climb. Only to be interrupted moments before entering the Labyrinth by Rex.
“Great One, we have received news that the zelbar are beginning an assault on the human city of Sakura,” Rex declares, making me furrow my brows for a moment as I try to remember a city by that name. And it doesn’t take long to realize he’s talking about a System City that Akira Fuji owns after it was given to him by a human City Lord. The city itself was apparently named after the trees that are growing across the entire city now. Trees that happen to look just like the cherry blossom trees back on Earth. “They will likely send attacks to other human cities soon as well.”
I can’t help but frown as I ask, “Just human cities?”
“Zelbar are known to target the weak to build up their hives,” Rex answers. “To them, the humans with their immense numbers and lower average strength are a good target to begin their conquest.”
That’s mildly insulting. Or it would be if I was still a human myself.
That aside, it is something I’m going to have to deal with.
“Are preparations ready?” I ask while putting the Labyrinth out of my mind for now. Since this war is currently more important.
“They are, Great One,” Rex declares. “Forces will be sent out to all of the cities being attacked immediately.”
“Good,” I state before beginning to make my way towards the walls. “I’ll be joining the attack.”
“Understood, Great One,” Rex states as he begins to follow me.
I need more experience in large scale battles, and this should make for good experience.
A System City further away from Voidlight
Francisco Revale feels grim as he looks out over his System City’s walls at the approaching army of bugs.
He knew they were coming. All of the nearby human cities knew. But just knowing that they’re coming and being able to deal with them is another matter entirely.
What’s worse is that the zelbar have purchased a Legendary Building that disables the portals of other System Cities they are currently attacking. Making it impossible for anyone in their city to flee.
The people in his city all look grim. Even the people on the walls who are preparing to attack the zelbar look grim.
His people number a few thousand at most. But the zelbar? They number at least twenty thousand.
There’s no way his city can defend against this force.
We’re just fighting to take as many with us as possible…
This thought is the only thing keeping him going.
Until he receives news from some of his neighbors about new reinforcements arriving.
Francisco’s eyes widen in surprise for a moment before he shouts, “Reinforcements will be arriving soon! We just have to hold on until then!”
His people, many of whom are just regular families from before the System that only joined his System City because they had nowhere else to go and appeared near him after the Tutorial, all look surprised. But not many of them show much hope at his words.
They all know their city doesn’t have many allies. And the allies they do have are all being attacked by the zelbar as well.
Francisco doesn’t blame them for doubting his words. He himself barely believes the news.
“The voidlings will save us!” he shouts, startling them again. And this time, they actually begin to believe him. Simply due to the confidence in his words.
Of course, his confidence is partially bluster to increase their motivation. He himself has trouble believing that many voidlings will actually go to help their small city.
It doesn’t benefit the Void Crowne to save some random, no name human System Cities, after all.
He is at least certain that some of them will be coming to help. Because that’s what the word from his allies have told him.
His forces grow more active and ready than before as the zelbar get within several hundred meters of the System City.
Then within five hundred meters.
And once they get within two hundred meters, attacks begin flying through the air from both sides. Slowing down the zelbar’s approach.
But they still continue to approach.
Until they reach a little over one hundred meters out from the System City, and Francisco gets some good news in the form of a report from someone manning the opposite wall.
“City Lord, voidlings have been spotted approaching the city from the South!”
Francisco feels relief at those words before he asks, “How many? Do you think it’s enough?”
The scout, a young woman in her prime, shows a strange face at his words. Which doesn’t fill him with confidence about their reinforcements.
Then she says, “City Lord, sir, there is an entire sea of voidlings approaching. Far too many to count.” She pauses for a moment, only to add, “I think we’re saved.”
I knew i-
His thoughts freeze at her words.
An entire sea of voidlings? Did I hear that wrong?
After a brief hesitation, he flies up into the air with a wind skill that creates wings made out of wind before looking over the System City to their South. And it doesn’t take him long to spot the voidlings.
An entire sea… there are far too many to count. Just how much has the voidling swarm grown?
He feels both terrified at their numbers, and relieved that the voidlings are humans’ allies.
“Our reinforcements have arrived!” Francisco roars before swooping down to the walls to rally his own forces. And the moment the voidlings reach the city walls and begin going around their walls, the zelbar reach the walls as well.
Then the zelbar and the voidlings begin to clash with his city in the middle of them. All while Francisco leads his own forces to attack from the walls.
We might just survive this…
