Somewhere on the Eternal ContinentYear 2853 | Month 6 | Day 26
Jason Fox watches with a smile as his son makes his appearance on the TV amidst the other Class S magicians. And he can’t help but feel proud when he does.
He’s come a long way since then…
Jason and his wife Julia have worried about Nathan ever since his accident, where he turned into a true immortal. And while getting someone like the doctor to look after Nathan made the worry go away for a very brief moment, it didn’t take long for him to realize exactly what was happening.
At which point the worry only grew even worse.
And neither he nor his wife could do anything about it. Jason is still nothing more than a weak Class D magician, and his wife is a non-magician.
Neither of them had any power to speak of back then, so they were both forced to watch from the sidelines as he fell apart. And while it had at first looked like it was going to improve when he went to the academy and got more friends, it only ended up growing worse.
Especially when he was ‘lost on the frontlines’ and sent to the Kingdom of the Fallen.
Jason still remembers the dead look in his eyes when he first saw Nathan again after being reunited, and it haunts him to this day.
But now? As he sees Nathan looking perfectly fine again while standing on such an enormous stage being cheered for by tens o thousands of people?
The worry in his heart finally begins to fade.
He’s built a place for himself and destroyed the ones trying to tear him down.
Jason still remembers the day when Nathan finally killed the doctor and took his seat upon the throne at the top of the Eternal Tower. It was one of the best days in his entire life.
Jason looks at his wife to find her silently crying next to him as she stares at the screen with her hands held up to cover her mouth. Then he looks at the other people in the staff cafeteria of the Eternal Tower. And every last one of them looks proud in their own right.
He and Julia started working officially for the Eternal Tower at some point after Nathan went into seclusion, and they have loved every second of it. They’ve grown close to the other people serving under their son, and now he feels even closer to them after seeing their responses to Nathan’s moment in the spotlight.
“The Undying Magician has been on everyone’s mind ever since he made his first appearance outside of the Eternal Continents!” the host of the Arcane Crown declares, his voice filling the cafeteria from the many TVs in it. “He started out as your regular, every day fire affinity magician. But after an accident where his body was directly affected by time and space mana released by damage to reality from a clash between Class S magicians, he became a true immortal! No matter what happens to his body, he cannot die! He cannot age! And he’s here to prove his power to the entire world!”
The audience roars in applause, meanwhile everyone in the cafeteria cheers along. Including Jason and Julia.
“But since it wouldn’t be fun to watch a single magician beat down every opponent without being able to lose, the committee for this tournament has created some special rules for The Undying Magician alone!” Jules states, making the audience quite down a little bit. “Instead of a medallion teleporting The Undying Magician outside of the arena when it senses he has taken enough damage to die, he has a different medallion. The Undying Magician’s medallion will only send him outside of the arena once he has taken enough damage to kill a Seventh Stage Warrior three times over!”
The audience starts to roar its applause again in response to the fair rules.
Jason raises a brow for a moment before simply smiling.
All because he sees Nathan faintly smiling on the stage.
He looks happy.
With that thought, Jason continues to watch the opening ceremonies with his wife and all of the coworker friends he’s made over the time he’s worked here.
