Hey guys, dropping in to post the final for this piece!

I've been really itching to paint a more atmospheric piece, and I felt like Mass Effect was a great canvas for it. Vastness of space and all that. I know I'm typically a portrait artist, but my passion is in environmental storytelling/illustration. I haven't really felt confident enough to tackle big pieces like this in the past, but I'm slowly gaining some skills and tools in order to feel more comfortable.

It's always been a real struggle to balance the focal point plus NOT going overboard with detailing the rest of the piece when I do larger backgrounds, so this was a huge practice in restraint. I have a closeup here of Shepard and Garrus, I am so happy with how they turned out. :')

Please let me know what you think of this piece- I'm really hoping to be able to convey a bit more emotion through looser painting techniques. It's extremely difficult for me to just let a piece take me somewhere if that makes any sense. A practice in letting go of the reins a bit.

Thank you so much everyone for all of your support this year, I will be seeing you again before the new year, but just wanted to mention it now!!

Oh wow this is gorgeous

Thank you, this was one of those rarer instances where I had a really solid vision in my head for it and I was able to get it where I wanted it haha

Started the trilogy for the first time a few years ago and it was the game that really got to me emotionally. The relationship between FemShep/Garrus was just too good to not leave an impact, so of course I'm excited to see more Mass Effect art 😭 💓. Love your art lots and it's such a huge inspo for my own. ❤️ I really admire the looser detailing in the environment, I think it turned out wonderfully and I wouldn't mind seeing the same looseness in your portraits 👀

Oh my GODS IT'S GORGEOUS Garrus is 😍🧡🥰

I don't know what to say other than THIS IS GORGEOUS and I can't wait to see it in my mailbox! I think you did a great job of being detailed enough that the focal point isn't lost -- it's clear what the subject is -- while also painting a vivid background full of its own detail and richness. I have not played ME, so I'm unfamiliar with the world, but this looks great :) Can't wait to see what you tackle next!

Scarlet Wings

Mass Effect was my sci-fi game first love, and I still come back to play the trilogy every 1 or 2 years. ME2 being the one that made me feel so seen with the way other characters glossed over the intro death, and in ME3 everyone realising just how dead they really were. They weren't just saying it for attention or pretending, and all the characters were so horrified at the realisation. It's an accurate depiction of my own death back in 2011 and how largely people didn't seem to care and you just end up carrying on as best you can on your own until somebody "gets it". They finally understood, and you weren't alone anymore.

D'Artagnan Wayland

That looks so soft and romantic. Wonderful pose with the scene set by the background

My eyes are immediately drawn to the couple but then I find myself gasping and examining every inch of this piece, I love the atmospheric work

This piece is so pretty! I love the warm little glow around Shepard and Garrus, it draw the eye, but also feels symbolic of their feelings.
