So yes – the year of sporty Julia has officially begun.

I finally went to Pilates. And I actually liked it.

It looks all cute and gentle, very soft-core wellness vibes… but in reality – not easy at all. Like, at all. But I love that weird moving bed you slide on, and those straps you’re supposed to pull. I have no idea what any of it is called, and honestly, I don’t fully understand what exactly we’re doing – the instructor doesn’t speak great English – but I’m having a great time anyway.

I bought a monthly pass, so there’s no way back now. And of course, I chose the 8 a.m. classes. Because why not suffer beautifully. What surprised me the most is how quickly my body adapted to the load. On days when I don’t have a class, I actually feel this urge to move intensely. My body starts itching from lying around. Almost like withdrawal symptoms. Cute.

The year of productive Julia has also quietly started.

I’m actively editing shoots from the end of 2025 – easily, calmly, with pleasure. And I keep getting spontaneous ideas and inspiration for new shoots, mostly self-portraits. I don’t know if it’s my mood shifting or the sport kicking in, but I finally feel more satisfied with my body. Which feels… new.

Is it also the year of communicative Julia?

Highly unlikely. For now, I’m sinking deeper into hermit mode and increasingly want to hide from people. My social battery is strong enough only for the supermarket and Pilates. That’s it. But who knows – maybe in a few weeks or months something will change.

I’m still dreaming of the year of meditative Julia.

So far, I can’t quite force myself to meditate every day. But it’s only the beginning of January – maybe this version of me will join a little later. Fashionably late.

What about you?) Have you already shifted into your “new year version”, or are you still in holiday mode? Are you moving, creating, hiding, resting – or all of it at once?

The "moving bed" is called Reformer. There's also another typical machine used in Pilates that is called Cadillac. About my new year projects, I don't have many to be honest, I just realized I want to travel much more than I did last year, to study new languages like Arabic and read more. And of course, I started again my pilates class too, and I'm also doing some other workouts - I really need it after these holidays, when I gained a lot of weight ha ha ha

I’m curious why you will choose Arabic as next language! They say it’s a hard one…

Well, just to give you a bit of context: I speak Italian and English, a bit of Spanish, German and Russian (about A2/B1), and I can understand some Portuguese. I wanted to start learning one of the “emerging” languages - that are spoken by a billion or more people but that we in the Western world barely know. It’s frustrating for me not to understand even roughly what people are talking about, or whether they’re angry or happy when they talk in front of me. And when I visit a new country, I like to know at least some basic phrases to have simple conversations with people. So, since I’d like to visit some Arabic and Eastern countries, my next dream was to learn Arabic or Chinese. But Chinese - that is a tonal language - feels too difficult to learn at my age. Arabic is hard too, of course, but I guess it’s a bit easier than Chinese...
