Well then… congratulations to me, I guess 😄

I got the visa.

The interview is officially behind me, and they told me my visa has been approved. Now there’s just one final step left: waiting for my passport to come back with the actual physical visa inside it - the one I can finally hold in my hands)))

Was I nervous? - Absolutely.

Did I spend weeks imagining all the ways something could go wrong? - Also yes.

Was it all for nothing? - Apparently yes)))

Honestly, I haven’t felt this kind of relief in a very long time.

This whole process has been such a huge part of my life for so long that it still feels a little surreal to finally be standing on the other side of it.

For now, we’re wrapping up a few things in Kyiv, then heading to a slightly safer city - Lviv.

The plan is simple: eat an unreasonable amount of varenyky and borscht, enjoy last days in Ukraine, and then continue our journey to Texas.

It still feels strange to write that....

Texas.

A new chapter is waiting.

But for today, I’m just allowing myself to feel relieved.

And very, very grateful.

Hi Julia, congratulations on getting your visa so unexpectedly soon! I understand that, logically, you expected it to take 10 days or more, and this unusual speed has forced you to change your plans and cancel quite a few things. But, as I mentioned to you before, plans are, in any case, merely a declaration of intent, a contingency, and therefore, since they refer to the near or distant future, they are subject to a thousand circumstances and changes that are beyond our control and almost always unpredictable. This can be annoying, but that's how it is, and we have no other option than to accept and adapt our plans to these unforeseen changes. I think that if we keep this in mind when making plans, changes will bother us less. Obviously, the shorter the term a plan is, the less exposed to contingencies it is... and vice versa. Although, paradoxically, if they are very long-term, they tend to be less contingent. This is, in a way, due to the principle of uncertainty. In any case, as the saying goes: all's well that ends well! I wish you both a happy stay in wonderful Lviv and in Paris, which is very special to you ;). And obviously a peaceful trip to Texas... finally home!!! Hugs and kisses to you both!✈️🌹🇺🇦🙏🫂🥰🍾😘🥰✨️
