Hey everyone,

Just a quick question...

We originally had the bonus feed reserved for BONUS content. This meant the Gurometer episodes, full unedited interviews, early releases of episodes, Decoding Academia, and other stuff like the conversation on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

We did not reproduce the content on the main feed- mainly the Decoding Episodes and edited interviews- because we assumed people would prefer to keep only bonus stuff on the bonus feed.

However, since several people have requested the recent Dr. K Gurometer episode to be posted on the bonus feed, despite it being released as a preview on the main feed, it made me wonder. What would people prefer, so I thought a poll might help!

So, please vote below for what you would like to see on the bonus feed.

My expectation was that once I joined this group I could unsubscribe from the show on Spotify.. don’t really care, but it’d be nice if this was a one stop shop

Christopher McLaughlin

I think the Bonus Feed should have the series Matt promised ages ago on our mutual favorite sci-fi author Iain M Banks beginning with the incredible space opera Consider Phlebas. Matt has been pushing his own brand of fully automated gay space communism for too long, it’s time we see how the master did it.

John Graham

Wait, oh I see, the whole gurometer was put out *as* a preview, whereas previews *of* supplementary materials are put out publicly. Too much clutter subscribing to two feeds - everything in one please..

Kelley

I listen to everything on Apple Podcasts using the RSS feed from here. I prefer that everything is on one feed, just easier to manage

Chris Spanos

A couple of tech podcasts that I subscribe to have a separate feed for subscribers of some kind and the standard feed. If you add the link to the bonus content to your podcast player of choice you can unsubscribe from the regular public feed because they put all of the content on the bonus feed. It reduces the number of shows you see in your podcast player and makes a lot of sense in practice.

jodcr

Sincerely do not care.

Blastosist

No more Dr K. Not even a little bit.

Boaty McBoatface

Since I’ve started supporting a couple of podcasts I’ve found I really like having all of a podcast in one feed.

Charlie

I was under the impression that all DtG content was available in the patreon.

Tom Yasko

Whatever you do, please make it easier to discriminate between content types- including length. Another way to say this? Please make it easier for users to consume your content. (Mahalo!)

Robert Andrews

I'm not quite sure I understand. I'll put my preference in simple terms: I like the podcast link that has the "Galaxy Brain" picture, and the one that has the regular DtG picture. I like that both of them show up and I just choose the Patreon one because it is longer. Whatever you decide, I'm happy to listen!

Ben

I just want one Patreon feed, and if there's stuff there I don't want to listen to, I delete it. Didn't even know I needed more than one feed to listen to everything, so I guess there's stuff I've been missing!

Monica B.

One feed if possible, please! It makes things much easier (in my opinion). Commenting beyond my vote because I actually thought that was how things were, and now I need to go back to the public fed to see if I’ve missed anything! :) Also, I rarely watch the videos as I’m more of an audio person, and I thought they all had a podcast release, too. The dr k gurometer makes me wonder if that is the case.

RareTripleBait

What do you mean “despite it being released as a preview on the main feed”? What do you mean with “despite”? How does a preview in the main feed help patrons who want to listen to the whole Gurometer?

JayDubbyah

I don’t understand what you mean by different feeds and I don’t understand how to access different feeds. Not a direct answer to the question you asked but probably relevant if this is the experience of other listeners too.

I actually never got the Gurometer episode on my bonus feed, so I removed it from my podcast app and added it back. I'm very confused about what the question actually is now! If there's only a preview on the main feed, and nothing on the bonus feed, how do we listen to the whole Gurometer episode?

Claudia

I'm always confused when something drops, no matter on which feed, because I never know if it's a clip of something I've already listened to or an audio/video version of something I've already watched or heard, so I don't care either way. For me that's the special appeal of DtG. (By the way, as I do a lot more listening than watching, I convert video to audio a lot, so I don't care if everything is released additionally as audio, either.)

Chomagerider

Completely confused. What's a bonus feed? 🤣🤯

Sam

I just want to know I don't miss things, and don't get duplicate. So, everything on the "gurus" feed is just simpler for me.

James Pulver

I ideally would like no video only content on a podcast feed. Audio of everything. All in one feed. And with obvious names like "EA title" (early access) and then if relevant a "edited / no ads public release title" so we don't listen to sort of the same thing twice, and we can decide if we want the early non edited version (minimal edited?) or the "final cut" version later, but we're not trying to match completely different names / pics / description.

Sue

I've listened from Day 1, and now I am a Patreon subscriber. This is the only podcast I support financially because it offers such helpful orientation to all the others, plus it's very fun and genuine. I miss the original style episodes which included banter, guests, and postgame analysis all in one long stream. I took my time in happily listening to the entirety. Now I'm figuring out the piecemeal delivery you've adopted. No matter what, I'll stick with you. But you asked.

E. Of NE

Release special requests. And delay release of bonus content as filler for free subscribers when you guys need a break.

Miles Curry

Likewise also very confused by the feeds. I just signed up. The main feed "Decoding the Gurus" should have everything free in it (and sometimes some previews). The Galaxy Brain Edition should just have the stuff that is available for Patreons. Separate it out a bit more. It's quite hard to find things.

AnnieB

I also don't see any difference between the feeds in my Patreon app. It just shows all the posts in chronological order - most recent at the top.

Linda Sears

I like having access to the videos. Even if I’ve heard an episode before, watching Matt and Chris’s expressions when they hear something truly awful is highly amusing.

James P.

Not sure what the bonus feed is... I get the ggurometer episodes, but I don't get the decoding academia episodes. What feed am I getting?

Kokoo koko kokko kokoon

Soo one wouldn't miss anything in the second option if they weren't subscribed to the public feed of the pod right?

Erland Hvittfeldt

Plus one for all content on bonus, audio only. The Dominion review (crossover between my two favorite podcasts!) still isn't out as audio and I don't watch video longer than five minutes 🙂.
