Douglas Murray brought rare confrontational energy to a recent Joe Rogan appearance, raising important points about balance, expertise, conspiracy theories, and platform responsibility. But given his own partisan biases, dismissal of experts, and promotion of dubious figures, he’s a flawed messenger. When he joined Sam Harris to reflect on the conversation, the hypocrisy became even clearer. And as this episode shows, Sam’s own double standards and the broader alternative media ecosystem leave much to be desired.

Heterodox Hypocrisy: Joe Rogan & Dave Smith vs Douglas Murray vs Sam Harris

Douglas Murray brought rare confrontational energy to a recent Joe Rogan appearance, raising important points about balance, expertise, conspiracy theories, and platform responsibility. But given his own partisan biases, dismissal of experts, and promotion of dubious figures, he’s a flawed messenger. When he joined Sam Harris to reflect on the conversation, the hypocrisy became even clearer. hey— off topic— i listened to michael moynihan interviewing Jon Ronson and Ronson mentioned an excellent podcast called Decoding the Gurus.

Andreas Singer

Excellent thumbnail. I would love to play this game. Streetfighter - Gurus Edition

Nadim Bou Alwan

I’m liking this just for the thumbnail. Episode’s pretty good too.

Nancy Hale

Awesome thumbnail, bravo Editor Andy. Love how Murray is holding the Churchill bust like it’s a golf trophy.

Frances goulart

Great job of analysis and impartially burrowing into all the dark little corners of all the guru-speak here...better than watching Major League soccer!

Ad Tastic

That's a helluva sweet thumbnail. You don't wanna know how much money I put in the Mortal Kombat machine back in the 90s

Tim Tripp

I love how uncomfortable Joe gets. Regarding Elon's gesture, who sends their heart out like that?

Mike

I started listening to your show earlier this year and it’s fantastic. I’ve heard Douglas Murray on a couple of previous episodes, but this was the first time that I’ve seen him. His speech and voice have always given me the impression that he’s around 78 years old and has partaken liberally of cigarettes and gin for decades. It was a surprise to see what he actually looks like!

Emily

I am probably gonna die waiting for these people to learn that there’s a difference between liberals and leftists

Is Rogan so popular because he’s a dunderhead who makes other dunderheads feel smart?
