Content

I thought you all might be interested in an update on forthcoming content and that it would be good for us too to remind ourselves of what is on the docket.

So, upcoming we have:

A Return to Gary: This is a full-length decoding of a recent interview with Gary. There will probably be a reduced-length version on the public feed and the full-fat director's cut on Patreon. Chris is editing this currently, but it is 4 hours+ in raw format. It might be out this weekend.

Interview with James Bloodworth: We have a discussion with James about his book on the manosphere and related arenas. Already recorded and just in need of some editing.

Chris & Matt's Economics: This is a Decoding Academia episode focusing on reading UK Housing Reports, featuring a short interview with an economics professor with expertise in housing. Try to contain your excitement.

Matthew McConaughey Gurometer: Alright, alright, alright... a little overdue but it takes a while to get to where you want to be. Don't judge yourself!

'Mini' Decoding on Sabine Hossenfelder: Covering her recent apologetics for Eric Weinstein and some broader discussion of the science contrarian space. (RELEASED!)

Naval Ravikant Decoding: We have posted the material already. This is the next full-length decoding after Gary; we should be recording and releasing this next week.

Required Reading: The Genius Myth by Helen Lewis: Does exactly what it says on the tin.

A Return to Sensemaking: Matt and I want to take a brief Sensemaking holiday so we are going to take a look at "A Dialogue So Dangerous, It Just Might Bring You Wisdom | Jordan B. Peterson with John Vervaeke and Jordan Hall | EP 532".

I am sure there is more I am forgetting about, but these are the immediate things to clear off the docket. We also have some upcoming interviews that are not yet fully scheduled, including with Alexander Beiner of Kainos and Al Murray!

Very excited for the return to sensemaking. Peterson, Vervaeke and Hall combining for a 2 hour long discourse is like De Niro, Pacino and Mann combining for a 3 hour long movie

Vee

Sense making is back on the menu lads 🤘

What if instead of using AI art, which corrodes the soul, you paid someone a couple bucks per post to draw something. Hint - me. I work fast.

iffydonatello

No AI generated I,age of the two of you as Primarchs?

hasty rewrite

Using AI art is pretty lame, god I wish it didn't exist lol

Yoko Swagman

DTG episodes immediately go to the top of the playlist 🥳

Pace yourself Chris😅

Nancy Hale

Looking forward to all of this, especially the Bloodworth one on manosphere. But take your time, y’all.

JeremyTheSmith

Can't wait for all of this, thanks guys.

Nancy Hale

I dig the lamppost in the thumbnail. It’s a steampunk thing?

Andy First

Yes 4 hours of Gary bashing please right into my veins

Roland Weber

I watched another one of those JBP+Vervaeke dialogs long ago... intense, yes, because JBP couldn't listen for a minute before blurting out another random association.

Gary's attack on mainstream economics should be on mainstream economic education. It doesn't take much of a grounding in economics to know Gary's arguments aren't good. (That's a general point too: I've had conversations with professors who have delivered modules on Marxism who didn't know what a supply and demand curve is.)* *that is true.

GanryuKojiro

Can't wait to hear more disagreements with Gary, that guy's simplicity drives me nuts... "Just do this", "How?", "Oh, don't ask me. I'm just a youtuber"...

Amy S

Can’t wait!!

Linda Sears

Does anyone else worry about Chris’s sanity? The picture looks like a cry for help.

Charlie

I had never heard of gary until you covered him. I cannot believe someone so blatantly self aggrandizing and turgid is so popular. He may even be worse than dr. K.

Eric

You already have a lot of material on Gary but I just listened to The Rest Is Politics: Leading with him and found it really interesting even after listening to your previous decoding episode on him. I think some of the aggrandizement (like him constantly saying hes super smart, gone to a great school and so on) is really effective messaging for a lot of people and might not necessarily be a personality trait. But what the hell do I know, haha. Here's a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iD2sPL7k98c&t=2439s&pp=ygUUbGVhZGluZyBwb2RjYXN0IGdhcnk%3D

I hope there are many supplementary materials along the way.

Sue Fricke

Helen’s book is delightful!! She narrates the audiobook and it’s wonderful to listen to her dulcet tones.

“A dialogue so dangerous it just might bring you wisdom”? Well, that depends on your definition of “wisdom”. What’s that all aboot? Eh? (©️ Jordy Jordy Beep Beep)

Allan Hutton

Al Murray the pub landlord Al Murray???

Guy Walter

Which is a disturbingly large pool, but this podcast is notable as maybe the only legitimately good podcast I’ve seen to embrace the aesthetic.

Jacob_3BP

I wish you guys could talk to the The Rest is Politics guys. They sometimes mention one of the Gurus, and I just wish for them to know who they're talking about. Basically because I think Rory Stewart is great (his books are fantastic)... but now they're having an interview with Gary and I just want them to be well briefed...

Rob

Gary claims poverty, but it sounds like his dad had a stable, run-of-the-mill job, a postman, which lots of people have and even aspire to, at least in the countries I'm familiar with (Spain and Australia). Maybe it's like living under a bridge in London.
