To conclude cult season, we are looking at one of the most well-known cult leaders, L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology.

We all know about Xenu and the wacky auditing of the Scientologists, but we are not focusing on the doctrine but rather the guru at the helm. How many people have actually listened to L. Ron Hubbard talk?

We think it will be informative and a nice end to the guru season. Also, we are going to make this something of a double-bill, as after exploring this historical cultish archetype, we will move on to Professor Jiang, a contemporary guru who makes similar outlandish claims but with a different aesthetic.

So join us won't you in suffering through this 1966 fake interview with Hubbard (the guy doing the interview is actually a Scientologist, not a journalist). We will also take some clips from this source if you really want to do your homework: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FttwISsJxgs

Interview with L. Ron Hubbard in Zimbabwe

This interview was filmed in May 1966 in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). Scientology claims this was a candid media interview with a legitimate journalist. In fact, the person asking him the questions is Scientologist Tony Hitchman. The questions and answers were entirely scripted. Cringe-a-rific!

Michael

Oh, hell yes. This is going to be premium, unadulterated freak shit.

BP

Can’t wait. I can only imagine some of the responses and reviews you receive are going to be amazing too, haha

ketracel-white 🧁

I can't wait to see the hate website they make about Chris lmao

COLOR MENTOR

Its the key to self help , preach to people who are already capable, then your success rate is much higher.

Mandy Thompson

This is the one I’ve been waiting for!!

Steve Edge

You 2 will have a field day with this loony. Looking forward to this one.😄😄😄😜

Rich F

The interviewer seems like an. unusual kind of guy. I dont know if anyone else is picking up on this.

Paul Ditta

Ah well, it was a good run, boys. Thank god you didn’t pick a subject with a viciously litigious, wealthy, and morally bankrupt organisation behind them. I’m happy to be a character witness at your inevitable trial for your awful crimes, the evidence for which Operation Snow White 2 has manufactured. Then your final humiliation as you are the villains in “Mission Impossible: Gurus” where Ethan Hunt sets out on a globe trotting adventure to put a stop to the evil machinations of a couple of villainous psychiatrists who peddle lies about innocent geniuses in their spare time.

****Beck has left the chat****

Brave. Make sure that you buy the rights to www. Chriskavanagh.com and www.matthewbrowne.com, and similar variations

Conor McGee

I did get recommended Jiang's Iran thing by the algo and found it interesting in a funny way at first, and then out of nowhere he's somehow using Ukraine as an example of a modern day imperial power looking to expand its borders. Oh god I just noticed he's been on Diary of a CEO!

Justine

YES YES YES!

Dcc

i'm the l ron hubbard of the cupboard

jss

So fuckin creepy man

Paul Ditta

I’m sure LRH’s views on psychology won’t be causing the boys to break out in hives. Also, watch this video and take a shot every time LRH says, “And so forth…”

Richard DV

Chief Operating Thetans … really bizarre stuff, he was quite the grifter

Richard DV

He reminds me of the Alien Guy from the Louis Theroux interview… hilarious and full of shit

Russell

You gonna touch on his Scarlet Woman saga with Jack Parsons at all? 😂

Brink

There is some fascinating stuff in his background, including his early involvement with Jack Parsons, a devotee of infamous occultist Aleister Crowley. A lot of his kooky esoteric beliefs and doctrines seem to originate out of the "sex magic" rituals they engaged in during that period. EDIT: How did I miss Russell's comment just before mine?

Nancy Hale

Thar caption is a nugget of kooky and scary lore about Hubbard and the nation now known as Zimbabwe. Yikes.

DudeNah

Totally fell asleep listening to this. Trippiest dreams ever

Theic

The (fake) journalist interviewing him reminds me of someone equally creepy but I can’t think who and it’s annoying the crap out of me

Christopher Grant

The white whale of gurus! I think we’re gonna need a bigger gurometer.

Michael Ball

You might need to reinforce the gurometer for this one!

Damien

Can the gurometer withstand the onslaught?!?

Linda Sears

There used to be a Church of Scientology location right across from the University of Texas in Austin along the drag near the bookstore, a coffee shop, and a bagel place. I recall they had signs on the windows about taking personality tests. They definitely knew who to target and how to get them in the door.

Linda Sears

It sure seems like a hatred of material existence is a common theme among cultists.

Rich F

I appreciate the decoding is of LRH, but ppl might want to Google "Shelly Miscavige Whereabouts". Wives of prominent scientologists dont always have a great time. Some say this is because the organisation is intrinsically abusive.

Saksaas

Looking forward to the right to respond with Tom Cruise 😅

Frances goulart

“Psychiatry Is about the insane”!!! Oh, I’m glad we cleared that up! If it sounds like a cult, and waffles on like a cult….

Frances goulart

This interviewer is way too polite! I keep waiting for him to say “ What the fuck did you just say?

Frances goulart

So you can be a Catholic or an Anglican AND a Scientologist! Hell yeah, why not compound the error?!

Inspiratio Podcast

so... what happened to this episode?? can't find it anywhere
