Hi everyone,

You remember the Gurometer? Well, with a little help from my silicon friends, I have built a small website to collect audience Gurometer scores. I'm still tweaking things, so if you notice any bugs, let me know; otherwise, please enjoy providing your own ratings.

The Gurometer

Rate perceived secular-guru traits from a Decoding the Gurus episode or source material, then compare your profile with the show rating.

Your ability to get so much shit done while having like 10 other jobs is remarkable and needs to be studied

Quick question: can I use this if I don’t have a PhD?

This is fun. I dont mind sharing ratings. Wondering if this is going to be useful in some way in terms of yr academic work, paper-writing, authorship of whatever? Happy to help if so Just thinking u have to have some kind of use in mind for the info u collect here. Which im happy to share, as I say. I mean it might just be fun to compare audience scores with DTG scores. Lot of thought gone into this tho, right? Sidekicks or no AI sidekicks. I dont really know what im talking about. This is just an idea that popped into my head.

I love you guys, but you gotta take it easy with the AI portraits.

On the plus side - this will be fun, and also "a little help from my silicon friends", I saw what you did there :-) (hat-tip Eric). On the minus side - the 2nd hand from the left in the graphic is an AI hallucination - as it can belong to neither 'Alain' or 'Jimmy'. "Gotta use the AI, not because its actually good or people like it (they don't) , but because it exists!"

I’ve been looking for an excuse to go through the archives starting at the OG Eric and Bret episode and here it is, we’re all Masters of the Gurometer now. First it’s this, by Christmas it’ll be in every Walmart in America, and what kid isn’t going to want a Maximum Impact Gurometer? (Batteries not included)

I love the podcast. I love the gurometer. I love that you added this feature. But - because I’m just like that - I have to share my one complaint about the gurometer. Or not even a complaint but a head-scratcher that’s been bugging me since I first heard of it. Why does absent or minimal rate a 1? Shouldn’t it rate a 0? Because that means a total non-guru - the antithesis of gurudom - still scores 11/55 or a full 20% guru. This is just WRONG!!!

Well done! Works really well. 👏
