Corgis are like potato chips. You can't have just one.

Thank you to all the wonderful photographers who helped make these memories!

All these puppers are rescues or medical fosters...in which I failed (terribly)..and they stayed. I signed up to take the tough ones...deaf (I teach them sign language-and they learn fast!), crippled, sick, heartworm treatment recovery, elderly....and then I fall in love.If you're looking for a specific breed, you can check out breed-specific rescues.

I also have a Maincoon cat from the Maincoon rescue. Soooo many gingers in this household. We exceed the limit.

We survived Hurricane Milton here in Tampa Bay, but it was rough. I think Helene did more damage overall, though. I feel utterly wrung out. Fatigued. There's SO MUCH WORK, time, money and physical effort involved in prepping for these storms...from getting sandbags and setting them up, shoveling trenches for water, securing everything outside, prepping food, charging everything, scrambling for enough meds, batteries, etc just in case, cleaning and doing laundry in case you can't for a while, taking everything to a dump because trash stops running, so you have to figure it out for yourself, draining pools, shop vacuuming water, blocking leaks, cleaning after...repairing...it's a lot. I feel wrung out, my neck is re-injured from lifting heavy boards to board up and I'm just hurting and tired. Yard is under water and a mess, trees are down everywhere including on my fence...but I'm lucky. Most of us stayed behind...everyone dealt with some clean up and water, but we're all ok. I am SO tired of the media and governments saying we're all gonna die all the time. Covid, if we don't take a vaccine, these hurricanes. The hysteria and fear-mongering really needs to stop. They've lost all credibility.

Part of why it was so bad in Tampa Bay for Hurricane Milton is that FEMA took over for removing debris from Helene...and they didn't. There were massive piles of tree parts in so many driveways that became shrapnel in 100 mph winds. It also blocked up all the drainage systems and sewers so everything flooded much worse than normal and in areas that don't flood. #Florida is used to these storms, we have a good system here and are usually back on track within about 3 days. But they fkd up. Private debris removal companies were told to take everything back and dump it in our driveways after Biden signed the FEMA order.

And there's more damage and flooding than usual. Most people I know stayed and didn't evacuate. We saw everything firsthand. I honestly think Helene was worse than Milton for us...but having everything backed up did more damage to more homes. The winds were insane, though.

On the plus, FL has finally cooled down, which is a relief since many are without power. Small things...but it matters. Communities are coming together to help, too. My neighbors and friends rebuilt my fence in a day after two trees fell on it. It may not be as pretty, but it's SOLID. I'm very impressed and grateful. Now these doggies can run around again. Well, as soon as the yard isn't a pond anymore. ;)Off to remove more trees. Plenty of them fell. I have my work cut out for me.
