Lucifer 3x20 ~ ''The Angel oF San Bernardino'' ~ Extended Reaction.mp4

Watching this with you reminded me of a talk with some guys who love Lucifer too. The discussion was about how good an actor Tom Ellis was in how he portrays all that he feels so well in his face and sometimes just with his eyes. The conversation turned to comparing him to Tom Welling (Marcus/Cain) and how they thought his acting was wooden compared to Tom. However, I had seen Tom Welling talk about his role in a Q/A and how he felt it was important not to give away how he feels and thus what his agenda might be and keep the audience guessing about Cain's motives and if and how he might be linked to Lucifer's story. Poker face- I suppose and keeping his real emotions tightly under control and unseen yet to us as the viewer. A total contrast to Lucifer who can make us smile or feel his pain in a single look. Knowing what I now know- no spoilers, I can see what he meant...we all were guessing and feeling uneasy about Chloe/Cain/Lucifer.

I loved your reaction and your analysis. I agree about Cain... maybe he couldn't bring himself to really hurt Chloe in the long term...but, remember this is 'Lucifer' and nothing is easy and now his mark has gone where do we go from here? Nothing in 'Lucifer' is over until it is over and as you said at the beginning of this episode 6 episodes to go (okay 5 now) so let's prepare ourselves for lots more drama, hopefully some laughter and we all know as Lucifans -some earth shattering emotions as we move on towards the end of season 3... It is 'Lucifer' after all so we are surely going to be surprised and amazed and stunned...on to episodes 21-24! Enjoy the ride!

You shouldn't need any interviews to understand Tom Welling's acting compared to Tom Ellis'. These are obviously two VERY different roles. It's not his acting that is "wooden", it's the character hardened by his experience of being forced to live on Earth for millenia. Not to mention Cain was obviously a sociopath from the very start to begin with.
