Jeremy is 16, he is still considered a minor, while Elena 18 is considered an adult with Alaric and Damon as well being the guardians of a minor who they are supposed to be protect, choice is not something Minors get to make all the time. A parents duty as it were, to provide and protect their children, while even Jeremy pretty much said, he wanted to leave town, why did school and work matter, if this was his life. So I agree with what Elena and the three of them did, despite Bonnie's objections about choice.
