Good Omens 3 The Finale

Comments

Thank you Heidi for getting Jessie to react to it and finish the story. I might need a bit time to actually rewatch this movie as I am a bit torn over it still. It is a decent conclusion to the story Amazon chose to do (though opinions are mixed) . Not sure if this is a good conclusion to my personal relationship with Good Omens as a book I fell in love with over 20 years ago. But not all of it has to do with the show/movie itself. Just some baggage. Hope you had good experience (without baggage)

You are most welcome, Sikozu. I hope you enjoy reading my comments on this finale as well.:) Sincerely, Heidi

Good Omens Season Three: The Finale- Thank you so very much for watching and reacting to all of Good Omens for me, Jessie!!! And especially for reacting to this fun finale for this entire show!!! I really do enjoy this season three finale for the most part for sure!! It has flaws, which I will talk about shortly... However, I really do enjoy it as a whole! :) First and foremost... Both David Tennant as Crowley and Michael Sheen as Aziraphale are absolutely phenomenal in this finale!! Just like they are throughout the show in its entirety too!!! I love these two actors very much in all that I've seen them in!! Although, my favorite characters for the both of them are absolutely Crowley and Aziraphale! They are just so much fun throughout this show, and they have incredible chemistry!! Both actors and their characters!!!! I love them so much, so of course I am so sad that Good Omens is now finished. Even more sad, that this final season wasn't able to be given a full six episodes season like seasons one and two, such as this final season wholeheartedly deserved. With this being said... I think for me, this finale's biggest flaw, is that the creators and writers for this season were forced to condense this final season into one single hour and half length finale movie, instead of it getting a full six episodes to really flesh out this season's overall story arcs for our beloved characters. Believe me when I say... It is of no fault to the other creators and writers, and especially not its actors, that this season had a deeper flaw than the other two seasons. The fault falls completely on one of this show's original creators... Neil Gaiman, on account of him being a fool and being a scumbag. Like is the downfall for so many people within the world of entertainment. You know the stories, so I won't go into any details. It's just so sad that because of him and his errors in judgement, to put it nicely, Good Omens' season three's finale was forced to be cut down to a movie length finale. Personally... There were a few things that I was really hoping to see within this finale that we didn't really get. And again... This is no fault of the show's creators and writers for not giving me what I wanted as far as a few minor plot points in the show. They had their own visions for what they wanted themselves. So, I am not upset. However, if there is one thing I would have liked to have seen, it's that I would have loved to have seen a storyline where Aziraphale came to see just how much he truly loved Crowley, upon Crowley falling into danger of being killed, or rather completely destroyed for good. We somewhat get a tiny moment, when Aziraphale comes to save Crowley from the gangsters, but I was hoping Crowley could have fallen into real danger, on account of Aziraphale recognizing in the first two seasons how much Crowley has always been there for him in all the millennia in which they've known one another. Aziraphale even makes a point of telling Maggie and Nina in season two's finale, that Crowley loves swooping in to save him, and he smiles so big at the recollection. So, I would have loved to really see Aziraphale make a much bigger gesture of saving Crowley in return. Nonetheless... I really loved Crowley's and Aziraphale's overall story for what it is. I especially love seeing and hearing Aziraphale tell God that Crowley is the best of all the angels, because Crowley was brave enough to question all of God's motives and actions. He really is the only one being who has been brave enough to question God for Her choices upon creating Earth and all of humanity. And because of this, Crowley was punished in the worst way possible, as he was forced to fall and become a demon. And yet after everything... In spite of his own desires to simply be with Aziraphale for all eternity, all Crowley truly thinks about and wants in the end, is for all of humanity to truly be free. Which is truly beautiful. Crowley truly is selfless, because he wants all of humanity to live without the influences of God, Satan, the angels, and the demons. For free will to truly be free will. And this is truly beautiful, in a fictional show in which God, Satan, angels, and demons are all flawed. I absolutely believe in God and I can't imagine a world or existence without a God because I do believe He is all that is good in our lives. The bad too, but only because we can't have or appreciate all the good without all the bad, and all the good we have is because of God. We ourselves cause the bad, but only because the bad is necessary. With this all being said... I can certainly appreciate and enjoy a good story in which God too is flawed and manipulative, just like Satan, as well as the angels and demons too. I just absolutely love that in this finale, Crowley and Aziraphale are able to finally be together!! Although, not in the way I expected either. I really do love for the most part that upon Crowley and Aziraphale choosing all of humanity over themselves and their own desires, that they as they were, were erased by God from all existence, just as God erases everything in all of existence, in order to create a completely new universe and world, in which Crowley and Aziraphale are born humans and then come together very differently, and in a much shorter life than their previous eternal existence as Demon and Angel. Personally, I would have loved for Crowley and Aziraphale to wind up together in the very end, just as they are, as Demon and Angel. With all memories of who they were before they were erased, and after having lived as dear friends for all the many millennia in which they lived. Because I truly love their characters just as they are so much!! However, I also do understand why this couldn't be so, in the story that has been written for this season three finale. So, I am just happy to see them together and married in the end. And they are both so happy together!! This is truly beautiful! Also... I absolutely love that Crowley protects the bookshop after everything else on their street has faded away and all the other shop owners have left, including Maggie and Nina, upon the street's downfall and decay. Because I love how it is the only place left for him and that has meant anything to him after Aziraphale abandoned him for Heaven. Seeing Crowley so heartbroken throughout the first half of this finale absolutely breaks my heart!! But knowing that he protected Aziraphale's bookshop after everything, even upon him losing his beloved Bently to a gangster threatening to burn the bookshop down if he refused to give over his car to him, shows us just how much he truly loves Aziraphale, and how broken he really is upon believing he will never see him again. So, so beautiful, but oh so sad too. While there's been a part of me that has always just wanted to see Crowley and Aziraphale just very dear friends for all of eternity, like I believed was originally as they were written to be until season two, when their relationship moved from them being just dear friends to them being in love... I do love their relationship such as it is. Mostly just because their chemistry together is truly something special thanks to both David Tennant and Michael Sheen! Absolutely incredible!!! They make this show as wonderful as it is. :) For the most part... I really enjoy Jesus' storyline throughout this finale, as he goes around the street seeking to heal the hearts and minds of the people left behind, and who are all feeling broken in some way. And I love how Jesus seeks out Crowley for help and advice, simply because Crowley had once been very kind to him long ago even after he fell and became a demon. I love that Jesus only sees the good in Crowley, as well as the heartbreak, and then leave upon hearing Crowley's advice to "find the lady." Bilal Hasna, who plays Jesus, really is so sweet. I've never seen this actor in anything before, but I really love him here in Good Omens. I love how he seeks out people to help, including Harry the Fish, played by actor, Mark Addy, whom I have loved in many movies over the years. Movies such A Knight's Tale, Jack Frost, and The Flintstones: Viva Rock Vegas. I love seeing them come together to help one another and to seek out others who need their help too! However, I do wish that more had been done with Jesus' character. I love that Aziraphale fights to make sure the Second Coming is a way to help bring eternal happiness to the world, rather than the angels and demons once again seeking another Armageddon to bring about the destruction of the world. It's just that not much more is done and thsi storyline for Jesus is a bit overshadowed by everything else happening. It's not really too bad, but I just wanted a bit more for the Second Coming and resurrection of Jesus.. Next... I also felt that the conclusion of Michael's story, especially after all her efforts to steal the Book of Life and to destroy all of life as was written by burning the book and its pages in the Eternal Flames at the center of the Universe, was pretty weak. As were her motivations for wanting to destroy all of existence. I understand her feeling unappreciated for all of her hard work and passed over time and time again, but wanting to destroy all in existence is so wrong and evil. Honestly, I am not sure what more I wanted from her story, except maybe to see her get punished for becoming so power hungry and mad enough to want to destroy the world and everyone in it. And one last flaw... I wish we could have gotten to see more of some of the other seasons' past character, if only just for a brief moment for most. I would have loved to somehow see Gabriel and Beelzebub again, along with maybe Anathema Device and Newton Pulsifer, Witchfinder Sergeant Shadwell and Madame Tracy, Adam Young, Nina and Maggie, and even maybe even demons, Shax, Hastur, and FurFur. I just really loved their characters. I am not sure how I would have wanted to see them, or how they could have been written into this finale in a good way, but it would have at least been nice to see how they were doing and how their lives turned out in the end too. Nonetheless... I do love seeing the returning characters we do have back, including the angels, Muriel, whom I absolutely love and adore for her beautiful heart and naivety, Michael, Uriel, Sandalphon, Saraquael, and the Metatron, as well as the demon, Dagon. Oh... And I absolutely love the very beginning scene between Crowley and Aziraphale at the center of the Universe, just after the War in Heaven is ended. I love seeing Crowley be helped by Aziraphale upon him being injured in the battle, even though they are enemies just after the war. Both show kindness and respect towards one another, even though it's clear they barely know one another. You can see that they both could feel a deep connection between one another straight from the very beginning, and it's wonderful and beautiful!! And lastly... Good Omens is a wonderful and delightful show!! I am so happy it was a book chosen to have a series made from it!! Such fabulous and beautiful characters, and quite the powerful story of love and selflessness that comes from a demon and an angel! I absolutely love this series as a whole!!! In spite of its flaws. And this shortened series finale is fantastic for what it is too!! :) So, thank you very much once more for watching and reacting to this show for me, my dear friend! I am so happy that you really loved watching it too!! You're wonderful, Jessie!!! :) Sincerely, Heidi
