Auntie Mame- Thank you very much for your fabulous reaction to Auntie Mame, Jessie! I love this classic!! And I absolutely love, love, love Rosalind Russell as Auntie Mame!! She is so charismatically eccentric! So witty and hilarious! What a character in the best sense! :) Rosalind most certainly created this role and made Auntie Mame her own!! She's a star!! Upon looking over her filmography, I'm sad tot say that I've only ever seen Rosalind Russell in one other role aside from here in this movie, and that role was Mother Superior in another fun classic... The Trouble with Angels from 1966. And she's fantastic in that movie too! I am ashamed that I haven't seen Rosalind Russell in anything more, because she is a phenomenal actress from the classic Hollywood era! However, as Auntie Mame, Rosalind Russell is a gem! Just absolutely charming, hilarious, and sensational!! I absolutely love her!! :) Both Jan Handzlik (younger) and Roger Smith (older) as Patrick, as well as Forrest Tucker as Beauregard Jackson Pickett Burnside, Coral Browne as Vera Charles, Peggy Cass as Agnes Gooch, Patrie Knowles as Lindsay Woolsey, Yuki Shimoda as Ito, Connie Gilchrist as Norah Muldoon, and Pippa Scott as Pegeen Ryan are all fantastic throughout this movie too!! I love each of these characters very much! If there is one character and his actor whom I do not like at all in this movie, it is Brian O'Bannion played by Robin Hughes. I don't think thsi actor does a very good job, and his character just makes me feel icky. And while the actors who play Gloria and her parents within this movie do a fine job, I can't stand their characters either. And we're not really meant too, given who they are and their bigotry. I just love the story of this poor orphaned boy coming to live with his very eccentric aunt, who immediately comes to love him straightaway!!! Mame's relationship with her nephew, Patrick, is adorable and so sweet. Absolutely beautiful. And I love all of Mame's friends and husband throughout this movie as well!! Beau is a good, kind loving, and generous man, and both he and Mame fit together perfectly. It's so tragic that Beau dies so soon, and in such a bizarre kind of way, but boy... did he ever love her. And Vera Charles is fabulous too! Her friendship with Mae is a lot of fun! :) All in all... Such a fun movie and story!! I love it!! So, thank you once again for watching this movie for me, my dear friend!! You're wonderful!! :) Sincerely, Heidi
