One of the episodes we’ve been waiting for👀😂 You guys gonna react to the movie teaser trailer after ep 12?

JSB

Also watch ep 8-9 back to back. Crunchyroll’s thumbnail for it is a spoiler.

H-Bomb 24

Noooo! Kenny, why'd you have to be a good husband and warn Montana about this?

Æther Paradox

So for these two episodes (this one and the next) specifically I would put some SA warnings on at LEAST the YouTube. It’s pretty triggering to me and I’ve gone through years of therapy. Especially because Denji is a minor.

Jinchuriki87

Haven't seen this show yet...so wtf?! 🤢🤢🤢 That being said...if THAT is how they ruin a kiss, good grief how the hell could they ruin, going all the way?!?!

David Bodor

My favorite bit from the intro is the scene with Aki standing atop a rock to see past a fence with a beautiful sky and see a ruined gloomy city, but then Makima is standing even higher on a stack of books seeing past the gloomy city that turns out to be just another fence, and then seeing an even darker picture. It just has so much meaning behind it, but also it comes from a dumb meme version of a popular picture.

Juan Solo

I genuinely had a good laugh when Kenny said that "thing" during the discussion (being as vague as possible to avoid spoilers). It's on par with a theory Montana made about Demon Slayer. If you know, you know 😏

I'll admit, there's a part of me that wanted to see Montana's reaction. On the other hand, if you have a significant other who you know can't handle certain situations, I think you have an obligation to warn them.

I second this. Whoever's in charge of the thumbnails screwed up there.

I wish Kenny hadn't watched ahead. We could've gotten a blind reaction out of the both of them.

VVenture

The reason I like this show is because the things that feel ‘fan servicey’ or ‘weird’ almost always do have a purpose. The story is very much aware of how messed up some of the character relationships/dynamics are and actually calls attention to it and makes it a key part of the narrative unlike a lot of anime that just skims over it.

Nsiegbe Rikenda

I mean what's the point of showing the reaction, if she's not gonna see it?

Bruh
>>138706206

I mean, she still saw like 95% of the entire episode

charley

if you haven’t you should watch into the spider verse! both moves are so good

ISAAC HERNANDEZ

You can start to notice how no one actually cares what happens to Denji and only think about how to use him for their own ends. Poor guy is so attention and affection starved he will take anything he can get.

Kimberly Gonzalez

omg they said the worst kiss would be to get their toungue bitten off…Reze

msbreadloaf

im so excited for next episode's reaction! <3

Himeno is a very interesting character. Her jealously of Makima sure does make her do some crazy shit though. She’s got a thing for Aki, is jealous of Makima due to his obvious crush on her, and has a philosophy of living to the fullest because of how likely she is to die young. And like a lot of characters in the show, she is lonely and sad, and riddled with complex PTSD, this helps contextualize her risk-seeking behavior and implied hyper-sexuality. Unfortunately, also like a lot of characters in this show, she’s not a great person. So when she sees that Denji is easily sexually manipulated, despite even his love for Makima, she makes the drunken and impulsive decision to “steal” him from her. From a psychological perspective I think her extremely reprehensible actions make a lot of sense given her experiences and emotional context. Basically I think it’s good writing. And how Denji reacts to this situation, as well as the fact that he’s placed in it at all, yet again being exploited by the trusted adults in his life, are very important to the show’s themes. Please watch with subtitles though, 🙏the English dub has such weird mixing. I could barely hear any of the important stuff Eternity was saying and it seemed like y’all might’ve missed some of it too.

This episode had one of the parts I was very much looking forward to see Montana react to. While It's a shame that she literally doesn't have the stomach to see it it's also perfectly understandable to shield her from it because real life vomit is gross.

Jake

When it came to the fight with the infinity devil, denji wasn’t using the devil blood to run the chainsaws, devils regenerate when they consume flesh/blood so denji was actually regenerating his injuries and blood

Christian Roderiques

So the idea the show is going for is Denji doesn't really truly understand what makes these romantic firsts worthwhile because he simply can't, and the women around him are using these firsts as transactions sucking all the joy and good out of them leaving them hollow for him and he is so desperate for them he can't help himself. It's really deeply sad what is happening to this poor kid honestly. He is essentially a tool to these people.

The comparisons to Mineta I keep seeing here (even if it's to explain how it is not alike), feel like comparing the slapstick "irritated girl hits boy on the head after he annoys her" anime trope to a plotline about a male victim of domestic violence. Yes, there's broadstrokes of similarity, but one's a lame attempt at comedy and the other is a serious part of the storytelling.

Well, I mean, Denji is below the age of consent and too sick to really get what's going on and also lawfully subservient to Himeno. It can't get too much worse already.

Jinchuriki87
>>138699229

You're definitely not wrong, but learning he's still a damn teenage boy certainly adds important context to why his main drive is what it is 🤣 (especially considering his life up to this point)

Bryan

NOOOO why would you tell her😭😭 honestly W husband tho because when I read that scene I almost barfed. So watching it must be 10x worse

Bryan

I think Denji gets energy from eating others which then fuels his regenerative abilities that’s why his chainsaws are able to work because his own blood is regenerating I think

Lorian
>>138699229

@artbarge No he's not. You guys must learn that legal age of consent is not the same for every country. In Japan legal age of consent is 16 which Denji is in this scene.

Jinchuriki87
>>138699229

I'm well aware it's different there, doesn't make it any less weird to me personally. Considering she's at minimum 20, it would be equivalent to an adult dating a damn sophomore in high school...idk about you, but that comes off a tad iffy to me. 🤷🏻‍♂️ (But again I can totally see why denji is all about it 🤣)

Jinchuriki87
>>138720219

Pretty sure they have already. I recall Kenny mentioning the animation style/quality during one of their discussions not too long ago.

Mekar

"It's like he's trying to fight a wave" Yeah but like...Denji would.

Amon S.

kenny’s comment about the only thing worse being your tongue getting bitten off… it’s definitely interesting lol

Yeah, my wife has a pretty serious trigger around this subject so I can certainly appreciate him looking out for her if he knows it's something that would be particularly triggering.
