H-Bomb 24

YES! I was hoping for an early release for the pilot! You're the best, Kenny. 👍

NasOKM

PEAAKKKKKKK LETS GOOOOOO !!!!!!!

Citified Grain

Y’all about to be depressed watching this show

Big K

Haven’t seen it but all my friends were saying that this one’s a heartbreaker

H-Bomb 24

This will be the first time watching the show since playing the game. Should be a different experience.

H-Bomb 24

Fun fact: all the music in this show is pulled straight from the game! Hope it won't make a copyright problem for you guys. 🙏

L.C.

Nicccceeee. Now we just need Frieren as the next replacement and we are all set.

H-Bomb 24

Coming right off of Solo Leveling, I'm surprised you didn't pick up Aleks Le's voice as the bully. 😅

Chandman

They Mention BD's BD's are brain dances. It's vr with an extra level of immersion. It's like VR but you experience everything the person who recorded it did. All the pain, all the emotions, everything.

blue_haruki

Cant wait to see you guys cry at the end and maybe after this you guys can watch rick and morty or steven universe or jojos bizarre adventure

Day

Yall fun fact: Aleks Lee is voicing Katsuo (the bully I think) here 😂😂

Day
>>150377661

Also Kaiji Tang (Gojo/Dazai) voices some extras in this series too

H-Bomb 24

Man, the K & M artwork for this one might be my favorite. Compliments to your artist.

Thomas Bailey

If I'm remembering the lore correctly, school, especially the academy David is attending, "teaching" is more about relaxing your mind learning how learn through chips you'll slot in aka "learning to learn" like David said.

H-Bomb 24
>>150378246

The whole "to learn- to learn" thing was just how the messaging system works in this universe works. They take and answer messages with their minds, so it's gonna be a bit buggy.

Kalla

Damn. I guess I put my question too late.

Juan Solo

Just so you know, Edgerunners takes place about a year before the game. If we're being technical, the game's prologue takes place in late 2076, whereas the show is in early 2076.

Lilac_Flower

Thank you for taking my question! I binged the show after you said you're going to react to it and I was shocked by the trauma team just basically leaving David and his mom to die

Juan Solo
>>150375209

One of the reasons why I love Edgerunners. Plus, most of the locations in the show are places you can go to in the game.

Graham

Who’s ready for some pain!?

Juan Solo

It was touched on a bit, but CP2077 has greatly improved since launch. Besides the bug fixes, gameplay has been expanded on (the combat system and skill trees were reworked). Not to mention its expansion Phantom Liberty is an amazing experience. Highly recommend giving the game another shot at some point!

Michael Stevens

Did they ever react to game of thrones???

Michael Stevens

They have mentioned cyberpsychosis. It’s basically when you have too much chrome installed, you go psycho.

James S

OH MY GOD THEY’RE REACTING TO THIS. MY HEART 😭

Corey _

perfect amazing keep it coming

Victor

When they speak on the phone they're basically talking with their minds so when words repeat it's cus your brain basically is a step ahead of you so you'll know you're about to say "learn" before you say learn so it kinda comes out twice.

blitzø

I can confirm Cyberpunk 2077 has become a masterpiece! Phantom Liberty is one of the best things I've ever played.

owen

high time i chromed the hell up

JoeCrazy

Funny thing about if you do become a suit in the world of Cyberpunk. Even if David were to have gone that route, he wouldn't be any safer than on the streets. Let's just say that one wrong step, and you'll find your brain leaking out of your ears. No Trauma Team package is gonna fix that. Point is, it isn't a rare sight to see different departments in the same Corp getting into a fight and ending in corpses everywhere.

JoeCrazy
>>150390815

I wouldn't say masterpiece, but I had fun at least. Definitely made me want to check out the original TTRPG.

Lord Boke

Love this show it’s manages to do so much in just 10 episodes one of my favorite stories.

no u uwu

If you have time, I would highly, HIGHLY recommend playing cyberpunk 2077 it’s incredible now, it’s finally a masterpiece, if it’s on sale bro, GET ITTTT. Also just an fyi, sex and nudity in this universe is such a normalised thing it literally bothers no one, you can change all your “parts” just like that, in general the world of cyberpunk is pretty dystopian & dark just so yk. Welcome to nightcity City of dreams.

H-Bomb 24
>>150381599

Forreal. This is my first rewatch of the show since playing the game.

LuxLoser

Man, the show really should have made it clearer after the opening that "BDs" (brain-dances) are the literal memories and sensations of a person, letting you live the experience. But someone else had to do it to get the sensational data. An xBD (Extreme brain-dance) is one that allows you to relive someone else's death, crimes, sex, drug overdose, or some other illegal or mature event. The soldier went psycho and killed those cops. Then Gloria took the Sandevistan off his corpse, and someone else hacked his brain implants and stole the memories. Those memories were sold to Doc, who cleaned up, trimmed, fine-tuned, and edited the footage and data, and he sold the final product to David.

cyrus gudino

People talk about how great the story and characters are. But one thing that doesn’t get enough praise is the music in this show. The music is actually beautiful and it perfectly sets the mood and the vibe of how shitty Night City is. My favorite songs is “Let You down” which is what plays for all of the credits. And another that you’ll hear later on called “Little Stranger”

H-Bomb 24
>>150396041

This is exactly how things work in the game. There's so much jargon in the series that it'd bring things to a halt explaining them. Better to let the viewer/player pick it up themselves.

H-Bomb 24

It's pronounced "san-deh-vih-stan", BTW, and it doesn't slow time; just makes you incredibly fast.

jan

This is my favorite happy story ❤️

Ferret

It's so wild seeing people with no clue about any of the jargon try and pick it up in real time.

Justin Rankin

I swear he looks like Josh Hutcherson

awildjord

i cant remember if u guys ever said why u stopped using vimeo but man patreon videos suck ass ;-; it takes me about 10 page refreshes before the video actually works every time (':

mal

yea the news about his mom dying hit me when i seen this cuz it was so casual like her life meant nothing. just heartless n inhumane.

xx1312xJAYx1312xx

This show is one my favorite sad bangers and also helps me reinforce socialist views in the group. Like this is where we are heading if we continue capitalist Healthcare views let alone capitalist ideas as a whole.

Jared Roman

Welp... time to cry again

Jared Roman
>>150406384

Be strong friend, we most see 2 more souls to the end of this beautiful anime

Valerie.Z
>>150378246

Yeah, more comparable to a stutter; thinking faster than the phone's connection

Ram.

I didn't read thru every comment so sorry if someone mentioned this already, but a tiny bit of background that will explain at least one thing is, the USA had a war that ended up fracturing it, we basically lost. The only real relevant point to this is that due to this loss, a new standardized currency was created for the victors who now owned large parts of America and already owned Europe. The currency is the Euro Dollar. There are no more USD, American dollar bills, or really any bills, it's all digital currency. They're called Euro Dollars, or EuroD or Eddies, for short. If you hear anyone talking about Eddies or 'zipping' (digitally transferring) Eddies, they're talking about money. I mentioned owning nations BTW, because in this world, corporations, or corpos, are more powerful than world governments, and basically control them and the world.

Bryan
>>150404134

Personally this works way better than Vimeo for me too

Erin Ryan

You know a character is going to die when they care and love the MC

Erin Ryan

The VA does better as David than Tanjiro imo

Fries

Cyberpunk (and other punk genres) are generally about dystopian societies, a lot of the older ones are more explicitly about fascism and dictatorship, cyberpunk seems to lean more towards late stage capitalism David and his mom were getting financially bullied every step of the way, they have to pay to use the washing machine, they had to buy an expensive software update for seemingly no reason and pay for the repairs, trauma team left them to die because they weren't a member and the backalley hospital don't even allow free visitation, she was dispensed in a can like a vending machine. I think they did a great job at showcasing how cruel a late-stage capitalist world would look like for the average person and its a shame that aspect isn't talked about more

Erin Ryan
>>150457036

No spoiler! Mom is confirmed dead in this episode. Also its a common trope

BLUEMONKEY18

The best part of this being an apt look at where we’re heading is this setting originally came from a table top rpg made in the 80’s It was prescient then and only more so now! Yay late stage capitalism

Jinchuriki87

Ummm...am I the only one left more confused than anything else after watching this??? I guess you need to have played the game to understand a lot of wtf is going on here (or a lot of Googling, which is off putting you have to do research to better understand a show lmao)

BLUEMONKEY18

On cyberpsychosis, it is psychosis but impacted by and developed by the cybernetics. There are some great explanations and explorations in the ttrpg and hidden in the video game. Essentially the people who get cybernetics are typically in high stress, high trauma environments that help cause psychosis. Add on top of that, the cybernetics. With more extreme cybernetics you are replacing whole parts of your body. A cybernetic arm or even fusing the tech to your spin. As people get more and more chromed up, a symptom of every stage cyberpsychosis is that you start viewing flesh and blood as just meat. A broken arm could be replaced with better tech instead of healed. Your cyber arm is just a tool. The more extensive you go with it the less grounding connections the person has to their own body. Yes they still feel the cyber arm as it’s connected to the nervous system, but it’s not them. It’s not their arm, it’s the current arm they’re using. Couple this dehumanizing society with further dehumanizing cybernetics and add a dash of severe trauma and you get a cyberpsycho.

Ryan Tinkham

This show is depressing af. The game is as well.

Gdawg88

Let’s Gooo!! Haha so glad you guys are watching this. Love the show. And thanks for answering my question🙏🏿🙏🏿you guys are awesome

Gdawg88
>>150467458

Nah it’s not like that. The show just throws you into the deep end but everything does get explained. I didn’t play the game but was chill with it🙏🏿

No Consequence
>>150467458

Or you just pick things up as the show goes along. Everything was largely self explanatory, the only thing that would really trip someone up is the slang

No Consequence

Aw yeah, we're in for a heckin' wholesome time

Rob Carlstrom

I want to watch kenny play cyberpunk please.

Magnis
>>150457597

i swear this va kills it with every role EXCEPT tanjiro idk what happened

Graham
>>150467458

What were you having trouble with, out of curiosity? It mostly seemed pretty self-evident to me. A lot of the slang is weird but it’s all placed in enough context to figure it out.

Jinchuriki87
>>150467458

Between the slang and trying to absorb everything else going on, maybe I just missed some things. But some of the dialogue was throwing me too besides just the slang. (Like the bully going all whacky karate kid nonsense lmao)

ThatAnus

We edging and running with this one

Oron Bar

Fun fact, the Trauma team didn't call the normal emergency service the city meat wagons for no reason. They often harvest organs from patience that are still alive to make an extra buck which is what implied to have happened to davids mom. Her condition was stable and then she suddenly died? Her organs were probably harvested and sold in the black market

dannydarko27

Spanish is my native language so when I first saw this and heard Davids mom call him "Mijo" during her talk in the car, I legit shed a tear. Not only did I finally feel representation like I haven't felt since the early days of Bleach, but I instantly felt connected to his story. I too was a troubled teen who understood how broken our system was. I love this anime with a passion

dannydarko27
>>150467458

The bully had a martial arts chip and enhanced arms, and knew David did not, so he went full Ima show off my upgrades. Also if you play TTRPG's the Cyberpunk starter kit has a list of slang words to help lol

dannydarko27

Since Kenny mentions D&D in other reactions I was hoping he'd mention that Cyberpunk was originally a TTRPG before it was ever a video game

KrimzonHawka

Hope you get around to Castlevania and Blue Eye Samurai for other Netflix Western animations 😉

Millie Long
>>150545056

I don't speak Spanish and have no personal connection to its culture. But there is something about hearing a parent primarily speaking English but still referring to their son/daughter as Mijo/Mija that pulls at my heart in a way that I just absolutely love to hear. It feels so warming and comforting to me in a way that I don't really feel like English has an equivalent for.

Archduke Earl Von Margrave

a little tidbit on the phone calls using ones brain implant, the reason why it seems when they are talking on the phone, they repeat words or sentences frequently, is because unlike talking vocally on the phone where you think what your going to say and that travels through your nerves to tell your mouth to speak properly. but because it is a direct implant, the brain will speak faster than it can properly think so you can think of it as them instantly conversing and rephrasing or repeating certain words or phases as if their brain is also auto correcting themselves.

Scotsman05

SO glad to see this getting added to your watch schedule! One of my favorite series of all time. I’d give suggestions on the progress of your reaction, but this show’s so good, it’d be a waste of time; hope you enjoy!

Brony Time

took an uber once and the driver talked about how she had a mother and son and he had broken his back. Ambulance was to expensive, so yeah we are headed in that direction.

Dragon24

😟 no no no not again

Jittercritter

God this show is SO gripping I was also rewinding every scene multiple times lol
