Man, animation really hit the ground RUNNING in the 2020s, huh? Arcane, Invincible, Legend of Vox Machina; all these amazing shows came out the SAME YEAR.

HBelmont 24

Props to Arcane's marketing team for not spoiling Jayce, Viktor, and Mel's survival this episode. 👏👏👏

Schlong Shucker

Right? After S1 final, I thought everyone but Viktor was cooked, and the trailers not showing them led me to continue to believe it

Seachelle

yeah I genuinely thought Mel wasn’t gonna make it, really glad they didn’t just throw her character away for Jayce development, that’s what most shows would have done

HBelmont 24

Kenny, you know we love your guys' analyses. But for future reference, when it's during a musical sequence, maybe watch it through to the end, THEN go back and break the scenes down? There's a chance that if you just let the scenes play out, they'll answer any questions you might have.

Seachelle

I’m sorry but comparing Arcane to those shows in terms of animation is like comparing Spiderverse to Big Mouth 💀😂

Seachelle

yeah the music is written for the show, it’s worth it to listen

HBelmont 24

On the subject of goth/emo Vi: what is the difference between the two?

Seachelle

me the entire episode: where jinx

HBelmont 24

Vi stepping out of the shadows in Enforcer gear is such a crazy awesome moment that I almost wish it wasn't in the trailers. 😵

HBelmont 24

The heck are you talking about? Invincible and Vox Machina are both GREAT series.

Seachelle

Yeah but animation wise (which you specified)… come on

Cloudboyx

The way Caitlyns world view switched to black and white...oh girl :(

HBelmont 24

Oh, so THAT'S what that meant

HBelmont 24

I meant more just animated projects in general, as all three have other great qualities (characters, voice-acting, writing, etc).

HBelmont 24

Is this show like Cyberpunk, where every episode is named after a song?

Ferret

Aesthetically, Goth is very heavily Victorian inspired, while emo is much more modern (except where it specifically is inspired by goth). In terms of mood, Goth leans into depression and detachment, while emo, true to the name, leans a lot more into emotion.

HBelmont 24

You two complimenting each other's eyes was so cute. ☺️

HBelmont 24

So Vi is likely more emo than goth?

Orion Blue

It's hard to talk about Arcane without sounding like a snob. Because this is pure art in my opinion

Day

Okay but watching enforcers end both of your parents, enforcers as a group representing the upper city government, is a little different from seeing a building with just your mom in it blown up by one person 😬 both suck but one is slightly worse to deal with

Day

As someone who used to play league of legends, it's so interesting seeing the characters kind of turn into how you play them in the game. Like Jayce's hextech hammer is his main weapon, so seeing the buildup and creation of it was so fascinating, and Jinx has always been like a mentally psycho, very unstable killer queen so in S1 seeing her kind of descend into chaos was verrry interesting to witness

Day

Their animation and color choices during that sequence was spot on representation of how shock and grief can like, make you be physically present in time, but mentally you aren't processing anything going on around you

HyperColt14 B42

whenever i play LOL with my friend, i main jinx cause i think she looks fire 😂

Seachelle

I don’t think they actually saw it, either way losing a parent in such a sudden and traumatic fashion is gonna do a number on you. Caitlyn also has the added layer of guilt on top of it as well

Day

She used to be so OP until they nerfed her back in like 2016-2017 era 😭

Keyblade

Did something happen with the screen capture? I know Arcane is 24p but it looks like it is 15fps. The react to the first season did not have this problem. Mixing/matching different framerates (your camera and the screen recording) can result in a messy playback of one of them.

Nigel Douglas

Bro is making up scenes lol. Their parents are already dead when they got there. It’s the first scene of the series

Nigel Douglas

Me when I watch trailers hoping not to get spoiled

Day

True true

nyllyn

seconding this. it's really hard to watch cuz there's barely enough frames to see what's going on in the screen capture during action scenes. unless this was done for, like, dodging-copyright reasons, pwease fix. if possible

demonic-myst

bet. I could cosplay jayce” you look alot like jayce head slight wider but besides that pretty close

demonic-myst

Warmonger and rich its more two parts the same coin noxians are rich because of war they conquire and take what they want theyre very roman

Juan Solo

I think its like last season, where it's a mix between lines from different characters or song verses.

demonic-myst

Also its not actualy enforcers who did it going of hints in the games its a agent of one the houses but vi just blames the enforcers as a representation 9f top side

demonic-myst

“Have seen her becore” yes she 8s one the chem barons one silkos generals in the first season her son wss the child killed by jayce

Kristopher Sy

I never played but she was my crush too

Letts React

It’s hard for the recording laptop to keep up with the animation, I’ll fix it for ep 3-9

Letts React

It’s hard for the recording laptop to keep up with the quality of the animation, I’ll fix it for ep 3-9

Letts React

It’s not a mix match framerate thing it’s just Netflix being hard to do that level of quality on my recording laptop. Next time I’ll screen record the episodes on my computer prior without watching it (just turn it on and leave the room) then we’ll watch the good quality local recording on the laptop, worked with the trailer too

Letts React

Additionally all of the tech for our setup was acting up yesterday. No worries, we will fix it!

Keyblade

alright! thanks! :)

Jota Canutto

lmao the animation is too good xD

Saiyasha

I still think the golden glow on Mel's back seconds before the impact had something to do with both her and Jayce prety much walking away without a scratch. like I think whateevr that was protected her and because she was standing right in front of Jayce, he was protected as well

Roy Meulblok

The guy at the end with the trap is Singed.

Erin Ryan

I love this because we can kinda react with you guys! I've never played LoL so I have no idea how this is gonna end up

HBelmont 24

It'll look better on YouTube, right?

HBelmont 24

This wasn't an issue for season one, right?

HBelmont 24

Course you reply to a Cyberpunk comment 😅

HBelmont 24

Not only them. I'm shocked that two of the other council members also survived. It should be interesting, seeing as we didn't really get much of their characters last season.

Eric C

the way caitlyn didn't cry until face to face with vi....bruh i'm unwell. that's home right there

Letts React

I fixed the fps on this video! Should be good to go now 😎

Arcane is definitely a league above in terms of animation but Invincible has some really great animation too. It doesn't have the kind of ridiculous attention to detail that Arcane puts into even the most minor background stuff, but it goes really hard for the most important scenes.

HBelmont 24

Thanks for fixing the frame rate!

HBelmont 24

What's that mean exactly? I know it was mentioned in MHA s7, but still. 😅

Juan Solo

Why do you say that? 😏

Kyle MacDonald

To be fair to Vi at 21:25: Cait's mother died and got a gilded marble coffin, a statue, and hundreds of mourners dropping rose petals. Vi's parents died and got a dirty gutter and maybe a trash chute or incinerator if they were lucky enough to not just be scooped off the bridge and into the river. To quote Vi herself from early season one: "I had to grow up knowing I'm less than them."

𝖐𝖆𝖙𝖘𝖚𝖐𝖎 𝖇𝖆𝖐𝖚𝖌𝖔𝖆𝖙

It's a very uncomfortable and skin crawling feeling when seeing small clusters of holes. I think it's related to our old instincts of seeing that pattern on anything diseased or sick and avoiding it. It makes me want to throw up and scratch my skin off. It's horrid.

Karmac

i think i might be from mels flashback i think that temple they took was targon and the have cool stuff they make out of fancy gold and silver metal

HBelmont 24

That's . . . neat. Also, have all their recent posts on Patreon suddenly disappeared for you?

HBelmont 24

Yeah, what's that about?

Keyblade

Thank you so much! :D

HBelmont 24

The way Caitlin's mouth creases when she says Jinx's name at 47:43 is such a great, subtle detail.

Bryan

I literally remember nothing from this show

Coqnbauz

Ambessa was the one who taught Mel how to be both the Fox and the Wolf so don't just assume she's all about brute force (not a criticism of you guys though, I love your content)

Mark O'Leary

If you pay attention during his big speech, Salo (the council member in the wheelchair) uses Ambessa's vocabulary, almost like it's something she told him to say beforehand...

Suplee215

Vi told Caitlyn to call off the invasion. A surgical strike team is meant to avoid the invasion, not be part of it. Vi agreed someone had to go after jinx earlier so makes sense she's agreeing to this. Send 5 people instead of 100

HBelmont 24

I don't know how to feel about Maddie after ep 4. Edit: Even less so now!

drew

what’s crazy to me is Caitlyn and vi aren’t even officially dating or anything like that it’s just this super complicated sapphic situationship😭😭

Braden Jackson

I wouldn’t say that you should hate her it was over the course of months and she isn’t doing it to hurt vi or cait she is mostly a innocent young adult and I believe she is what was keeping Caitlyn from being a direct other ambessa so she did help keep cait sane but I do understand if you aren’t a fan of her after what happened between cait and vi

Yaka

respectfully cate asking vi to be an enforcer is NOT the same thing as jinx just offing her mom, nobody is asking cate to ware a jinx shirt and supoort her ideals....

Mathies

well i mean. Vi said the way you call off the invasion is if we go in together as a surgical 5-man squad rather than invading with the entire force. besides, Vi actually knows the underground so she is on home soil. But its mostly that they prevented an all out war and are going for a strike team with a specific mission
