HBelmont67

The party scene might be my new favorite musical moment of the show. The song is FIRE, the prom vibes are immaculate, and Ekko and Powder are so cute.

HBelmont67

What are the odds that each season's seventh episode are Ekko focused and also arguably the best episode?

HBelmont67

Pretty sure I've seen that shirt on Kenny before. 😅

HBelmont67

Over the Garden Wall should be interesting. Haven't even watched it myself. But Legend of Vox Machina NEEDS to be the priority after that and Invincible season three. Please. 🙏

Erin Ryan

THE GOAT IS HERE EKKO THE BOY SAVIOUR WHO BROKE TIME

HBelmont67

The episode constantly switching from Ekko living his best life and Jayce living his absolute WORST is so unintentionally funny that I'm starting to think it may have been intentional. 🤣🤣

Braden Jackson

The wild rune is biased as hell giving Jayce hell while Ekko heaven

Braden Jackson

My goat still choice to help those in need tho

Braden Jackson

It was halarious Ekko got to play the game of life while Jayce got the worst isika possible

Braden Jackson

I know also the fact that powder dances like her mom is so cool

HBelmont67

The reveal that Heimerdinger is the one singing is so fun. 😁

AdmiralZhou

Hands down my favorite episode of the entire series

HBelmont67

Kenny, I know you'll probably have to pitch the French song when this comes to YouTube, but I really hope you'll at least TRY to keep Ekko and Powder's conversation at 43:25-44:40 intact as best as you can. 🙏🙏

yob

best episode in the series with the best song in the series...ma meilleure ennemie has taken over my spotify

yani

fun fact, on the jewellery ekko gave powder, the rose is also drawn as them both

HBelmont67

100% Show peaked here

HBelmont67

Seeing them cheer when Ekko and Powder were about to kiss and deflate when they didn't just makes me want them to react to a romcom anime like Love is War. That would be SO freaking entertaining. 🤣🤣

HBelmont67

The fact that the good universe is the one without Vi in it is . . . interesting. Makes you wonder who the real jinx is. 🤔

Mcdiddys

100% agree with love is war!!

Jittercritter

Oh my god I’ve been SO excited for this

Suplee215

It's unclear what happened to Heimerdinger but I think he used innate Yordle magic. Yordles are also spirit creatures that take on physical bodies. So he can easily come back. One aspect to Echo's decision that I wouldn't be able to ignore if I was in his shoes is what happened to this worlds Ekko? One can make a very compelling argument that Ekko would be killing the Ekko of that universe if he stayed. Or condeming him to life in the main universe. If I had no way back I might not look as hard as ekko did but once there is a way back it will feel way too wrong morally to stay. At that point it becomes a choice of whether to allow the other Ekko to exist or not and thats just too close to murder.

Schlong Shucker

A friend of mine said that she didn’t know if she was kinda disgusted by or wildly attracted to Jayce in this episode

Suplee215

As for the tineline differences, i think what happened is jayce took all the blame for the explosion. It's possible he died in the explosion too so wasn't able to defend himself or show the power of hex tech. What he did was a massive taboo with playing with magic that almost got him banished. With the kids still being at the crime scene and the power source he was messing with seemingly destroyed the fear that the council had of zaunites using the technology is gone. What's more, someone like Vander knows how to play the pr game. I see 2 likely scenarios. Vander agreed to cover up what happened to his daughter in exchange for more resources and equal treatment (piltover will want to sweep it under the rug, especially Jayce's sponsor) or the senseless death of a child due to Piltover's greed (both for power directly by Jayce and just in general that led to the situation that required zaunite children to go be criminals) motivated society to change. I think silco was changed because he didn't have the oppurtunity thst caused him to do what he did in season 1 and most likely he found the letter Vander left. Jinx said it could have been different if he found it.

Neburcs

Not Vi nor Powder is the real Jinx. It's not just Vi being dead in this alternative reality that's different. We also have Vander and Silco working side by side. Some might say hextech was the real jinx. I think there never was any Jinx at all, it's just life, you can't blame everything on just a singular individual.

Naomi FC

By the HC of one of the writers Amanda Overton, Caitlyn died in the explosion too because there isn't any universe in which they are not together - the only universe in which they're not together would be the one where they aren't both alive at the same time :'(

HBelmont67

Given how against each other Powder and Mylo were in the first act of season one, it's actually nice to see them close in this alternate universe. She's basically his supportive little sister, giving him crap while also bailing him out from looking stupid.

BlueEyedRaven

I feel this episode was dedicated to all of us that wondered what would have become of Powder if the bad stuff never happened.

SkinnyAsAStick

I saw somewhere that this episode Jayce had to walk through hell while Ekko had to give up heaven

demonic-myst

As far i see time line Silco forgave vander so no issue their Vi was too slow getting out the build8ng and died 8n the blast Vi dying meant that piltover could blame her for the blast snd no one else needed be arested

Erin Ryan

The creator said that when powder first joined Silco, Ekko looked for her, found her and tried to bring her home. But powder slapped him the same way Vi did to her and told him "its Jinx now" and told him to leave

demonic-myst

He tech going bad was a rand9m event cauzed by large scale use through the hex gate weapons and small devices have no impact hell in the games he made a hextech trex robot

Manic Void

It was stated somewhere that the frame rate changed to 4 frames per second, the same amount of time Ekko can go back in time- symbolizing his desire to have that moment specifically, last forever.

Juan Solo

I think losing Vi caused Mylo to reevaluate his relationship with Powder. He probably wanted to honor her memory by being more supportive towards Powder.

demonic-myst

Yordles respawn in their home town after death he sim0ly tRansported home

demonic-myst

Heimerdinger is fine he 8s a yordle when a yordles body dies their spirit returns to their native home and gets a nee body their imortal

Suplee215

Possibly. There's the question of which universe he got sent to. While he was in the good universe it's possible his spirit went through the portal too with ekko and is in his home. With the caveat of i got bo idea how fictional spirit magic reacts with fictional arcane magic that bends space and time.

Seachelle

Btw the French song that played when Ekko and Powder danced roughly translates to “My Best Enemy”. Highly recommend watching the lyrics video cuz it’s amazing, for sure one of my favorites in the entire show I love these two so much man 😭

Juan Solo

Ekko: Life is Strange ⏳️ Jayce: Silent Hill 💀

Seachelle

Spin the Wheel is also a great song, tho the visuals often distract people from it a ton 💀

StorytellerDave

42:10 - Regarding Silco and Vander, my theory is that after Vi's death Silco went to offer his condolences to Vancer, after all they both were close with Vi&Powder's mother, and Vander finally was able to give Silco that letter that he never could in the other timeline. They cleared the air over grief and finally were able to move on. There was no manhunt for the stolen items in this timeline after all, likely because Jayce either died or was put in prison since his invention killed a person.

Juan Solo

Fun fact: the Z-Drive is the source of Ekko's abilities in League of Legends (time manipulation). His ultimate move is the 4-second rewind. His powers were foreshadowed a few times back in season 1. His first line of dialogue in the show is "Give me a few seconds..." The whole fight sequence against Jinx in S1E7 is a clever reference to his ult. The scene first shows them as kids playing a game, with Powder landing a shot on Ekko, then "rewinds" back to the present in which Ekko predicts Jinx's shots. Not to mention Ekko's shadow in S2's intro "ticks" counterclockwise 4 times, and his leap at the end is rewound.

Juan Solo

Replacing Vi and Jinx with Ekko and Powder on the music disc at the beginning of this episode is such a cool detail.

Tyler Stone

jenny loves the word “chaos”

Juan Solo

As we all know, during Act 1 of S1 Marcus had a low opinion of the undercity and its people, seeing them all as nothing more than criminals. Despite the fact that the kids were trying to steal, seeing a little girl cry over her dead sister probably gave Marcus a much-needed reality check in this timeline. Vi's death seemed to not only prevent Hextech from being invented, but also contributed to improving relations between Piltover and Zaun (and was what led Vander and Silco to reconcile).

Juan Solo

If you go back to S1E1, you can see how Vi is the only one who's still inside the apartment when the crystal explodes. She gets knocked down, but is otherwise uninjured. She was simply too close to the blast in this alternate timeline.

Juan Solo

Jayce just needs a shower and proper treatment for his leg, problem solved 😆

blue_haruki

After arcane, k8, friren, or my hero s7 you guys should watch Steven universe, rick and morty, or jojos bizarre adventure, rick and morty is like hazbin hotel and the episodes are pretty short and steven universe is like owl house and gravity falls and it has songs like hazbin hotel and jojos is a pretty good anime

Schlong Shucker

Yeah man his leg stuff was really hard to watch

Cyan_Sky9135

Super excited for OtGW! 😁

Vys

I love the view you guys have that it wasn't the event but the response that made Jinx. I haven't seen any other people bring that up before, but between what you said and what we saw in this episode it really put it together for me. Always love your analysis at the end of each episode, you both always give me food for thought!

Dawson

I would love to see you both react to Assassination Classroom in the future!

Joseph

I would love for them to react to that and Classroom of the elite

Erin Ryan

Dance with ekko and powder was 1 frame per 4 second because the Z-Drive rewinds 4 seconds

Cody Simpson

I’m still pulling for Castlevania one of these days! A lot of flawed characters for you guys to dissect.

Erin Ryan

The cut between Ekko and Powder dancing to Jayce fighting for his life

Erin Ryan

RIP Heimerdinger!!! Hes probably a big reason piltover and zaun have such a good relationship. He was still the leader of the counsel and for 3 years hes been improving it

StorytellerDave

I got the impression that he got kicked off the council actually. He tells Ekko that he should be careful about talking about parallel universes and it makes it sound like he tried to talk about it and people thought he was crazy. I think the reason Zaun and Piltover have a good relationship is because Silco went to offer his condolences to Vander after Vi's death and they were finally able to talk their issues out, Vander would've given him the letter that he never did in the other timeline. They were both close with Vi&Powder's mother so it'd make sense for them to hash things out over grief. Jayce is also probably in prison or dead, his experiments killed a person, so he would be treated way harsher, and likely there was no hunt for the crystals in this timeline either, so no enforcer brutality to worsen relationships.

Cristina M

The best episode of the season ! Ekko and Jinx/Powder have one of my favorite dynamics of the show so seeing an episode dedicated to them was amazing. Timebomb literally has my heart. After finishing the season you should look into the official art book. It’s written from Jinx’s perspective so you get more of an insight of her relationship with Ekko!

Eric C

not-so-fun-fact: in flower language, the blue rose that's on that pendant/necklace that powder looks at? (which was a gift from ekko, and you can see their two facial profiles on it too) it symbolizes unattainability in life and/or love..... i'm not okay.

Cody

Just felt like I should chime in but as someone who speaks french I've seen a lot of people interpreting the song that played with Jinx and Ekko as a love song without realizing what they're actually saying. To sum up the whole song it's essentially one of a tragic romance. The chorus; "but my best enemy is you, flee me, the worst is me and you." In the song he literally starts the song with "You're the best thing that happened to me but also the worst, the day that we met, I would have maybe preferred we didn't"

Seachelle

I mean, the lyrics also have “keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer”, so. Their dynamic is complicated, is what the song is really saying.

fr0st

Glad you finally spotted the Les Miz reference, haha. A fun little thing also is that in that shot, we see Jinx's shadow multiplying, which is a nice little nod IMO to all the people dying their hair like her as a symbol of the resistance

Babybear47

I think jinx more or less became jinx because every mission they went on they kept calling her a jinx and then when vi kept saying she wasn't until she blew up everything and vi hit powder and said that she is a jinx. Just being put down like that made it worse and worse so she believed it. But in this universe she lost vi before more and more trauma so to say happened and also having Vander and silico.

Babybear47

Heimerdinger is a yordle, a type of creature that’s immortal in the League of Legends games; he could exist in a different realm; and we don’t actually see him die on screen. Not really a spoiler cuz it never specifically says what happens to him but in case y'all didn't know.

HBelmont67

Assassination classroom would be a nice change of pace. That will make you laugh and cry just as hard.

Nick Gardner

one little detail that I like in this episode is after Heimerdinger is done singing you can see Sevika with her back turned talking to someone, on the right side of the screen while Ekko is clapping.

Hewmanity

That's how I saw it. Instead of Marcus seeing it as an attack with fugitives on the run, he saw how the current status quo was causing *children* to make such desperate choices with devastating consequences. Especially since his own daughter was most likely just born.

Jaden Barnes

Lore context: Heimerdinger belongs to a species of immortal spirit beings known as Yordles. It's unknown if Yordles can resurrect back into a mortal form, but they can't actually "die" in a traditional sense either. Whenever a Yordles body is destroyed or "killed", their soul will most often go back to the spirit world or will reside near the closest region from where they originally entered the mortal realm. When it comes to Yordle lifetimes, Heimerdinger would technically be considered to still be in his youth. There are some Yordles that are well over 10,000 years old and a few believed to have been born before even prehistoric times.

Not Amused

I’m not sure if you prefer to stick with animated shows but Severance is quite good, and the new season comes out next month

CadeNoCap

I just saw y’all asking about the guy in the underwear meme. That happened in my hometown. If you look up TPC Explosion Port Neches, Texas you’ll more than likely find it😂

Lucas Barros

Also, without Hextech, Piltover couldn't just blow up economically without depending as much on Zaun like it did in the original timeline. Silco said it himself in Season 1, "Thanks to the Hexgates, topside is leaving us further and further behind." Without it, Piltover would not have become the "global shipping lane" that it became, and would have been more incentivized to have good relations with Zaun in order to increase economic growth and keep up with the rest of the world.

LowHorizon

Yay!! Love over the garden wall

Luke

Vinland Saga next it’s a masterpiece

Dragi

One of the reasons why Silco is on good terms with Vander could be that in this timeline, he actually found the letter Vander left him. :(

Lilgggg

The frame rate when they're dancing is 4 frames per second because echoes ultimate takes them back 4 seconds in game

Brooklyn

Just saw some newly released concept art and Viktor wasn’t brought back from the brink of death. He died. Jayce performed necromancy to bring Victor back to life.

Miki

dont forget the letter vander wrote silco in s2e5 apologizing if he had sent that letter things might have been different in their universe

AuroraZero_

I'm late to the party so it looks like others have mentioned the dancing is 4 frames per second bc Ekkos thing goes back 4 seconds, BUT that whole sequence is 4 minutes and 44 seconds!! Crazy level of detail lol Also that damn song man is HEARTBREAKING! Ma Meilleure Ennemie. It's all about how Ekko and Powder and the best and worst thing that could happen to each other. Highly suggest looking up the English lyrics and then crying lol

Ferret

According to the creators, the reason this golden timeline is one where Vi is dead is because she created Jinx. Powder cannot thrive in a world where Vi exists.

Seth

wheres the next episode:(
