OMG HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE TO US 😭

Chris Collier

Thank you guys for working so diligently :)

Alanin_8💜

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR RELEASING THIS EARLY!!! THE BEST EPISODE OF THE SEASON AND TOP 3 OF THE SERIES IN MY OPINION!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎉

Joe Duncan

YOU GUYS ARE GOATS I BEYTER SEE YOU GUYS STILL REACTING TO ANIME SHOWS IN 2025

Binge Buds

PLEASE DO THEM ALL TONIGHT

Noboi

What a perfect way to end the year! One of the best MHA episodes (minus the part I don’t like it’s amazing)

HBelmont67

The fact that they left us on that All Might tease for TWO EPISODES is mean!

Molly McDougal

1) Thank you so much this is amazing! 2) I don't know if my heart can handle these three episodes all at once again 3) Happy New Year!

Matthew Richson

I just have to acknowledge all the VA’s for destroying us this episode. Particularly Patrick Seitz as he always does.

Natsuo Todoroki

Already 2025 where I am right now, but happy almost new year to everyone here!

raieBread

Do you think y'all would ever pick up Young Justice again? 4 healthy seasons and big on character development/story I think it'd fit right in line thematically with your other stuff.

Limini

Omgggg

XavierBlaze99

This is the best surprise ever - how does it feel to be the most based and GOATED reactor of all time, Kenny?

yob

I need medical attention

ssgutd

LFG!! The last three episodes are the best of the season imo

Tigerclaw

Fr, even though 7x20 was good I was thinking to myself: "hurry up I wanna see All Might" lol

yob

js letting you know audio gets un-synched at 37:03 (not a complaint or anything cuz i know yall putting in that WORK to get these out)

HBelmont67

Uh, what's the the lack of lip synch at 37:05?

CEEmma

No better way to start the New Year than with an episode of keeping up with the Todoroki’s

Jinchuriki87

And there it is... Kenny once again goes PLUS ULTRA for us!!!!

Jinchuriki87

Letts have a great new year!!!

Limini

"I am here" Both all might showing up to save the day as well as the todoroki family showing up for touya

Himiko Toga

Dabi's "me too, die" will never not break my heart 😭

Limini

I am so glad that all of them were there to conclude this. Especially Rei 😫😫😫😫

Himiko Toga

So depressing that Dabi manifested rei's quirk at the end. It was a giant FU to endeavor, if he was just a good dad to him, he would have been the son be wanted all along 😭😭

Limini

Endeavor has more than two decades to atone for. This is definitely a great start. He has never addressed his wrongs do directly before. Now all that's missing is following up with actions.

HBelmont67

I told you your question would be picked. 😁

HBelmont67

Dude, the voice-acting in this episode was FIRE! (All my puns are intentional) I hadn't actually seen these last three episodes in dub yet.

HBelmont67

The way this episode almost mirrored Endeavor's fight with the Nomu, with him about to take Toya into the sky. 💥 😢

Himiko Toga

MY GIRLS NEXT AND I NEED IT NOOWW 😱😱😱

skudann

Iida's comment to Todoroki this episode of "becoming who you want to be" made me realize that his hero name being "Shoto" wasn't just a gag/joke of how boring it is, but that Shoto genuinely picked it due to his journey of self acceptance

HBelmont67

Man, Iida's gonna have the GNARLIEST road rash after this. 😬

Jerred

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A SURPRISE THANK YOU BOTH, CANT WAIT FOR YOU TO FINISH THE SEASON!!! psst you're gonna love ep 21 😁😁

Kaleb

Triple drop PLEASE I know its unprecedented but PLEASE

Kaleb

please pleaase triple drop

Hari Viswanathan akZNIpCfAg

For A New I really Hope you Consider Fair Tail. Its one of my favorite shows and it's has one of the best Dubs. Also Again a lot of similar themes as MHA

Kaleb

Also, I know it lost the poll but dr stone would go SO hard I love it and I know you would too

Noboi

It's also somewhat of a callback to Shoto's line to Iida in season 2 about becoming the hero Iida's brother would want him to be.

Noboi

As much as I wish that Endeavor's arc worked a little more as like, a character, Patrick Seitz is a gift to voice acting. Also all of the other Todoroki family members have great actors. Adam Gibbs in particular is a standout for me ngl

Noboi

Well, issue here is that he kind of had a window to atone with Toya, but considering the state that Toya is now in, there's a certain disconnect between this, and the concept of "spending the rest of his life atoning."

Limini

What do you mean?

Limini

The fanservice is atrocious tho

Limini

I cringed when he landed face first, with the speed he was going that must have hurt so much

Roddy Rod

Geez, the English voice acting!!!

Rhythem

Thanks so much for the early release!! Take your time with the final two and I wish you both a Happy New Year!!!

Noboi

I think the biggest point of contention with Endeavor’s character comes up here, with him and Toya. A lot of people like to talk about how thorough Endeavor’s apology was and how he did what he could for Toya, while other people say that he gave up on Toya way too quickly, and since Toya is basically dead now, for all intents and purposes, Endeavor basically failed to atone for Toya. Then again, this is all based on what angle you look at it with

Kiribukai

IT DESTROYS ME 😭 I was sobbing so hard the first time I watched this episode it woke my husband out of a dead sleep from across the house. it just really got to me. 💔

Natsuo Todoroki

Aaand it was kinda misinterpreted… 😅 It’s all cool though. That’s probably on me for the phrasing.

L.C.

Wow. Did not see this coming!

yob

I'm surprised he still even has a face💀

Hari Viswanathan akZNIpCfAg

Don't really agree. The worse fanservice is in the OVAs the show itself have the same amount as MHA

Noboi

To lay it out a little, as Kenny mentioned, there's not a whole lot Enji could have done to atone. However, the concept of "saving" Toya essentially provided a great opportunity to do something. But now, Toya's basically dead, and Enji is partially to blame for the events of the final war turning out as they did. So Enji kind of missed a major window to atone, and even if Toya still has some life left in him, we're now back to the point of Enji not really being able to do a whole lot, because he missed his window with Toya so profusely. That's not to say that he's completely to blame for things turning out this way, but it definitely makes his atonement arc just that much more strange to say the least.

Hari Viswanathan akZNIpCfAg

There is one or two episodes way later close to 160s is where there is a atrocious episode and you can easily skip it no problem

Hari Viswanathan akZNIpCfAg

Great Reaction!! Also Yeah agreed with your Thoughts about Endeavour!! He is my favourite character in MHA

Rhythem

No matter how many times I watch this episode, it never makes me fail to tear up. Next episode too... 🥲

Danny C

Can’t wait to watch this when I get home. I’ve been so excited for you two to see the conclusion since it came out in the manga

Limini

Enji has not only wronged Toya. So I think his atonement should also include a lot more than Toya. For me Enji is not to blame for he final war or anything, I want him to atone for what he did to his family. Even if Toya dies there is still a lot more for him to do, and there was a lot he could have done before too.THe didn't have much options when it came to "saving" Toya bc he was already a dead man walking and on a path tosselfdestruction. But how he acts in the future towards his family, outside of the war and hero work is what's important I think. He missed a lot of opportunities but atonement in thd first place isn't about redeeming him. The goal is not to make him a "good/sinfree" Person again but about lessening the damage he has done to his family. He has always prioritized hero work before his family. And his selfish goals before the well-being of his family. So moving forward the right course would be to do the opposite. Thinking about what Toya, shoto, rei, natsuo and fuyumi would have wanted or needed and then giving it to them.S I don't think there's nothing Enji can do to atkne anymore. I don't think his atonement is only tied to Toya and I don't think that even if it was that it would end with Toya dying. Even if he would have "saved" Toya here of beforet, that would have only been step one. Maybe I read it wrong but your comment makes it sound like now that Toya is "done", Enji atoning is not possible or worth it anymore.

Natsuo Todoroki

I guess I kinda got an answer with the “if this was five minutes ago, then no,” response, which I guess is fair since they think that Touya is dead. I guess I was asking specifically about Touya’s rambling incoherently and how a lot of people saw that as his mind being completely broken at that point, but then we get info that conveys the opposite to an extent. Not the best phrasing on my part. 😅

Limini

It's been a while so maybe I'm remembering it wrong or we have different standards as to what constitutes as fanservice. I just remember lots of boob and boob based jokes as well as ripping clothes. Which can be fine but for me it kind of disrupted the pacing of the show/took me out of the moment

Hari Viswanathan akZNIpCfAg

It's a genuine reason yes I agree but all that start to happen way later in the show and to be honest for me those jokes are actually in line with all the character interactions also also those jokes couldn't be as bad as Mineta right? Mineta at the start that is!! But yeah your concern is valid but i think the show itself is great

James S

Happy new year!

Gestrid

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Arthur

genuinely so happy you guys are doing this

Natsuo Todoroki

I’m kinda embarrassed that the phrasing of my question threw them off so much since it got kinda misinterpreted 😅

Stache King

All throughout the ages, a parent's love for their children surpasses ANY weapon. But if said parents are misguided in their ways, they will bring harm to those they're trying to protect. Such is the fate of Enji Todoroki. And my God, Patrick Seitz delivered his best performance of Endeavor in the entire series. However, this is not yet the end of the Todoroki family. I will say without spoilers, at some point in the final season, we will get a final closure on both Endeavor's hero status and the fate of every member of the Todoroki family. And on a final note, All Might vs AFO one last time. 😁

renuzui

@ Hari, I used to watch Fairy Tail myself. But I have to agree with Limini about the fanservice. It wasn’t so bad in the beginning, but by the end it was just outrageous (I had multiple other problems with that series too but I digress). Although, I guess to be fair the fanservice definitely encompassed both the male and female characters. But it seriously got to be too much (remembering a very specific scene with Erza....). One of the reasons I dipped out, personally. :///

HBelmont67

How did you mean it? I'm curious.

Hari Viswanathan akZNIpCfAg

To be honest I have just rewatched recently (for the fifth time😂) I still don't think its as bad as people think. I am not denying there isn't, there is fan service but I can tell you it's way less than people make it out. Also as I say the worst fanservice episode can be easily skipped because most of em are not really related to the story. Just don't watch the OVAs. And Just because of fanservice i don't want people to leave out the great story it has. There is one particular episode the grand magic games i think 160s or something which is bad but other than that I don't think it's genuine as bad as people think. The filler episodes and ovas have a lot more of that

Hari Viswanathan akZNIpCfAg

Again it's just my hope. I know very well It's very tough that they would consider because it's just too long but I can hope right?

Natsuo Todoroki

I guess I kinda got an answer with the “if this was five minutes ago, then no,” response, which I guess is fair since they think that Touya is dead. I guess I was asking specifically about Touya’s rambling incoherently and how a lot of people saw that as his mind being completely broken at that point, but then we get info that conveys the opposite to an extent. Not the best phrasing on my part. 😅

renuzui

It’s so heartbreaking......minus Endeavor himself ofc, I truly feel so bad for the Todoroki family. And these last three episodes are just gut wrenching every time 😭😭💔💔

Kevin De Bruyne

wow seeing this after midnight what a gift

Danny C

This episode hurts, no matter how many times you watch it… Awesome discussion at the end, and great to see both of you not just blanket forgive Endeavour, but also give him his flowers

Danny C

One thing to mention since they cut it out from the manga, there’s a scene of Geten and Mr. Compress in prison talking before we see Dabi reach Endeavour. Geten explains that Himura blood runs thick, and the family has been marrying cousins for decades. ReDestro saved Geten from his family and brought him in, but the mention of “Himura blood runs thick” is to build up to Dabi awakening Rei’s ice quirk while on the verge of death from his fight with Shoto. That’s why we see the flower blooming before the ice is shown, since it was the one Rei loved seeing. Another point is the chapter where Shoto saves his family is called “Shoto Todoroki: Rising”. They called the episode “I AM HERE” to reference AllMight (which was the title of his chapter) but it also highlights Shoto’s moment also being his “I am here” moment.

Danny C

There’s something just so perfect about Shoto becoming more than just his father’s son. Good catch

Kiribukai

As an eldest sibling who has almost no contact with her family anymore, this episode pulled at all the heart strings for me. I cried so hard and still teared up again while watching it with you guys. I have always loved Dabi as a villain but felt especially connected to him as a character after the Dabi/Toya reveal. Kenny had said something about a part of him being healed after watching Bakugo apologize to Deku in 6x23. Endeavor in this episode did something similar for me. “I won’t let you die alone, Son.” “I will keep looking at Toya.” 😭 It was all so well done and as tragic as it was, it was probably the most beautiful way to end Dabi’s story, with his family there trying to save him. I also want to thank Montana for being so vulnerable about her struggles with her father over the past few years during these Todoroki family discussions. There were so many times I just wanted to hug her through the screen! I just hope you know that your openness has meant a lot to me and helped me learn to be more honest with others about my feelings as well ❤️ The Todoroki family has a special place in my heart. I hope they can heal from all of this. However, it’s difficult to see how they will be able to overcome this trauma at the moment though.

Allan romero

Between all mights I AM HERE and endeavors and the todoroki family’s scene this episode has to be the best in the series. And can we talk about the animation geezzzz Fans-how much it’s it going to cost to animate ep 19 Animators-yes

Limini

Seriously lol, all todoroki children have majority white hair and ice powers and even the one born with a full red head and fire powers eventually turned white and icy lol

no u uwu

91 days is a great anime and it’s like 11/12 episodes I think

Minus Mega

I can’t figure out for the life of me why Toya has no arm in that what-if scene where he has no scars and Endeavor puts his hand on his shoulder.

Limini

His arm disintegrated with his last fire punch. Enji hasn't got his arm either but bc of the angle you can't see it. In the shots later after shotos aegier you can see that one of toyas arms is missing

Monica

I really appreciate how comprehensively you analyse such complex characters and relationships. Bunguo Stray Dogs is another anime that I think has a set of highly complex characters that you would really enjoy analysing and just enjoy the world in general

2026-09-19 15:00 Toya was "perfect" all along.. Its part of my head cannon but I think the root quirk which in someone is separate from their quirk factor the factor itself is the thing that mutates when stressed.. So Toya dosent have an ice quirk he just pushed his body to the point where it manifested a last ditch self defence measure dropping it's temp to combat the flames.. Think the same way all might can still buff himself up for a visual gag while quirk less.. Its part of the body now regardless of quirk.. Or even how shigiraki was able to form all those hands while being suppressed by eraser.. The quirk factor is built into the body and both mutate to fit it's needs.. No one is truly quirk less then I bet even if deku didn't receive one for all he could have still became a hero just from all might telling him he can

"look!" and after he throws that fire ball his arm disintegrates.. Probably cus he put his entire arm into that attack.. And it follows the trend that his kids end up mirroring him and visa vera with the left side of the face and the missing right arm

chris
>>159927827

I like that his at the point where his never done learning just how much he fucked things up..

yani

it might be cheesy, but im hoping for a ''we are here'' line showing that its every hero, not just all might, thats worthy of quelling civilians fears

Saiyasha

Yeah... I know a lot of people where hoping for some kind of "happy ending" for the todoroki family, but I think this is the only way it really could have worked. There was neevr a way for Toya to return. Not after he had become Dabi. And the fight, I think, shows once again that Toya is deeply developemantally stunted. He spent three incredibly formative years in a coma, never really learning to not be a petulant child and the trauma am,plified these traits.

Kaleb

yessss triple drop

Noboi

While I agree with this to an extent, the concept of Enji “atoning” kind of looses practicality when pertaining to the family at this point in time. Like, from what we get in the series itself, you say that Enji has always put his job before his family, which is true. So now that he basically has no job left, thus forcing him to not really do it anymore, again, we’re kind of missing the massive window. Like, within the series itself, we don’t really get a lot to work with. Enji still prioritizes his job over his family, but has just essentially changed his attitude towards them. He performs one act of atonement for their benefits, but beyond that, all we really get in that regard is an attitude adjustment. And I would understand this if these new events created new ways for him to atone for the family, but unfortunately, that’s not really what we’re getting. Toya wasn’t just an opportunity to atone for the kid that he wronged, but it was an opportunity to atone for the family as a whole, and since he failed, we’re again, just kind of brought back to square one in terms of what he can do, since for all intents and purposes, things like attitude adjustments and soul searching is just kind of the bare minimum.

Noboi

I honestly think he’s been at that point for a good while now. Main development is that he now has a lot of his failings right in front of him.

Noboi

Tbh, while I agree that there wasn't really hope for a "happy ending," I would argue that there were ways for Toya to "return" since we're given a fair amount to work with. The issue is that he was given up on before a lot of those aspects are brought to light. Some of this does get into spoilers so I won't say too much, but while Toya had a lot working against him, a fair amount of his actions and words do kind of say that Toya is still in there underneath all of the hate and violence.

Natsuo Todoroki

This is the first time we really see the mask slip a little. Touya’s much more than his hatred and spite lets on…

Natsuo Todoroki

While we like to talk about how hard Endeavor tried here or whatever, I’d argue that this shows off Endeavor’s failures more than anything else. Like, Touya was right there in front of him, and he still failed to atone and get through to him.

Kevin De Bruyne

can we all take a min to appericate shoto todoroki the arc that hes been the journey to become the hero that he is for himself how he runs into the fire with no disregard for his own saftey hes is one of the three chose ones alongside deku and bakugou those three have wills that are on all mights levels

HBelmont67

Your point? This plotline has been about the Todoroki family as a whole, not just Endeavor. If you expected the story to written with Endeavor single-handedly getting through to Toya, then I'm afraid you set yourself up for disappointment.

Natsuo Todoroki

That’s… not really what I said I wanted or expected though… 😅

HBelmont67

Then what is it? I think you gotta work on how you voice your thoughts. Kenny and Montana and now I have both misinterpreted what you mean. 😅

Natsuo Todoroki

To be completely transparent, I’m trying to not get like SUPER into it since Patreon is a different kinda platform than YouTube. As for what I mean, (first I just wanna know why you thought THATS what I meant since I really can’t see how that’s the interpretation, no offense) what I’m getting at is that the way Endeavor handled Touya when he showed up was just really bad, and he only really tried to reach out to him once, and it was when he said like, a few sentences that just kinda reaffirm things that Touya already knows. The reason I didn’t get too into this is because this would go into the classic “what else could’ve happened” discussion, which I don’t think is super appropriate for Patreon since it delves into things that Kenny and Montana don’t really know about yet, so I’m inclined to not bring it up. 😅

Noboi

I mean you're not wrong tbh. One of my biggest issues with this episode is that Enji straight up hardly tried to reach out to Toya. Like you said, he only said a couple things that really don't seem to have a lot of thought or care put into them, and when that didn't work, he just decided to let Toya die, and to get himself killed in the process. I get that part of the reasoning here is that Enji had a fair amount working against him, as he only had a few minutes and Toya wasn't thinking clearly, but like, he still gave up way too soon. And while this situation was inherently sudden, he also had plenty of time to prepare for this, since Toya revealed himself over a month beforehand. And while we can talk in circles about hypotheticals and such and what worked and what wouldn't have, I would say the biggest issue as a whole is that Enji just straight up didn't put in nearly enough effort this episode for him to almost immediately resort to such a drastic thing.

Subaru130

I like how Shoto creating the ice jet actually shows a big improvement on an aspect of his Quirk that doesn't get too much focus. Back when they were helping with those little kids, Shoto said he couldn't create complex designs with his ice without something to serve as the base. The fact that he can make an intricately designed jet on the fly (literally) means he's probably been practicing that a lot off screen.

blue_haruki

You failed on finding popular shows i can guarantee that

Pugz

The Todoroki’s all got matching burns now 😭

Mekar

"All for One originally has no Shigaraki in him" is a funny sentence when Shigaraki is his name, originally. He really went out of his way to make this as confusing as possible for Tomura.

Mekar

This is what I'd describe as a happy ending for them. This is the happiest outcome they could have.

XRon256

Please watch dandadan in the future.

freshfruitbox

Endeavor is my favorite character, the end of this episode had me choking up.

Erin Ryan

Shoto is honestly such an underrated character. He's developed so much into such a gentle and sweet character

Niko

Please watch violet evergarden!

Cristina M

Shoto is my favorite character and I’m so glad to see his growth. Such a heartbreaking episode

Player

I would've liked to see their thoughts on Dabi awakening a weak Ice quirk...

BojacksReacts

I’m not gonna lie man. Toga and Toya have to be some of the best “villain” story writing I’ve ever witnessed. We all know about pain being someone to idealize with, but, I don’t think I’ve ever actually teared up from every reaction on the same thing. Not saying they’re better written than the mcs, but my hero easily has some of the best side characters/arc hellish todoroki fam being one of the

renuzui

Agree to disagree then because again, as someone who watched that show for a while, the fanservice was just outrageous 😭 Though the anime definitely censored a bit. It was definitely way worse in the manga imo. Fanservice wasn’t the only big issue with that series tbh but I digress.

melo edits

Wow I just saw the triple drop! Happy New Year indeed! Thank you! 💙 I don't know how many times I watched this ep (with reaction channels) but still brought me to tears. 😭😭

Minus Mega

Holy shit you’re right. I’ve rewatched this scene a ton of times and never noticed.

Braden Jackson

I also see that as the reason people who don’t have a physical quirk can still be stronger and take damage like how because bakugo makes explosions his body is more durable the body adapts to quirks which is cool

brandon wilson

I really feel like you guys should watch akame ga kill it’s one of my favorite anime’s

Kleed44

I know people will argue he learned his lesson and all that but it rubs me the wrong way every time an abuser who is famous like Endeavor only apologizes and learns from what he did AFTER being outed by his victims. This would be MUCH different in my opinion if Endeavor actually was even slightly honest with the public before Dabi’s Dance. Not trying to hate but I feel this distinction is very important to note. Also I find it really tragic that he helped drive Dabi into such a state where he felt so useless and abandoned that he was begging for death at the end of the episode (obviously Dabi contributed to his own mindset as he grew up but I’m referring to how he set up Toya to fail as a child). And for all the Endeavor fans out there, I’m not absolving Dabi of anything - just noting how sad the situation is

Alacor

To what you mentioned in the first part, I find it kind of interesting you have that stance. From my perspective, Endeavor focused on the people he wronged and was trying to figure out what he could do to set things right (or as right as he could) BEFORE Dabi ever made it public. Why does Endeavor need to worry about the public instead of spending his energy on what really matters? I'd argue spending time on PR over his family would be a bad look for all those involved in what actually went down.

Letts React

Ur alone on this dude haha every poll and way I have checked indicates otherwise, so sorry u don’t love the upcoming shows! If it helps, same thing was said when we started my hero, and it turned out great haha

Kleed44

I’m not suggesting his PR was lacking - what I’m saying is that his decision to not go public with any of it or better himself until he was outted says a lot to me about why he chose to atone and makes me wonder if he would’ve ever changed if he wasn’t forced to by being outted. He was not bettering himself or atoning before he was shown to be an abuser to the public

defnotdai

He absolutely was making an effort to reflect and better himself before Dabi went public. In fact, it really started after his first big fight after becoming number 1, the one with the nomu.

defnotdai

There's literally nothing Endeavor could've said or done to "get through" to Toya. He's too far gone

Natsuo Todoroki

Except he almost immediately recognized mom’s voice, and we get some stuff after this that really puts into perspective how much of Touya is left in there. No spoilers, but let’s just say that the “he’s too far gone” argument doesn’t really work as far as I’m concerned.

Natsuo Todoroki

To be fair, we get one substantial act of atonement before he’s outed, so there’s not a whole lot to really glean here. Like, I guess we can infer that he would’ve actually made more of an effort to atone in the future, but considering how much, or how little atonement we actually have to work with by the ends of things, I’m not really sure this point really comes together for me.

Kleed44

I disagree, but that's cool no worries. I personally saw him losing control over Shoto, his "masterpiece," as Shoto got older (look at the UA Sports Festival for example), and his best way to manipulate/control him was to become someone who Shoto could follow to become powerful. It's a matter of perspective I think, but I'm not going to argue with you if that's your opinion. It's all good no worries, and I'm saying this from Endeavor's perspective as I know Shoto wants more than power obviously. Also, yeah that's a fair point too Natsuo

Noboi

@Alacor I would argue that it would demonstrate his self-awareness much more. A running theme with Enji is that he doesn't address an issue until it's like, right in front of him. Rather than getting any sort of understanding of how exactly these actions reflect on himself as a hero and whether or not he even deserves that title are hardly acknowledged by him before, heck, even after the reveal of Toya. I understand that there were other things happening, but there's a point where I have to ask exactly how aware Enji is of his own hypocrisy since he hardly changes himself as a hero beyond just being more polite to the public. It's something I guess, but it's nothing more than like, the bare minimum, which is another running thing with Enji as a character.

Noboi

@H-Bomb 24 Seemed pretty obvious what he meant to me ngl

Noboi

Contrary to popular opinions, this is the episode that made me really grow to dislike Endeavor's character arc. I feel like the fact that we're praising a thought-out apology is unintentionally indicative of how I feel lol. Like, when this happened I was all, "Oh goody, he finally did more of the bare minimum," but then I see people praising this and I realize exactly how good this presentation of a sloppily-written storyline, just goes to show how great the voice acting, animation, and music is. I literally cried despite Enji's weird writing ngl

dannydarko27

I like to think the title is also about Dabi because he was finally being watched/seen

HBelmont67

You're right; that is an unpopular opinion

HBelmont67

YEEEEEESS! That's a masterpiece.

HBelmont67

Yeah, his MOM'S voice. This is about Endeavor, and what he could've done or said to make Toya stop, which is diddly-squat.

HBelmont67

Who's Adam Gibbs voice, again?

Ethan Brown

If you are taking recommendations, I really want to recommend Akame ga Kill. Its a shorter series so I figured it might fit nicely in between the longer running ones :D

Natsuo Todoroki

1)You’re kinda missing my point of why I bought up mom’s voice. Aka, basic evidence that he was in fact not too far gone in that moment. 2)I can actually think of a few things that Endeavor could’ve done. Like, obviously these circumstances aren’t the ideal way to reach out to someone, but honestly, Endeavor had a fair amount of wiggle room to attempt other things that wouldn’t impede on the time frame of “a few minutes.” Like, when this first happened, a fair amount of ideas went through my own head of what to do before resorting to something so drastic. Since Touya seems to be in the mindset of a child now (something that Endeavor appears to be aware of as it’s something that Touya is verbalizing), he could say the things he could’ve said a long time ago; that Touya was worthy of his attention and that he was wrong to throw him away and not be there when he needed him. And if that doesn’t work, since Touya’s conscious usage of his quirk is what’s keeping him going, Endeavor could find a way to try and knock him unconscious. Considering how much force is already being applied to Touya’s body, it stands to reason that he wouldn’t trigger the explosion if he’s careful. And before you say that none of this would have worked, that’s not really my point here. Even if these things wouldn’t have worked, they would have been at least worth a try, and they would work under the timeframe of a few minutes. And honestly, I’d be a little more understanding if Endeavor wasn’t established to be someone who can act quickly under pressure. There’s a lot more to this that I won’t get into because I don’t wanna go on for too long, but yeah. I think this would only be “not giving up” if Endeavor had truly done everything remotely possible before resorting to just letting Touya die alongside himself.

Noboi

Yeah, the whole "Endeavor is a well-written character" thing has never really worked for me. Dude has one of the most misguided atonement arcs I've ever seen.

Noboi

Adam Gibbs voices Natsuo. Criminally underrated performance.

Kevin Willis

I think it being misguided is part of the point. Not every redemption arc is perfect and exactly how it should be. It's indicative of how someone who finally is starting to atone might speak and act. Selfish and narcissistic don't immediately transform into a a better version of themselves when they start trying to correct their behavior.

Noboi

@Kevin Willis See, while I agree with this in principle, the issue here is the execution. A lot of the inherent issues pertaining to the sloppiness of Enji's arc are just hardly addressed or acknowledged, so if they were intentional, then that's not particularly well done either. The story pushes a narrative of "Endeavor is doing everything he can to atone," which doesn't really line up with what the story is saying. As such, I can't agree with the "Enji's arc was sloppy on purpose" argument without feeling like I'm on copium unfortunately.

gamerx

I'm pretty sure they're watching Hunter next which is the number two rated anime period.

HBelmont67

Sure, Endeavor can "work under pressure" . . . when he's not enduring the greatest physical, mental, and emotional turmoil he's likely ever had to, which he is. Beyond exhausted, gaping wound in his side and missing a HAND, all the while having to contend with his increasingly unstable, back-from-the-dead son, which is the outcome he and EVERYONE else wanted to avoid. Because, when it comes down to it, power-wise and strategy-wise, there was NOTHING ELSE Endeavor could've done here. I'm sorry if that makes you think his arc is half-baked (hehe) or whatever, but don't act like this wasn't set up the MOMENT they put this plan into fruition. Endeavor ended up with his worst possible match-up, and it took his entire family to help bring their son back into the fold, in a manner of speaking. I genuinely fail to see how this isn't a satisfying end to this conflict.

Natsuo Todoroki

First off, yeah, I said “under pressure” without specifying exactly what was happening since… I honestly don’t think that matters overall here. Like, we’ve seen Endeavor recover from extreme mental turmoil, and we see him still fight with intense injuries. And even if I were to agree that these circumstances are ultimately too intense for him, (slight manga spoilers) you and I both know that this isn’t the last we see of him fighting in this state, so the specifics of what he’s going through are kinda moot as far as I’m concerned. And you seem to be kinda missing the point of what I’m talking about when you mention the fact that this is a bad matchup. Basically none of my reasoning here comes down to me wanting Endeavor and Touya to fight, quite the opposite as a matter of fact. And sure, a fight was gonna happen, but I’ve already gone into detail on YouTube as to how I feel about that. 😅 As for my last point, no, this isn’t EXCLUSIVELY why I find his arc to be half-baked (nice pun). This is, at most, a small piece to a larger puzzle. I actually did a comment on the most recent video prompting you if you’re curious since it’ll take a pretty long essay to lay everything out. But trust me, if THIS was the only problem I had with Endeavor, then I wouldn’t be taking about this so passionately. 😅

Would love for you guys to watch the newer version of Fruits Basket! ♥️

Cyan_Sky9135

Speaking of newer version(sorry this isnt about Fruits Basket) when is the newer(SHORTER) version of One Piece coming out? I think its called "The One Piece" but every time I search for it I just get One Piece results!

JevCor

I think you don't understand how humans work. No one can shed all their bad habits immediately it's messy when you are what endeavor was and try to change. You expected instant results aka bad writing and don't understand good writing.

Noboi

You’ve just completely missed the point then. The issue here is that Endeavor’s “inability to shake bad habits” if that’s what you want to call it, doesn’t immediately translate to simply doing the exact opposite of atoning, which is what the majority of his arc amounts to. You can call this “good writing” because it’s “more realistic” but the issue is that there are still “realistic” ways to write an arc about atonement without taking away from the character that’s being focused on. Like, yes, Endeavor is a realistic portrayal of a man who fails at atoning in almost every way, but unless you genuinely believe that to be intentional (which I doubt), then I just consider this sloppy writing.

PanjaMysy

After Hunter x Hunter, you should check out Soul Eater! It's from 2008, but it is SUCH a blast. Sadly, the anime ended before the manga, so the best part of the manga was never animated, but it's a VERY fun and enjoyable show nonetheless!

Josephine Pachali

I liked the series carmen sandiego, maybe you can watch that?

iTanasia

i knowww im so excited for wit's one piece

iTanasia

shoto??? underrated???

iTanasia

montana said "what the hell, sure" with all might 🤣🤣

Billy Alston

After Hunter x Hunter you should watch Yu Yu Hakusho. It is by the same creator and is the best.

Ferret

I reaaaaally think you guys would adore Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and will continue to push it every time y'all ask for new anime suggestions.

Alayna Petty

I know it’s not really plausible for the channel but I genuinely think you two would fall in love with One Piece. If you ever have time to watch it on your own, I promise you’ll never regret it.

Alayna Petty

Feasible* lmaoooo idk what I was doing

Natsuo Todoroki

Yeah, this episode is the hardest I’ve cried in a while. Beforehand, Shoto was called the “hero of the family,” and after this, yeah, he absolutely is. Not that he wasn’t before. And honestly, for as horrific of a person as Touya has become, I think it’s only right for him to be saved by the family and make sure he doesn’t game end himself. It was great timing too since Endeavor had just given up on Touya again. The emotions were complicated as heck this time around, but I’m hoping that Touya can finally find some level of peace. And that’s not even touching on Death Arms and All Might. Cool to see them back in action!

Noboi

This is definitely the episode that made me lose most of my respect for Endeavor as a character ngl. On one hand, that should make me dislike it, but considering the rest of the family being so tearjerking, I can't say that. This episode is amazing.

Noboi

Why did I lose respect for Endeavor?

Suplee215

I think Toya was lost by the time he was an adult and the reflection he had hearing his mother and seeing his family was more a last moment of clarity. Ultimately I think the blame on all for one is fair. When he woke up it was 3 years later. It is stated that it took Endeavor a long time to give up the search and accept the fate so I imagine the search for him was thr best money can buy. Honestly I want to see what that search was. If it wasnt for all for one i actually think it might be a plot hole that a motivated number 2 hero with insane money cant find Toyo.

Hayden Bruce

As a father and a son who had strained daddy issues, this episode destroyed me. Endeavor gripping Doby wanting to die with him to pay for his failure as a father, I couldn't stop crying the rest of the episode.

Marco Garcia

I love that they wrote stain there, because he told ida he wasn’t a hero for wanting revenge rather then saving the hero down next to him, and this time stain said that’s a real hero right there pretty much, he accepts ida like he does deku.
