Loretta

Hi guys! Sorry for the completely irrelevant comment but I didn’t know where to ask or if messaging was okay. I was wondering if you guys would ever bring Fruits Basket(2019) to the channel. Based on commentary you both give with certain series and episodes I feel like you both would really love it. I would love to see shojo in general if you ever considered venturing into that anime genre.

Braden Jackson

Let’s go Frieren is one of the things I most look forward to on Fridays

Erin Ryan

I dont know if yall heard but a 3rd avatar is being made! A new series called Avatar: Seven Havens its set in a world that was destroyed in a cataclysm event. The avatar is now seen as humanities destoryer and is being hunted by humans in spirits

Erin Ryan

I love hearing kennys DnD knowledge in Frieren and Solo Leveling

Matthew Richson

The “good boy” that made us weak in the knees! 😂

HBelmont67

This and last episode are my favorite of the season.

StorytellerDave

2:40 - To Sein, Frieren is basically a kid.

HBelmont67

"The two genders, boys and mages" 🤣🤣

StorytellerDave

12:35 - I'm guessing an 'Awakening' spell cast by a genius like Sein must hit like 12 shots of espresso poured straight into the bloodstream

HBelmont67

"I'M UP!" 😵‍💫

HBelmont67

I adore the dance sequence as much as literally everyone else, but I can't help but feel that it's gonna be a copyright NIGHTMARE on YouTube. 😓

HBelmont67

I never considering the reason Frieren curved her spell from above so that if it were reflected, it would go up! Also, great detail that you can see the reflection of Frieren's spell in Sein's eyes.

PotterBrony

Even Rocky had a montage.

StorytellerDave

32:39 - YES! This is what I love about Frieren, they give the same amount of effort to animating a dance between Stark and Fern as other animes give entire fight sequences! They know what's important to nail down, it's like the Owl House Lumity kiss at the end of season 2, they animated the F out of that 5 second scene, because they knew how important it was.

HBelmont67

There are so many great details during the dance sequence that I pick up something new each time I see it. For example, I'm usually so enraptured by how Fern's hair and dress move that I didn't even notice the way Stark puts his arm behind his back each time he swings her.

HBelmont67

It's clear that Frieren is a labor of love.

MaSeshield9277

The dance was actually not rotoscoped, they didn't trace over the mocap, they did it free hand using the mocap as a visual template for each key frame.

MaSeshield9277

Woops should have waiting 2 more minutes to see you read my question haha! So happy to see the appreciation

StorytellerDave

Next one is pretty good too, I love the old man. Also ep26, gosh that episode rules.

Ecodude

What Sein wants is very specific lol he wants the "Oneesan" trope and the meaning is kinda lost in the translation unless you are quite familiar with those tropes so you can understand by context regardless of the dub or sub 😂 Frieren, despite the age, don't fit in that trope (it doesn't help that they literally gave her a hot "oneesan" voice in the dub lmao)

HBelmont67

On the topic of counters for this show, there definitely needs to be a "Sein Likes Milfs" Counter. 🤣🤣

Erin Ryan

Its funny on westerns replace it with MILFs

Limini

Montana is so reliable when it comes to horses on screen. Main reason I subbed the Patreon was bc I really loved the horse commentary in AOT

Limini

i never noticed that this episode didn't have am ending song

Limini

The bg music during the rotoscoping/dancing question was nice.

HBelmont67

Was fully hand-drawn

HBelmont67

Same here. Frieren Fridays FTW!

Kyle MacDonald

Invincible: "Okay, so we have to cheap out on the animation for this entire episode so we can save enough budget for a cool fight scene later in the season..." Frieren: "If this show ever drops below 120 FPS you're all fired."

Seachelle

Fern and Stark are definitely one of the best anime couples (that technically aren’t a couple but everyone sees them as one) in recent memory

HBelmont67

Agreed. They just WORK.

HBelmont67

I am HERE for the shade. Invincible's production value does NOT live it up its popularity.

HBelmont67

When I asked Kenny the question about the choreography, I didn't realize he had ACTUALLY done that dance before! And in London?

L.C.

Frieren will continue to show you guys why this first season of the show is a full blown 11/10. Like you literally cannot get a more perfect adaptation than this. This series is perfection....!

L.C.

He was rizzing up all of those European ladiessssss. "Ma'am shall I get you a glass of wah-uh (water) before we get to our dooonce (dance)" lol

Limini

yeah but the question was about rotoscoping

Yuion

This show is such a slow burner but man are they good at it. Once you get used to the pacing you can really appreciate the subtle character progression. You will see very subtle changes in behavior after certain events. Totally missable but its there

HBelmont67

Montana getting so defensive of Frieren (even calling her beautiful) when Sein doesn't count her as an older lady is so wholesome.

possessedmofo

14:58 Without hesitation Kenny rewinds to just to hear that "Good boy" a second time. Frieren simp counter : +100

wanira 11

Really hope you guys pick up the apothecary diaries after you finish this series :)

ArcaneAnomaly

And Montana immediately knew what he was doing and why. She knows her husband.

ArcaneAnomaly

Rotoscoping is fully hand-drawn. It's just tracing over footage of actual people doing the movement.

HBelmont67

Did the music cut out at 2:06 when Sein started going on about their party not having older ladies? 🤣🤣

Victor Velazco

cannot wait for episode 21 around 13 mins 😮‍💨😮‍💨

HBelmont67

Well, the point was that this wasn't that

HBelmont67

Hopefully, he'll get to go ALL OUT with Legend of Vox Machina.

wanira 11

will they react to vox machina?

HBelmont67

The look Montana got when she said, "montage." 🤣🤣

HBelmont67

Same difference 😅

HBelmont67

It's very likely that it's coming after Invincible.

My take on ferns opinion about goddess magic but not the goddess is there's a collection of magic that exists that someone written down but whether the person who wrote it down was the goddess who created the world and still cares for humanity or just early spell casters who knew more is up in the air. The goddess is a very specific claim of what the origin of people is and what happens after you die and even what is morally acceptable. Trying not to bring my real world religious ideas here but I don't think it's wrong to say what we see of the goddess and the priests there is very much a strong influence of real world Christianity. Usually in dnd it's known for a fact that the gods exist and the question is less do gods exist and more are they worth worshipping kad they come across more as just super powerful people with limits and stuff than what is presented in Frieren. It's possible healing magic exist but it's not from a goddess but because it isn't understood the people there just threw it under the goddess category. Frieren said a few episodes ago that the only time the goddess interacted with the world in a way they know about is during the age of mythology. And she knows first hand how legends grow over time. A scenario where a mortal mage or priest was so well she is talked about as a goddess is not too dissimilar to her master now being a fairytale or Himil being the wielder of the hero sword of legend despite that sword still being in a cave.

HBelmont67

"Awakening Spell!" I couldn't help but think "Arise" in that moment. 😅
