I absolutely love the way Hunter x Hunter has developed nen. It feels even more “complete” than alchemy with how each character is designated a class, the 4 exercises of nen, and why certain choices can help/hinder your fighting capabilities. There is another very interesting development to the Nen classes in the next episode, and I’m actually really intrigued to see if you’ll be able to guess Kurapika and Leorio’s classes!

Just to clarify, Gon called Hisoka, not the other way around. xd and yes, Hisoka is purely motivated by power and the desire to fight and kill those worth killing.

I was rewatching this season in college in my apartment. I had four roommates and they all walked into the living room during that scene and immediately said “what are you watching?” I had not idea how to explain myself, it’s just hard to watch :(

I think the way they use specialist in the show is very smart and not just some OP power. Now if the author would’ve made Gon a specialist then it would’ve just been a cop-out

I find it fun hearing Montana say "I'm not a fighter" when elaborating on her category pick, since one of the things I always thought was pretty cool about Hunter x Hunter was the amount of non-combat Nen abilities we see. Just give it time and I'm sure you'll see a multitude of fun/useful Nen abilities for us "non-fighters" 😂

It doesn't show in the dub but on the chart it shows an enhancer has 0% chance of learning specialist nen.

Juuuust in case people are thinking Hisoka is a bit of a child predator, I'd like to clarify that's not the case. He simply lusts for powerful opponents. The only thing he seems to truly care about is finding and fighting worthy fighters.

Huge Spoilers for the show : Hisoka is a child Predator, in some way. Towards the current last episodes of the anime, Hisoka asks Illumi if he can « take care » of Killua for him, basically meaning offing him. But, he made a hand gesture as he said that, one that in japanese references some pretty dark towards children, which does enrage Illumi. Anyway, yeah it is powerful opponnents and fighting them that excites him and makes him make those creepy expressions and etc, but he’s definitly also that weird that he likes some very dark stuff

Oh damn, you're right! I completely forgot about that scene. I do feel like Hisoka said/did that to purposely goad Illumi into acting out (and it worked) though that's not to say Hisoka didn't actually mean what he said. It's such a shame, man. Hisoka would be my favourite character if it wasn't for that trait.
