I absolutely love Heaven’s Arena, somewhat underrated in the fandom actually. Hisoka is such a disgusting person but fascinating antagonist that really brings a… unique flair to HxH. In a good and bad way, but it definitely makes HxH stand out compared to other shonen in the early stages. It’s also crazy to think that only 12 eps ago, we didn’t even know what nen was, and the anime did a rly good job in my opinion of introducing it well throughout this arc without it getting too overwhelming. You are now about to transition into one of the most interesting arcs I’ve ever seen, very very fun to watch and rly looking forward to it

SO OPINIONATED... Yall latch onto a single idea or feeling and then die on that hill. The ref was worried Hisoka would kill Gon like he had done in every single other match. Hisoka almost killed gon but held himself back. Also Hisoka despite being a creep, he is interesting to watch. If you cant learn to enjoy his moments in the show ur just robbing yourself of a good time.

I think it's 100% reasonable for the ref wanting to quickly end a match between a guy who kills nearly everyone he fights and a kid clearly out of his depth getting the crap kicked out of him. Nobody wants a dead 12 year old on their conscience.

We know the phantom troupe is gonna be in yorknew with the pink haired girl we met a few episodes back, so we'll probably see him again. now wing and zushi, we have no idea when we'll see them next but a teacher is a teacher so is gon and killua have some sort of trouble learning, im sure hes an option to consider. then again, theyre pretty smart and intuitive. remains to be seen

As much as you'd wanna blame the ref, if in a real boxing match all the punches of one contestant did was make the other boxer hornier, I feel like I would not award points for that either. Jokes aside, it's clear he wanted to protect Gon from getting murdered on stage. He was already weakened and on the verge of losing consciousness. He awared 2 points for that flurry and then awarded Hisoka 3 for the retaliatory strike to get the fight over with quickly.

The ref wasn’t being a bad ref😂 Gon was simply outmatched in every capacity. The longer the fight is drawn out, the worse it would’ve gotten. So if anything the ref had Gon’s best interest

Something to note, whenever you see someone do some "Super Human" Strength they are most likely doing a little Enhancer style attack. Hisoka stepping into the floor was an application of Enhancer, but since his Main Nen is so simple he's able to branch out a bit.

Just a mention on how creepy Hisoka is, he's only creepin' on Gon because he has potential as a thrilling fight. Hisoka is a literal battle junkie and see's how amazing Gon could be, especially with how fast he's growing. Every reactor I've seen gets weirded out by the SHWING part but it's only because he see's a good fight in him. Later on you will see the length Hisoka goes to for fights with strong people. He's quite insane with his thirst for combat. Some people are getting annoyed with your reaction but in my opinion it's VERY justified lol Hisoka IS a freakin' weirdo as well as a straight up murderer.

Kenny the issue with using Zetsu is that it only shuts off your own aura nodes, not your opponents. If Gon could somehow force Hisoka into a state of Zetsu, then that would deactivate his bungie gum. However, if Gon used Zetsu that would simply leave him defenseless. All the basic Nen techniques are about controlling your own aura, not other people’s.

Yeah I agree about the writing and wanting us to hate him lol ESPECIALLY this episode. He's a pretty despicable character and the VA does a phenomenal job.. you cant help but cringe when you hear Hisoka's voice. (Btw the VA does NOT sound like that normally haha) Hisoka is such a wild card and whenever he appears, it immediately brings this element of uncertainty

Exactly, imagine being in his position. A freaky clown known to murder his opponents in matches is battling a 12 year old kid—a strong one, but still. We know Hisoka wouldn’t kill Gon because he wants Gon to become as strong as possible. The ref doesn’t know that, so it’s totally reasonable for him to react the way he did.

Mad at the ref but the ref was trying to keep Gon alive, lol. It was clear that Gon didn't have chance of winning. Hisoka probably could have killed him at any time. The loss is a much better alternative.

Not only that but social acceptance standards for this stuff has changed since it released. It’s gonna be even more jarring for people today than it was when it first came out. Honesty @katacorey I love hisoka but I will also acknowledge the seriously problematic way Hes portrayed when I talk about him. Like I totally get where the writers are coming from with those kind of lines but I can also acknowledge how the implications of those lines can be really uncomfortable to watch. Thankfully this is the last really egregious bit imo so hopefully they can build a little understanding for his character from now on.

Im actually glad you broke it down that way, because that certainly helps alleviate how I regard his character. I understood it was heavily due to his love of a good fight, but it has been hard to separate those "feelings" when he's expressing those thoughts towards a child. But putting it that way, it makes it easier (for me anyway) to understand it actually has pretty much NOTHING to do with him being a kid, just that gon is basically emitting enough potential bad ass aura that it gets hisoka a certain way 🤣😅 (still crazy af regardless lmao)

Many people hate Hisoka by this point in the show for very good reason. However I cant really explain why but as the show continues the hatred does fade for most. I should also point out that his personality test for determining what Nen people have is widely considered one of the best ways to determine what affinity characters have. Its so good that people often use it in fan theory shows online about current manga characters and such. While there are many reasons to dislike Hisoka, I am very interested in seeing how you will view him at the end of the show. Cant wait for yall to see all the new fun things in York New City....Be ready this is when the show really starts moving at an incredible pace. I really want to know what affinity you think Leorio and Kurapika have as well.

Agreed! I’ve been a fan of HxH since 2004, I was 8 yo, and Hisoka has been my favorite character since. Most people have issues with Hisoka because they refuse to look past surface level, when Hisoka is one of the most complex characters of the HxH. Any scene he is in immediately becomes more interesting because he rarely aligns with anyone else as he always has his own motivations that are separate of that of the plot. So many people have a misconstrued view of Hisoka because most words have lost meaning to people when accusing something. Hisoka loves fighting, he is a murderous psychopath, and his enjoyment comes from destroying powerful people, he believes himself the strongest and therefore his motivations are an extension of his desire to prove that belief. He does not have any other intentions but that of destroying his rival. However, part of his shtick is creeping people out to put them off their game, it’s all about mental games with him.

It’s something a lot of people have trouble with, this however is part of Hisoka’s manipulation. Hisoka likes creeping people out as well because it puts them off their game, but Hisoka is entirely only interested in fighting and destroying his rival, there is nothing more to it.

I think there is difference between hating the way he's written and hating him. It's incredible writing to make such a horribly intimidating character but he is legit a monster. He is not redeemable even through his "cool" moment. He is a pedofile, a creep, and a murderer. His likeability comes from mostly his strength and the way he is written. Nothing else.

WE know that hisoka doesnt want to kill Gon, everyone else doesn't. Hisoka killed every single one of his opponents thus far, the ref is safe to assume that hisoka would do the same to gon. Its not "bullshit" reffing, its responsible and quite literally preserves gon's safety.

Not gonna lie, i am really surprised you are so judgmental of other peoples/characters desires/turn ons. Especially if it is something that isn't illegal. Hisoka is a bad person, creepy, crazy and a murderer. However so far in the show Hisoka hasn't done anything wrong/illegal. He followed the rules at the hunters exam and only killed when it was allowed and encouraged. Same at Heavens Arena. And he protected our Gang and even helps them grow/achieve stuff) Also he just gets turned on by fights, the higher the risk the more he gets aroused. He doesn't even think about having sex at all, since his turn on isn't to have sex with his opponent but to fight them or the prospect of fighting them at their peak (Gon as example). That is all he wants, to fight. So please don't be so judgmental of others as long as they don't do anything wrong.

I see where you are coming from. For me it just feels a liitle different since Hisoka doesn't force them to do anything. Its Gon who desperatly wants to fight Hisoka and he only agreed to it if Gon reaches a certain point. Hisoka even said that he wont fight Gon anymore until he matured enough to be wort killing, which probably takes at least several years if not decades. If he really was the creep most think him to be, he would put in effort to get his gratification more often. That doesn't mean Hisoka isn't a creepy horrible person for many reasons. And yes it creeps me out that he gets turned on by fighting a child, but if i think logically i feel like i can't judge him to much for it. And the second point is, that Gon and Killua are going into the territory of adults. The Hunter Exam and Heavens Arena are places only for the Strong which normally are adults. So if Hisoka is a Combat Sexual, age doesn't matter, only the strength. And Gon and Kullia reached "adulthood" in Terms of Strength. They made it really clear in the show that Gon and Killua are not gonna be treated like children but equals if they participate in Hunter related or other stuff like Heavens Arena.
