Any tips on shading ? I might be too self critical but I always feel like my shading is off somehow

Honestly, I don’t know ANYTHING about shading, I simply look at a reference image and draw the spots that are “shaded” as if they are a color element, not a dynamic shade if that makes sense? Like if u asked me to explain why this image is shaded the way it is, I couldn’t tell you or replicate from memory, but using the reference image I can imitate it! Long story short, use reference images!

Hey couple things1. Great sketch it's super cool to see this side of you talent I've been Thoroughly enjoying it. Also a question cuz y'all mentioned before you'd both been to college and I thought Montana has psychological or psychiatry type studies. Just cuz that would shade some of the reaction I'm about to watch
