Me, as a Percy Jackson reader: "Why is it ALWAYS the solstice??"

HBelmont67

They explain it in-universe next episode, but apparently in the stream, Ashley (Pike) joined back in the stream via Skype, and her vanishing here was due to a poor internet connection. 😅

HBelmont67

So grateful for the double drop. That cliffhanger is BRUTAL. 😭

Shane Gilroy

“And thats where we’re left for that episode.” And then the forehead touch. We all felt the same. Lol

StorytellerDave

As someone who watched Campaign 3, yeah - Why IS it always the solstice?!

StorytellerDave

Time for one of the most EPIC fights in all of animation

HBelmont67

Yeah, I agree that Pike was MVP in this fight. She held her own against BOTH of the Briarwoods during this fight, albeit in separate intervals.

HBelmont67

Dunno which cliffhanger is worse: this episode's, or the next. 😬

Ferret

The solstice is traditionally associated with transitions, so thematically tying it to major rituals makes sense.

StorytellerDave

It is very easy to miss but actually it was not the Solstice yet, they had to move up their timetable, so that plus the lack of a proper sacrifice probably caused the ritual to not be 100% right.

HBelmont67

I had a feeling Montana would get a kick out of Grog's "don't try and seduce me" line to Silas. 😏😂

HBelmont67

As shocking as Keyleth's self-sacrifice this episode is, I have to say, she still looks really pretty without her antler crown. 😍

HBelmont67

"Grog=Montana" Counter, anyone? 😁

Swanzy

This episodes cliffhanger is sooo good and cruel 😅 but that's what makes the show so amazing! Appreciate the double drop Kenny! 🙌

Juan Solo

Definitely the finale.

I'm always excited by the depiction of the spellcasting of this episode. First and foremost -- the highest level spell cast by anyone this season is the Astral Projection bestowed onto Pike by the Everlight. Not too far off is Delilah's Finger of Death, a nasty bit of death magic she used twice this season -- earlier on Pike in episode 3 and then again on Keyleth for this episode. Pike probably saved to take only partial damage (although it did still look like it did a number on her). Keyleth took it to the chin. Delilah also took Grog out early with a Power Word Stun. Telekinesis, Silence and Witch Bolt rounds out her spells in this episode. Oh, almost forgot, the forcefield she created -- a low-level Shield spell. Vex was able to roll high enough to overcome it with her arrow. Pike used Searing Ray and Spiritual Weapon in her epic battle with Silas. Her mass heal was a Prayer of Healing spell. Keyleth's big moment was the combination of the Daylight spell she used in episode 4, followed epically by a Sunbeam spell she used to disintegrate Silas.

Robert Bonfante

Also the Whispered One doesn't really need Delilah for anything anymore. He's not under any obligation to honor any supposed bargain.

Robert Bonfante

Episode 11 is one of my all-time favorite episodes in TLOVM, and is my favorite of season 1. Season 2 is basically a whole season of episode 11s.

This is one aspect where I think this requiring copyright changes hides something important too. Its common when dealing with powerful otherworldly entities in both dnd and other media to not know what your patron goal is and knowing who the whispered one is in dnd really implies that too. Deliah assumed this was to release him but she may not even know what success looks like

Zain Cassis

I just love dnd vampires. So must cooler than other brands.

dannydarko27

Don't worry Kenny, Matt is real good at letting every character shine, this is the Percy arc so the other characters only have little moments for now

dannydarko27

Side note but due to copyright reasons they won't be able to use the Whispered One's actual d&d name. Stranger Things did get to use it since they specifically state the name comes from D&D.

dannydarko27

Spoiler for those who are trying to watch the campaign so beware.... the actual name of the bbeg is Vecna. I wish they got to use it in the adaptation, but Whispered One works for me

AuroraZero_

For those that have watched campaign 3 all I got to say is.. welcome back Laudna 🖤

AuroraZero_

I do believe her force field was the Anti-Magic Shell spell (which is why only Vex's arrows went through bc Percy's bullets were magical)

AuroraZero_

Very true, though uncertain if you have watched the campaign so if not spoilers ahead.... Technically he does honor the bargain, bc Silas does come back. Twice i think...

HBelmont67

I dunno. Castlevania has some pretty awesome vampires.

StorytellerDave

I did watch the campaigns, though I have not finished C3 I am like 20 eps behind. But yeah I saw Dalen's closet, it is really good, I hope we get it at the end of the show. It would be such a good epilogue.

Drake

he honors every obligation. delilah might not know it here before she dies but she gets everything that was promised

Drake

the rly crazy thing is, the briarwoods WON! the whole "conquer whitestone find the ziggurat" thing it was all just to finish THIS ritual, and vox machina was to late, yes they killed the briarwoods but to late, whatever they wanted to to, they succeeded their plan worked perfect its one of the rare times where the villain rly gets what he tries to archieve

Drake

why would you openly write that so everyone will see the name ? thats a huge spoiler there doesnt help u write "spoiler" ahead ... and "the whispered one" is one of his "official" alias names who they also used in the campaign. "the whispered one" has the same level of copyright as his other name so that doesnt matter at all its all OGL
