FIRST!!! Is this a surprise drop?

Andrew Blades

Did Kenny get Friday and Saturday mixed up this week haha?

Babybear47

They said in the August schedule they put up that they recorded HH 60 first. Or at least that's my understanding of what was put on the schedule they posted yesterday

bob

this is my 6th watch and this time I'm going to understand greed island i swear it

LeFlaneur

“Ging is a Trash dad” team 😂 😂 😂 we all clocked him first mention

Lui the Bean

I don’t remember most of greed island but I DO remember liking it IM SO EXCITED FOR TJIS

Yuma Nanami

Yep, that facial reaction is exactly what I expected from the Message from Ging XD

Tyshawn Evans

he treats Gon the way he does because to be his son, is to be him. Ging is clearly a free spirit to the fullest extent to abandon Gon to explore. He wants gon to be the same & it’s shown gon was basically born the same. having even taken the same trajectory of life at the same age as his father

Erin Ryan

"I'm not an assassin im a hunter" yayy I love you Killua!!!

Saiyasha

One of the reasons the dude wants all teh copies is also the number of players. I think it was four player per console with a multitap (or maybe 8, I forget) So the more copies he has, the more players he can send in

Erin Ryan

So real I still don't really get the rules still lol

Jota Canutto

They recorded this before mob so they inverted them in the schedule this week

Saiyasha

While the dude is a bit of a weirdo, his commenting on having to turn your brain of or not being able to take the plunge is spot on. Look how Killua is spiraling, while Gon goes with his first Gut instinct and sticks to it. Both are extremes, Gon doesn't think _any_ decision trhough more than once while Killua can get so focused on trying to see _every_ outcome that it stuns him into inaction. That's why they need each other.

Jinchuriki87

The way i envisioned yall having the smoke coming out of your ears (gon style) when the music cut out as yall looked at the prices of skins 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

LeFlaneur

That’s what it is. I started to watch Daria. Jane’s parents weirdly reminded me of Ging, and yeah absolutely free spirit and absolutely trash. It’s the disengaging of parental responsibilities, they are cool and nice to be friends with, but good parents they are not. I’m used to bad parents in fiction to be abusive, but I don’t see disengaged that often and that’s why Ging stands out for me.

David Treago

Wahoo! Im still loving you guys enjoying the info dumps and this is the info-dumpiest arc. Rules rules rules. Youre EXACTLY thinking on the right line tho. What if every item, or really *any* item is maxed out. How do you go about fixing that problem

Chris Collier

I think the CSGO think is more of an ego trip more than anything the skins could be anything, really, as long as it’s unique and rare. It’s not necessarily about what they have, it’s that nobody else has it. I think it’s similar to the way misogynistic men view dating beautiful women. They don’t actually like what they have, they just get a kick out of the fact that they have something others want.

Nickster

Oh man Montana is gonna be the biggest leorio fan down the line I can’t wait lmao

Letts React

absolutely PERFECT metaphor for our feeling at that moment haha

defnotdai

You typed all that just to confirm he’s a deadbeat 😂

Tyshawn Evans

to each their own. that’s not what i was talking abt anyways lol.

LabyrinthSouls

We love ging. We just dont love gons dad. 😝

Tyshawn Evans

that’s understandable but a lot of people remove the depth of Togashis writing with a simple “he’s a deadbeat dad.” like yeah that’s true but it still has its depth.

Rob Carlstrom

Ging IS a terrible father. Great hunter, terrible father.

Dominic Sanjay

Their discussion on the “point” of greed island is hilarious, they’re gonna be so mad when they find out why it’s actually called greed island

David L

I dunno, I don't really have any emotions towards Ging because he just isn't a father, so there is nothing for him to be terrible at. Like yeah sure biologically, but Gon's adopted, he has a loving family who cared about him and was there for him. I get the whole "shirking of parental duties" thing and all, but I also feel like treating bio-parents like they are all-important does a real disservice to very loving adoptive parents. And this isn't just an anime complaint people do this in the real world all the time so it's a bit of a pet peeve. Ging isn't a bad or good parent, he just isn't a parent. Sure that may be a bit shitty of him but it is also exponentially better than making it Gon's problem that he doesn't want to be a parent. Turning meeting him into an adventure Gon is free to ignore is a little insane but mostly fine by the standards of this world, and if Gon wasn't the kind of person to enjoy that sort of adventure than he never would have started it in the first place.

zachary karpiel

I mentioned it the last video but in case you didn't see it, the greed island tutorial is not on Netflix cuz they're dumb. It IS on Hulu/Disney+ however

Tortoise Of Legends

Exactly. In a perfect world everybody would be good parents, but some people are just not made for raising children for one reason or another, whether due to circumstance or personal issues. So Ging, rather than keep Gon and give him a potentially damaging upbringing, gave him to family who were able to give him a loving and stable childhood.

Letts React

Yea those interfaces SUCK for reactions tho sadly

Aleggbry '-'

Finally here officially, so happy for you guys to see greed island, easily the second best arc in the show

zachary karpiel

Ah makes sense. Not the end of the world you don't see it. These corporations love to remove content for no reason lol

Chris Collier

That’s fair. Pokémon cards was probably a better comparison

HopelesslyImmersed

Ging grew up without parents and obviously has a different world view than the average person. He doesn't hate his child or he wouldn't be involved at all, but he obviously cared more about his work than he did raising a child. He's not the best parent, but he made a path for Gon to hunt him down. I guess he wanted Gon to discover the love of being a hunter/adventurer as he did. But yeah, clearly not best father material

Erin Ryan

Theyre the best anime duo they balance each other perfectly

Erin Ryan

Omg the TV saying "if you win greed island a giant dragon will appear and grant you your wish" at 5:40

BG91

Aw man! We wanna hear that full outro! 😭

Babybear47

Honestly gings like one of those parents that gave his kid up to do what he wanted in life, raising a kid wasn't one of them but having him and giving him the option to even go after him was the choice Gon decided because he's just an adventurous kid and just wants to understand why people do what they do like he's shown for every character in the HH world so far. Anyone can hate ging but not knowing a lot of info of why ging is ging it can be frustrating and or dislikeable but once you get to know him more maybe we all can understand, each and everyone real life or in any anime tbh.

Dos_Kadenas

I simply do not understand why people write 6 paragraphs of text to try to explain away Ging being a deadbeat. I don't understand why people choose to go to bat for obviously bad parents lmao

Franina

Tbh any rules they explain during this arc I wouldn’t pay much attention to at first. They matter but trying to understand them off the bat is kind of difficult. Just watch how it plays out and you will understand.

Franina

This arc and the next arc is chef’s kiss

David L

Mainly because people seem ever so desperate to not think about characters complexly, especially when it comes to "bad parents" here. And this anime does a pretty decent job of presenting it's major and minor characters with some complexity so that's a shame.

Dos_Kadenas

The character can be complex, it doesn't change that he's a shit father. Part of what adds complexity to the character is that you can like him and realize he's a shit father. So what was your comment supposed to add? There are many people like this in real life. Good friends but shit partners/parents. You're 7 page essay on the complexity of their existence won't ever change that simple fact.

Knov or Morel

Hopefully this context helps: I personally would never be judgemental to a person who is a parent, but knows they are not fit to be a parent (think teen moms who surrender their baby to a fire station, doing that is better for the child). I think the idea that everyone will just figure it out, and morally should be there for their kid despite how destructive their influence will be on them, just seems like people projecting and applying what they would prefer onto everyone else. the child is cared for and loved, regardless of biology or social norms. I wonder what people who grew up in the foster system would think about Mito and whale island

Dos_Kadenas

Giving your kid up for adoption is perfectly fine, no one is saying that an adoptive family is not a real family. You understanding that you are a bad parent/unfit parent does not change that you are those things. No one is even saying "you'll figure it out", but having a kid when you know you don't want to be a parent does in fact make you a bad parent. You can also have a perfectly loving adoptive parent and a perfectly bad biological parent. Both these things don't exist in a vacuum. I don't understand what you comment was supposed to get me to understand?

Atlas Creation

Their opinion is valid and they’re bringingreasonable arguments. It just looks like you’re trying to denounce them and call them that word to make yourself feel better about your lost argument…

Thiivi

As a previously avid counter-strike player, I loved hearing the conversation about the weapon skins 😂

StorytellerDave

People say Ging is a bad father, but that implies he's a father to begin with, I don't think you can really call him a father, he clearly makes a choice not to be. I know bad fathers cuz I had one, and trust me I'd take someone like Ging who just left over my own dad who sold our apartment without the knowledge of my mom and left us when I was just 3 years old. Essentially just leaving 3 kids and a mother without a home after having been abusive towards my older brothers earlier, beating them. I was always glad he left, cuz honestly he is a complete piece of shit and we were better off without him. I think Ging at least has the understanding that he would be a shit father so he chooses to not really be a father in the first place. I wish my dad had that kind of clarity so he would have dipped earlier and preferably without selling our home. If you want an in-universe comparison - Ging is what Killua could wish he had, cuz his family is freaking insane and Killua is just so normalized into the awfulness that it doesn't even register to him just how F-ed up his parents actually are.

Limini

Just bc there are worse fathers doesn't mean that absent fathers aren't bad fathers.

Babybear47

I mean an absent father comparison could also be deku or Ed from full metal.

StorytellerDave

I would argue absent fathers aren't fathers to begin with Limini.

Limini

i love when they show gon overheating bc he doesnt understand

Limini

the music cuttig out for the reveal was hilarious

Dos_Kadenas

Not being in your kids life doesn't stop you from being their parent, it just makes you a bad one. The kid might not consider you a parental figure but that adds more to the validity of being framed a "bad parent". I think the idea that "it could be worse" excuses too many bad parents. It's very similar to saying that no parent is bad unless they murdered their children, "did your dad try to murder you? Then I think your opinion of your parent is invalid." I know I made an extreme example but that's what the crux of your argument feels like. I think there can be levels of bad parenting and not all bad parents have to be abusive. You can have an extremely loving parent who did things that mess you up/are considered bad parenting. But that's just my two cents.

StorytellerDave

You misunderstand Dos_Kadenas. My point is that if a parent knows that they'd be such a horrible parent that the kid would be better off without them, I think it is better for the parent to leave.

Sean Strunk

I know it's random as heck but I think it's so cool you feature our names in the video! I finally took the time to find my name in the intro, and the name following mine just so happens to be the name of the store I manage. lol Feels even more like I'm supposed to be here now, and Thank you both for the wonderful reactions!

Dominick Ratliff

Anyone who defend Ging is wild. Ging is top 5 worst dads of all of anime hands down. cool character bad dad
