In the Japanese version of the manga pitou is never gendered different translations to English chose between male and female and the anime clearly leaned into female

Just so you guys know, the manga during this whole arc (especially with Ponzu and Pokkle) is soooo much darker! they obviously couldn't air this due to the graphic nature of that content, but if you guys wanna read the manga I'd recommend checking it out. :)

Go for it. There's a lot of lore and the character arcs are pretty decent in the manga as well. Just keep in mind, Hisoka is.. well Hisoka. That and the tone can be darker at times. But overall, pretty good manga.

You haven't seen aura farming until you see Pitou put her hand on Rammot's head. I honestly think it's the best portrayal of "out of my league" in any form of media.

Togashi himself has said that Pitou doesn't have a gender. The manga makes it more ambiguous, but the anime decided to lean more into the female gender.
