1) The start of one my favorite character arcs in anime. Please remember how you’re feeling about the King right now so you can compare down the line. 2) I think it’s justifiable that the King thinks he’s above the other ants altogether, or at least understandable. Us Homo sapiens probably wouldn’t consider ourselves the same as Homo erectus despite them being our direct ancestors. It’s an arbitrary line in the sand but it’s something us humans do as well. A big theme of this arc is holding up a mirror to humanity. As the ants get more human personalities, they start doing things like hunting for sport, establishing their own domains, and stepping on insignificant creatures, which seems cruel and evil when they do it - so why is it just part of life when we do it? 3) One of those episodes that remind you how incredible this arc’s OST is. The scene with the King and the human family as well as Gon and Killua in the truck are astounding.

I do think its wild that the King thinks its "fun" to hunt down and kill people to figure out if theyre rares. He has literally no reason to do so, hes just in it for the love of the game: murder.

I’m not sure whether you guys remember but in the beginning of this arc they said that the royal guards ie pitou, pouf and youpi when they are born they only serve the king. So them defecting from the queen was suppose to happen its nothing to do with their personality. And the lower guards stay with the queen

In my opinion the purpose of gyros (the mob boss) back story is to show the darkness and evil that is in humanity. Compared to the people in gyros backstory, are the ants actually more evil than humans? The chimera ants were born monsters, humans become monsters because of their own actions.

Yeah, I think it's meant to be more a reflection of the growing humanity of the soldiers (especially Kolt) that they are even so disturbed by it. Really the only unusual thing happening here is the King basically C-sectioning himself before the membrane around him was fully reduced and thinned out. So it probably contained a lot more blood vessels and stuff still which is why the Queen is dying.

i dont think so, first born is the most human yet the ones right after are basically robots or “drones .” i think it just varies on what type of ant they are, Kolt is most human because the first born needed to be a doninant but reasonable leader, maybe.

After pitou said they dont want anything to do with the queen ant kenny responded by saying the more human the ants become the more they dont want to do anything with the queen but im saying from the very beginning the royal guards were always supposed to deflect from the queen and go directly under the king. They drew it on a graph in the beginning before they were born
