The thing with loyalty for the Royal Guards is that they are individuals with very diferent mindset, so they show their devotion in different ways. While one feels is just natural to become a shield that protects the king (Youpi), another wants to go ahead and procure the path is clear (Puff wanting to kill Komugi) and Pitou with the straighforward idea of doing exactly as she's told and trying to find the best way to do it. And us being able to know the storm in their heads as well as the ones in the main characters' team except Gon (I feel we can barely hear Gon's inner thoughts so far, it's mostly Narrator speaking for him so far, but not the others). Hell yeah, so cool how can anyone has their own spotlight!!

Liam Ferguson

English Gon: "Your completely calm, since it's not your fight" Japanese Gon: "it's easy for you because your calm, since it means Nothing to you" Crazy differences making shit not hit AS hard. Both VAs are great though

jolly

you guys really should watch the sub scenes with gon for this episode! the voice acting is incredible!! and the dialogue changes actually are pretty different in the sub when gon and killua are talking which helps you to understand more tbh. it was a translation issue

Erin Ryan

My heart aches for killua I just want to hug him

cc_drawsthings

AHHHH, THEY'RE FINALLY HERE (Day 10 of asking them to listen to the ending song! I'm losing hope 😔)

Jordan Odle

This is just my opinion, but I found that Gon was being very hypocritical in this scene in a sense because of everything that has happened in show up to this point. During every instant that Gon has met actual villainous characters, he advocated for the small bit of light in them even when others some with actual hate in their heart like Kuripika wanted them dead Gon wanted them to live but the one time it actually affected him and also sees someone putting to practice that belief none of that ideology he has been saying means anything to him. An example I harken back to besides the Kuripika's vendetta against the phantom troupe is the bombers from Greed Island. Gon after beating them gave them the benefit of mercy and first aid despite the countless people they killed and belittled some of being people Gon knew/met partially because the main guy cared about his allies but Pitou healing a child he immediately goes to the negative refusing the positive. Now I do understand Gon's anger, but how he treats Killua here who just acting in a way that he learned from Gon just tows me over the line Killua was about to cry. In Killua's head I could even imagine that for a brief moment thought if Gon someone he considers his light and showed him the light within himself dismissed the light of what Pitou was doing then what does that say about say about the light within himself when it comes to how Gon sees him. To me that is just heartbreaking. Granted I am not saying that one good deed redeems Pitou but I am just saying that from the kid gives everyone some form of the benefit of the doubt to at least look at them with eyes unclouded by hate despite what they have done the moment it becomes personal none of that mattered

This episode hurts so much but it's so good it's worth the pain.

Claus

One my absolute favorite episodes of HxH. The emotions of Gon.. jeeez. He has really prepared for this fight mentally and to find this situation unfolding is just so heartbreakingly difficult for him to accept. I think the dubbed version did okay portraying the emotions of Gon but it doesn't come anywhere close to the subbed version. I really hope you give it a listen. Just the part of the episode where Gon rages. It almost makes me tear up hearing the emotion that is put into that voiceacting.

This is another one of those episodes you need to watch in Japanese on your own time

Phoenix_mercury

1. Komugi isn't a child, she's in her 20's 2. Gon's been working himself up from the moment be left kite's side, it's been piling on constantly and has reached the point Gon simply isn't listening to reason ect isn't the slightest, I wasn't surprised at all

Marcel Dawson

I back everyone asking for you guys to watch this in Japanese, that would be an awesome bonus, on of my favorite voice acting scenes in all of anime!

Sebastian Mendoza

i’d think that’s the point, gon has been showing hypocrisy since the beginning of the show and ways of seeing the world very childish, but he is in fact a child so it just comes to it

Drunner64

Yeah this dub really dropped the ball on this episode

Wesley Lambert

I agree with everyone here. This is one of the episodes I recommend to rewatch in sub. The emotions just feel much more intense and the voice actors obliterate their roles. Would love to see you guys react to it as well!

HBelmont67

For Pete's sake, is comparing the sub and dub REALLY the only thing people have to say about this episode?

Mary Baker

Never give up! Maybe they think it has spoilers, so they won’t listen to it until the end of the arc?

Mary Baker

Komugi’s going to be so confused when she wakes up😂

Rachel

I am really liking the dub. However, for this episode, the sub is far better. The dialogue and the voice acting just are more emotionally impactful in Japanese. I encourage you to watch it in your own time!

Mike Donohue

Couldn’t agree more. The emotional impact of the words is dulled by MILES

Miki

The narrator is again silent. Killua leaving gon's side after being dismissed. I think the English translation is much tamer than the Japanese version of that scene. Poor killua

cc_drawsthings

Thanks Mary, I hope they listen to it eventually!

Don

What made me upset about this episode is how Gon treated killua.. I understand Kite is his mentor/Older brother figure.. but killua was trying to give him solutions and trying to calm Gon down but he dismissed all of it..

Mike Donohue

It’s probably the #1 example in all of anime of a dub being miles worse than the sub, so much so that the impact is dulled completely. No hate to dub watchers it’s just a shame

logan shiftar

I would so recommend watching this in English and Japanese because the sub voice actor does such a good job with Gon’s lines in these scenes

Azzy Drem

I am grateful for everything that has happened that allowed us to get to this point 🫶 💖

Phoenix_mercury

Whilst obviously saddening to watch it makes sense, Gon's been working himself up bit by bit the entire time since he left kite's side and now that it's all come to a head theirs no reasoning left in his thoughts and everything is just boiling over, this part of his nature has been hinted at previously just not with/towards killua before(greed island when Gon was pissed that killua could have almost died and was literally just giving an agreement response without actually listening is the first example I can think of)

Phoenix_mercury

Yup🤷 typical "the dub will never be as good/will always suck compared to the sub" people, it's exhausting but meh at this point, also all the people saying to go back and rewatch the sub on their own time not even pausing to think about why they watch everything in dub despite them having said multiple times before that they can't do sub

Azzy Drem

Komugi is to Pitou, as Kite is to Gon. Both are precious, because someone precious to them cares about these people--Meruem and Komugi, Ging and Kite. So the pain of giving Pitou a chance that was taken from him by Pitou--you understand.

Deanratticus

I can't explain how excited I've been since you started this series for you both to get this arc, and i absolutely am not disappointed

dannydarko27

This arc is so dam goooooood. Lol the ending with Montana stealing Kennys answer had my crying

patricia jimjimcherie

The dialogue in the sub is harsher. “It must be so easy for you, Killua. Since it means nothing to you.”

patricia jimjimcherie

Agreed! I don’t like the HxH dub, just like I don’t like JJK’s, I think they’re okay but ultimately subpar, but in general okay, this episode however does not hold a candle to the original.

bob

For real it was a gut punch in the sub. That line was the highlight of the episode

Saiyasha

That lip wobble and swallow from Killua hurts so much - it hit him so very deeply how Gon dismissed his feelings.

Cyan_Sky9135

I was going to ask about that something like, "Its equally fair to Killua because Kite was a mentor to both of them. Like no ones death, in real life or fiction, is more equally to one person than another." anyway you get what I mean

Garrett Jones

Only 15 more episodes.... then we are there

DontLeaveOnALoss

The last question was great. Gon being this selfish to Killua also Knowing how much he means to killua "If i complain ill get my way" something along those lines he said. Brings a different meaning.

mal

i highly suggest yall rewatch this episode in sub off camera whenever yall get a chance. Gon’s voice actor was incredible

KingPin

I’m so curious about what their reaction will be at the end of this. If you know you know

SoClose

Why are yall sugarcoating it? This dub sucks

Timothy Heck

It's always the same thing too. "look up the scene, sub so much better!" the dub scene: screaming the sub scene: screaming (Japanese) "SO MUCH BETTER!"

Derek Chase

The Humanity, Kinged his Gain. While humanity, Gon his lost
