Hooray, double drop incoming!

HBelmont67

Fun fact: the Sentai English dub slightly changed Thorfinn's dialogue in this episode to "I have no enemies at all." It was Aleks Le who fought to keep the original translation intact for Netflix, and this hits all the harder because of it. 😭

HBelmont67

Even if it's not anime, I would L.O.V.E. not having to wait till after Invincible season four for Castlevania to come to the channel. 🏰🦇

Magnis

apparently canute commanding the waves was a thing that actually happened

HBelmont67

Like, historically or in the manga?

HBelmont67

I really love that Einar is included in the negotiation with Canute. This may be a long-time reunion between him and Thorfinn, but Einar has plenty to say as the deuteragonist, and he should be granted to say his piece.

Tears tears… just one of the best episodes

I would actually say that this is closer to turning the other cheek. The concept is when someone strikes you on one cheek turn your head for them to strike the other. Matthew 5:38-42 ESV [38] “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ [39] But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. [40] And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. [41] And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. [42] Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you. "

Well said. Good to see an show treat Christianity with respect, for a change. So many others choose to villaify it.

Magnis

historically. there are other events like this in season one like when askeladd’s men carried the boat into the water around episode 6 the context is different obviously but a lot of the characters and events are recorded in history

I'm confused I thought that Castlevania was taking the Monday slot since the it would be after the MN and Invincible

HBelmont67

I mean, I wouldn't say no to getting it sooner rather than later lol. Though, I was of the same opinion and thought that Apothecary Diaries would come after Vinland.

I like Thorfinn's perspective during Canute's speech. Einar has the more human reaction, the one you'd expect. Thorfinn has a higher understanding. Canute already knows that the vikings have done bad things, he said that himself. Einar is just repeating things Canute already said back to him. Meanwhile, Thorfinn is in awe of Canute, realizing that no one else would pursue saving the vikings.

Hey check out windbreakers it’s a school gang fighting anime but it’s pretty good def check it out would be a good show to add to yall list of shows

Daedae

Nah that’s why he my favorite va he always looking out for the fans

Mekar

It's actual historicity is doubtful, but it's true that the English idiom about futility in "fighting the tide" comes from Henry of Huntingdon's "Historia Anglorum," Latin for "HIstory of the English." In Henry's account, Canute did his act of commanding the tides as a show of force to his vassals, declaring afterwards "Let all men know how empty and worthless is the power of kings, for there is none worthy of the name, but He whom heaven, earth, and sea obey by eternal laws."

Erin Ryan

Agreed! Its important to have a victim of the atrocities that both Thorfinn and Canute have caused too

Ramon Fax!

It just made more sense to me to have Castlevania take the Monday slot, Apothecary Diaries take the Wednesday Slot, and Dr Stone take the Friday Slot.

HBelmont67

The contrast of Canute's men at the start of the episode excitedly counting each punch, to the end with each and every one of them silently watching with a stoic expression. 🗿

Jade

Thorfinn rolling with the punches is simply incredible. The animation and colors on this episode are soooo good too.
