Montana got so excited when she learned this story wasn't over. 😆 Can't say I blame her. After reading ahead in the manga, season two left off when things get really, REALLY good.

Man… this story hits me so hard. I’m going to trauma dump here so sorry in advance… Arnheid reminds me of my mother. She was murdered on October 12 2023 shortly after this show aired by my step Dad’s best friend, someone’s I had known since I was 11 years old. She was trapped in a bad marriage she wanted out of, he had feelings for her and offered her a way out. Because he knew of her situation, he felt a sense of entitlement to and he murdered her because she wouldn’t leave her husband for him. At the same time, I know how unhappy and powerless my mother was. The day she died she posted on Facebook, “get me off this rock” (referring to the world) and it makes me think of Arnheids question asking “What reason do I have to live?” So, the reason I share this is because the motivation behind Thorfinn and Einar’s goal feels so personal and grounded to me. I learned during my mother’s murder investigation that this is INCREDIBLY common (possessive violence towards women) and so I find this story so impactful… it’s a reflection of something that still exists. The boys want to fight for a better world so that people do not have to yearn for death as a way to escape their unfair situation and… that resonates deeply with me.

This right here is why Farmland is so Goated. Probably my favorite example of character development in anime, and some of the best storytelling and symbolism too. Brilliant season, 10/10.

I love that they show at the end that they gave the Old Master a chair and a farming tool so he could still sit there and feel like being part of the farmers still, probably spending the last of his days in the fields as he wished.

When canute said "you've become quite the talker I wonder who you got that from" hes referring to askladd. To be able to negotiate and convince people is askladds specialty. Its also why Thorfinn looks alittle upset.

When Thorfinn crossed his arms, I thought he looked like Askeladd.

You know, on rewatch, I kinda get why they initially thought this episode was the finale. Without going into spoilers, and with how the next episode goes and the manga immediately after, this COULD have been the ending of season two.

This manga/anime and this story is even more relevant today than it has ever been, with the continued death, war, evil and destruction around the planet we need more people like Thorfinn and his ideology, one of those rare stories that genuinely changed my view of the world and how I interact with people in my life I disagree with. Will always be proud to have "I have no enemies" along with Thorfinn's dagger tattooed on me forever
